General Knitting Thread - And Photos of a Finished Project!

Ok, I've finally uploaded good pics of the blanket I just finished. The blanket took forever and is bloody huge, for a project in 4-ply.

I'm working on a hat that looks a fair bit like an ice cream cone, for complicated reasons, for a baby who was probably born yesterday or today.

blueamema, your nan's toys look lovely. I'm just getting into knitting filled things (the bell) and finding it all a bit strange. Hope to put up pictures today or tomorrow.

somethingunderthebedisdrooling, I've only been knitting for about two years now. The blanket is by far my biggest work yet, and after doing it, I've pretty much sworn off Big Work.

And another project - my first Xmas ornament. It's alright, I certainly learned some things doing it, I hope.

Oh, I made a tie last year. It was minging, though, made it with dreadful stash yarn.

Are you knitting then felting? How do you control size etc?

I was thinking about felting ornaments, but I'd have to make them flat, then felt, then sew up, right?

By tops, you mean clumps of wool? I've seen them for sale.

Don't you make knitted flowers? Or are those also made from tops?

I haven't yet tried felting, but keep meaning to - the second SnB book has a felted handbag that looks sweet, and as sizing isn't an issue, it seems ideal for felting.
