Anyone else using Pinterest yet?

(I have invites if anyone wants one)

OP posts:
rockinhippy · 21/11/2011 21:13

haha - I've only just sussed that out Blush - I deleted the first couple of lots of "followers" I got, thinking who the hell are these weirdos & why on earth do they want to follow me Blush - took me a little while to get it & work out they are after my pins :)

SoupDragon · 21/11/2011 21:31

I gained a follower before I had any pins Hmm

SoupDragon · 21/11/2011 21:34

I think I'm just antisocial. I thought to use it as a To Do list and can't get "feck off and find your own stuff" out of my head :o
I don't think I'm the kind of person they had in mind!

I reject friend request on Facebook too Blush

PinterestQueen · 22/11/2011 08:14

Gosh I managed to get a pin deleted Shock

Did anyone else have the family in knitted naked outfits?

SoupDragon · 22/11/2011 09:23

LOLOL. Oddly enough no. But pleeeeease send me a link!

BigBoobiedBertha · 22/11/2011 10:36

Nice one PinterestQueen - well impressive.Grin

I too have a problem with followers Soupdragon. It is a bit 'can't live with them can't live without them' thing going on for me though. Part of me doesn't like other people wanting to nick my pins but the other part of me likes to know that other people like what I like

I do draw the line at a couple of people I don't know sending me FB friends requests just because they follow me on Pinterest. I haven't been accepting those. That is a step too far. Smile

SoupDragon · 22/11/2011 10:38

I think I have a deep seated fear of being judged by the things I pinned.

Clearly not a problem for PinterestQueen :o

BigBoobiedBertha · 22/11/2011 10:43

Oh no! It has just occurred to me - maybe those friends requests were MNers? Most of my followers (why does that make me sound like the leader of some dodgy religious sect?) must come from here as I put a link on some time ago and nobody I know in RL knows about it. Why has it taken me weeks to fathom that out? If I haven't replied to your friends request, apologies!Blush

I won't be changing my mind and accepting them, mind you. Grin

rockinhippy · 22/11/2011 10:50

Gosh I managed to get a pin deleted I dip[ my Cap at you - I'm very impressed too Pinterest - thats now my goal - LOL

I gained a follower before I had any pins - me tooShock Soup - though I did wonder afterwards if that was a bit like "Tom" on FB- everybody gets one, so as not to feel left out Hmm

I'm geting a bit Hmm about followers too - I do "get" it, but some literally raid everything I pinHmm & I find myself thinking F"off & find your own websitesAngry so might be deleting them soon too - though think I'm antisocial too - I also reject a lot of requests on FB Blush

Right - what can I find to get a pin deleted Grin

rockinhippy · 22/11/2011 10:53

Oh no! It has just occurred to me - maybe those friends requests were MNers - thats a good point Bertha if any of mine are the 2 I sent invites too - then give me the heads up

Some of my followers do get some good pins themselves & ovbiously have similar interests so can stay but most just raid & I now think they can go & get lost Grin

BigBoobiedBertha · 22/11/2011 10:58

I find myself following people, like the links on here, just to be sociable and then I repin something of theirs to justify the following. It is a daft situation although I have never followed something I don't like so maybe not so bad.

Maybe I should unfollow you all and just be billy no mates and make a stand against the oppression of followers and their thought-thefts. Grin

rockinhippy · 22/11/2011 14:30

Well I take it all back Blush - I totally get the pin raiders & now think its a compliment kiddingmyself as I'm now doing it too I just found another vintage board & felt like a kid in a candy shop, so I plundered for England BlushGrin

so - I'm not deleting anyone now :) - I mean, you just don't know who their friends are do you - lol

I'm not Rockinhippy on there bertha - somebody had already nicked that one Hmm - somehow ended up with my RN & it won't let me change it Hmm

BigBoobiedBertha · 22/11/2011 14:48

I think you and I are follower and followee actually Rockin. I have a vague recollection but I am not sure. I've name changed and it seems we have both got our RL names on there so I've lost track now. Blush

You will have to come and let us know if you do get a pin deleted and what you have to do. Presumably you wouldn't be allowed to collect male nudes on one board?

ComradeJing · 22/11/2011 14:51

I love repinning!

You know that if someone repins your pin and then someone else repins the repin then you still get the credit? I love that too :)

I was worried my few RL friends on interest would think me looney stalkers but now I DONT CARE.

rockinhippy · 22/11/2011 14:51

are we Shock - you do realise I am now going to scrutinising my followers photos to see who has the big boobs Grin

& I was wondering about starting a male pin up board - lol - I've a FB friend who posts some very saucy links - think they might get me a board deletion at least - teehee

BigBoobiedBertha · 22/11/2011 15:00

Oh er! Not sure my picture does them credit actually. The picture is of me with DS1 feeding a llama.

My name is a homage to the Hiccup Horrendous Haddock books as DS1 got the new one a few weeks ago and I do like them and the daft names they use. However, I wouldn't have chosen my name if I didn't have some resemblance to the character in question..... except I don't wear a horned helmet. Well not most of the time anyway.

Anyway, to leave the subject of my boobs to one side for the moment, I am beginning to think, in all likelihood that if you find something to pin under certain headings, (crafts, home, food and that type of thing) that Pinterest is so big that there is a good chance that it has been pinned before unless you took the photo yourself. I suppose on that basis we should just repin at will and not worry about it!

PinterestQueen · 22/11/2011 16:26

Sorry, didn't have computer access.

I repinned this. Good job I deleted the cunt crochet pattern I had Blush.

If anyone else manages it, let me know! You do get an oh so nice email...

BigBoobiedBertha · 22/11/2011 17:53

Boy that has got to itch, hasn't it? Grin

Does Pinterest come from the same creator as Netmums because I don't really consider that in any way offensive. Seriously weird and very funny, yes.... offensive no.

I know it is wrong but it did make me snigger to see the girl playing with her father's dangly bits. Or maybe that is what is considered offensive. And one of the comments 'you must admit though - they do look warm'. PMSL. Warm wasn't the first thing I thought they looked but she was right. Wouldn't you be steaming after a couple of hours in that get up?

CaptainNancy · 22/11/2011 20:38
Shock

Well... that wasn't what I was expecting! Grin

I think the follower before you've pinned anything is a bit like the twitter thing- at the welcome screen, doesn't it link to new members, so people can just follow them straight away? I had quite a few twitter followers from first sign-up, though I didn't tweet for months...

Flubba · 22/11/2011 20:46

I'm also on pinterest and am in a bit of a schizo phase about it. Partly feel flattered when people 'follow' me and partly think "feck off and get your own stuff" - :o I did see one woman had repinned a couple of mine then clicked on her boards and it was like a mini-Flubba shrine Hmm Confused Hmm ~ she'd pretty much identi-copied two of my boards! Shock

Flubba · 22/11/2011 20:49

Oh, a top tip for pinterest - I made a board which is my 'Christmas wish list' and I took a screenshot of my pins and sent it to family as a 'visual' list :) (included a chainsaw and a thimble! :o)

rockinhippy · 23/11/2011 12:31

LOL & the hairy naked suit - brilliant - though cant believe they are so stuffy as to delete that - I wonder if they had a complaint or something Confused

I've now stared an Oooer Missus boardGrin adding just a few bits of things such as rude veg, well hung crochet toys, naughty post cards etc - If I don't get it delete with those I will repin your fluffy nakeds & see what happens Grin

You're not on mine then "Bertha", no Llama - thinking on it I should have realised hat, as though I set it up a while back I've only recently started to do anything with it & I'm only following people I know in RL, bar one I added yesterday

Flubba yes it is a great idea - I've set DD up with one too, she has an "all I want for Xmas" board, where shes merrily pinning away any xmas gift ideas - I've sent out the link & invites to people who buy her gifts, SIL etc - so far it seems to be saving them bugging me for ideas & then expecting me to do the shopping tooHmm Grin -

I've just had had the board shrine thing happen too - though she did leave me a lovely message saying I'd inspired her to sort her boards out - which was really nice, so I don't mind at all :)

SoupDragon · 23/11/2011 13:27

IIRC, when I signed up they mentioned that you shod be careful what you pin so as to set the correct tone.

RatherBeOnThePiste · 23/11/2011 15:03

well I have pinterest thanks to the lovely NellVarnish, and I just like looking at stuff, but haven't actually worked out how to pin anything Blush

rockinhippy · 23/11/2011 17:53

Rather if you look on your pinterest board & click "add" it opens up a box, in that box is a yellow bar, with a link to click on - that downloads you a "pin it" button - it will attach itself to your browser bar & then whenever you see any pictures you like on the net, you simply click the "pin it" button

also on others boards when your cursor goes over a photo, it will show up as like, repin etc - just click repin & decide which of your boards you want to add it too - if youve not set up boards yet - that function is also in the "add" button hope that helps :)
