Had a glance at the flyer at a friend's place, next week they have packs of wool, all under £1/ball, some acrylic, some cotton, some eyelash maybe, some varieaged.

Oh, and some crochet stuff, and some sewing stuff, and even some card-making stuff I think.

Annoyingly, they haven't put up next Thursday's ones on the web yet, but I'll link to them when they do ...

Oooooh - stuff I don't need and won't ever have time to use - but DH will be away (again) by then so he'll never know. I am putting in my diary now

FillyjonkDOEStellherkidsoff · 07/03/2007 16:31

[evil stash-growing emoticon]

Eh, I bought a bazillion balls of 4-ply merino, the Christmas before last, and have bought very little since then. I'm maybe half-way through the merino, having made a baby cardi, a lot of baby hats, and a giant fancy blanket out of it.

cooooooollll

Tamum · 07/03/2007 17:46

tamum zooms off>>>>>>>>>>>

I just looked at the specials for Monday and they're really bizarrely posh- numnahs, transport gaiters, lunging reins and other riding stuff. I don't that many people round here shop at Lidl and also own a stud farm, but maybe I'm wrong.

Nockney · 07/03/2007 18:09

Tamum, my local Lidls are both very urban. And yeah, they're planning on selling riding gear on Monday. Go figure.

I think they'll put up next Thursday's deals tomorrow. I'm sure the yarn isn't brilliant but it did look ok, and some of it is entirely cotton, I think.

yeah we had the stud farm stuff

in cardiff

pmsl

am saving myself for get knitted really though

Tamum · 07/03/2007 18:56

I'll check tomorrow- I'm not interested in eyelash or acrylic, but cotton would be good. Thanks for the heads up!

Filly, you just had to mention your visit to GetKnitted, didn't you

Fillyjonk · 07/03/2007 18:59

Its my 30th birthday/surviving the most evil OU course in existance treat

am going in september...

serenity · 07/03/2007 19:00

Okey dokey. I saw this myself and was going to start a thread even though I never post on A&C (too jealous because I can never find time to start anything)

There's some nice stuff - yes, some bundles of acrylic, but some 100% cotton stuff too, knitting and crochet. Also various sizes of needles, scissors, sewing accessories, iron on motifs (and a sewing machine for £40)

Fillyjonk · 07/03/2007 19:05

is there any actual wool, does anyone know?

Nockney · 07/03/2007 19:06

No actual wool, from what I saw. Acrylic, cotton, and cotton/acrylic blend.

Fillyjonk · 07/03/2007 19:07

ah

limited dying potential

hmm

I AM going to end up there at 9.00 on thursday though, aren't I? aren't I?

Ceolas · 07/03/2007 19:08

Nockney - are you NQC with a name change?

serenity · 07/03/2007 19:10

They all say either cotton or acrylic except for two, but they're described as knitting yarn rather than wool, so I presume they aren't actually wool wool.

Fillyjonk · 07/03/2007 19:12

hmmm

might go for the sewing stuff though, i am trying to get into that

whats the "crochet stuff"? you mean, hooks?

serenity · 07/03/2007 19:17

Hang on let me look,

two types of crochet cotton,

8x50g in white or ivory, supplied with a 1.5 hook - £3.99

400g ball of 94% mercerized cotton, various colours, with gold or silver effect - £5.99

The 'handicraft needles' at 99p a set looks like there might be crochet hooks in there too, but it's hard to tell.

Fillyjonk · 07/03/2007 19:20

god its shockingly cheap

serenity · 07/03/2007 19:23

looks nice though.

Nockney · 07/03/2007 19:55

Yes, I think 'shockingly cheap' is the Lidl slogan, is it not?

I am indeed NQC. Got into the shortened name thing, and got stuck. Should really change back.

I'm not seeing anything other than numnahs and golf caddies at my determinedly downmarket and urban local branch either...yet. But all this sounds good
I honestly never realised they did non-foods!
