Of course you can @CrochetBug pm your address and I'll send them out tomorrow morning for you ☺️ so glad they're finally going to get some use!

CrochetBug · 28/06/2022 13:43

Thanks so much @sophs29 I'll PM you now.

CrochetBug · 28/06/2022 13:46

Well.i think I've sent a pm! Let me know if you didn't get it.

sophs29 · 28/06/2022 20:06

I got it @CrochetBug ☺️

Hope everyone on the thread is starting to feel better now!

Fairislefandango · 29/06/2022 15:54

Ugh - I am so fed up with invigilating exams. Kids are behaving really badly and being so horrible to the (non-teacher) invigilators that they're threatening not to come back! Tomorrow is my last day, thank goodness. And just in time so that I'll have the time to get started on the Tour de Fleece on Friday!

I've totally lost my mojo for knitting and crochet though. I'm neglecting my Cornish pixie because I'm not enjoying it, and I have no other projects on the go Shock. I think I need to have a sort through my stash and see what kind of thing I fancy making.

Yay to your last day tomorrow @Fairislefandango, it sounds like it’ll be a well deserved break!

I haven’t done much either, I’ve had a bit of a cull of my stashed odds and ends and there’s a community art project willing to take random wool so they’re going to that and I’ve frogged two jumpers to reuse the wool for something else.

I’ve got the fibre I want to spin out although we’re going away for a few days next week and I can’t see my kiwi fitting in the car so I might use spindles…

MerylSqueak · 29/06/2022 22:33

I got the patterns today @sophs29 . Thank you again. They're fab.

Enjoy it being your last day @Fairislefandango

DS has had chicken pox and DH is working in Spain so I've told been able to go to work. He's enjoying monopolising me as DD usually does. Gees that kid can talk about basketball non stop an entire school day. It's putting me off my stitch count,!

MerylSqueak · 29/06/2022 22:34

Not been able

Not

Told been able

sophs29 · 30/06/2022 07:58

Oh @Fairislefandango that sounds awful! I hope your last day goes well though!

@MerylSqueak glad they arrived and quickly ☺️ haha that reminds me of my DS, he's such a chatterbox - but then I am too, so he obviously gets it from me 😂 hope he's not suffering too badly, my DS was absolutely covered when he had them!

InTheNightWeWillWish · 30/06/2022 15:24

Happy last day FairIsle hope it went as well as it could.

Meryl hope your DS isn’t too sick with the chicken pox!

CrochetBug · 30/06/2022 15:25

My patterns arrived today, thank you so much @sophs29 . I love the name you used on the envelope too Grin

Fairislefandango · 30/06/2022 15:57

Well, my last day was... interesting. I threatened to walk out and go home! I won't bore you all with the details, but it all turned out relatively ok in the end. And I'm freeeeeeeee!

The only remaining work I have scheduled between now and September is an hour and a half of lovely primary school language teaching twice a week until the end of term.

@CrochetBug blimey that was quick! Hahaha glad you approved! I had to put something in 😇😂

CrochetBug · 30/06/2022 22:37

@sophs29 for some reason it totally didn't occur to me to give you my name as well as my address. Mind you I often send post to my friend with a random name on to make her laugh.

@Fairislefandango that sounds stressful! At least you're done working there now.

@MerylSqueak I hope your DS is better soon.

StillNiceCardigan · 30/06/2022 22:56

That sounds stressy @Fairislefandango and hope the chicken pox isn't too bad @MerylSqueak

I don't have any woolly projects on the go at the moment. I've just been keeping my temperature blanket ticking over and crocheting a few granny squares. I have been sewing though - my dress is still a work in progress but coming along OK considering how rusty I am!

SpinMeRightRoundBabyRightRound · 01/07/2022 08:54

Oh no @MerylSqueak, I hope he doesn’t have too bad a dose of them! And I hope your stitch count doesn’t suffer either 😉

@Fairislefandango wow, good riddance to that school, it sounds like the wild west! Thank goodness it’s done, now you can relax and let the cycling and spinning fun commence 😀

That is lovely @StillNiceCardigan, I love the pattern and fabric combination!

Fairislefandango · 01/07/2022 09:27

Shock @StillNiceCardigan - that dress looks fantastic! You are very talented and clearly a bit of a stunner Envy

Fairislefandango · 01/07/2022 09:36

@Fairislefandango wow, good riddance to that school

Yeah, except that my poor children still go there... The dc seem to be doing fine, but now neither dh nor I are employed by the school, we will happily launch into 'that parent' mode and complain about stuff if necessary!

So it's day 1 of the Tour de Fleece - what are your spinning plans for today, @SpinMeRightRoundBabyRightRound ? My overall goal is just to get more comfortable and relaxed with my technique and above all more consistent. I'm still finding it hard to get my wheel's tension reliably as I want it.

Tomorrow I'm going to take a little trip to The Farmer's Yarns - a small festival up towards Coniston in the Lakes (only 3o mins or so from me). It's largely 'farm to yarn' micro- businesses. here

SpinMeRightRoundBabyRightRound · 01/07/2022 11:30

I have three little bundles of silk merino from hilltop cloud I’m going to spin I think @Fairislefandango and one braid from craft cat knitty bits I’ve been saving for the holidays. I’m at Stormont today to walk the kids round the estate until they’re tired out so I can get a bit of spinning done when we get home!

That festival sounds amazing! Oh, I hope things settle down for your DC

sophs29 · 01/07/2022 12:36

@CrochetBug I often do that to my mum! It always cheers her up!

@StillNiceCardigan that dress is beautiful! Really suits your body shape!

Tour de Fleece sounds fun! Hope you both enjoy it and hope @Fairislefandango you start getting the feel for Patience!

StillNiceCardigan · 01/07/2022 14:08

Thanks for the compliments guys I may have the sewing bug now and have been browsing more fabric. My carpets are now covered in thread and little bits of yarn from my granny squares.

The festival sounds lovely @Fairislefandango and I hope you enjoy your tour de Fleece.

Fairislefandango · 01/07/2022 14:53

Spinning will commence this afternoon/evening for me. I haven't quite decided if I'm going to start with the grey / white Jacob or the tutti frutti Corriedale... I have 4 bobbins, so I guess I can only spin 2 singles before I need to ply them so that I can then use the bobbins again. Still haven't decided whether to ply white and grey together or make separate grey yarn and white yarn. I think probably the latter. I've got a feeling that will show up inconsistencies in the twist less!

I've just told the children at my village school that I'll be leaving at the end of term as I have a new job. They were very sad, bless them! They said "But you will come back and visit, won't you?!".

This thread always makes me feel cosy inside, very corny i know but nice when things are tough on a personal level.
I love everyone's progress, things made, things in the making and the pictures. It always inspires me to pick up my crotchet needle and do something.
I've been in a bit of a slump lately crotchet wise but i started a bag today. Nothing too taxing but enough that it takes me out of my own head!! Only problem is I start them and am then usually interrupted by one of my children needing a lift somewhere or food. Smile

Fairislefandango · 01/07/2022 20:33

Yep, same here @mumsie8 - here I am, happily spinning, but I have to go and pick dd up from her friend's in a minute!

OP posts:
Fairislefandango · 01/07/2022 20:37

I'm really excited though - the spinning has suddenly clicked! I don't know if it's that I've got the tension set right, or that the Jacob fleece is easy to work with or what, but what I'm making is suddenly much more consistent! Smile
