Well I've done my first 'necklace card'.
I've posted into the gallery under All New - Whizzz

(and sorted out my stuff whilst I was there - some of the 'new' stuff was a bit old !)

link to Gallery

The trouble is - I keep making stuff & then deciding I like it too much & start wearing it myself !

errrrrr what does CAT me mean

jayzmummy · 17/09/2005 16:10

Along the top of the screen where all the links are to home page/active convos etc there is a link called Contact Another Talker. If you click on this link it takes you through to MN Towers where you can send a personal message to another Mnetter....if they have chosen to accept personal messages.
You can send an email message and MN Towers will forward it to the user you wish to make contact with. They then have your email and can contact you back

My email addy BTW is
my MN user name at yahoo dot co dot uk.

If you don't hear from me I'll be lost in the mainframe

jayzmummy · 17/09/2005 17:52

C,
Ive repiled to your CAT....well done for working out how to do it[smile}...it took me ages to work out what CAT meant

Whizzz · 17/09/2005 18:18

Thanks for sorting those out JM ! I love the way you have done your photos - it all looks so professional ! All the pieces are beautiful.
What sort of fastenings do you use ?
I've tried various things but I think I will stick to the crimped ends as they look neater.

I just stood in the garden this afternoon and hung the necklaces off the stone wall!!!! Lovely sunshine here, which always makes the photographs look better.

I use crimped ends on some items but mostly all mine have sliding knots so the necklace can be shortened or lengthened to suit the wearers taste.
On a few I use a larger bead and create a fastening like a toggle.

What do you think of the beads that I used on the key rings Whizz?

Whizzz · 17/09/2005 19:13

Sliding knots sound complicated but I know what you mean!!

The keyrings are great - hadn't thought of thoses. There seem to be a lot of bag charms popping up everywhere too. The beads are nice (are they glass or acrylic?) I just love anything sparkly. I'm just keeping my eye on some nice ones on ebay

OP posts:
jayzmummy · 17/09/2005 19:14

Some are acrylic, some glass, some metal.

Whizzz · 17/09/2005 19:18

Are you going to stock silver or silver plated 'plain' bracelets suitable for 'customising'? I've bought 2 off Ebay (one was the one I'm keeping in the pic!) & another one is SP & a bit chunkier (not started that yet) but I can't find where to buy them reasonably cheaply. I am after plain links so that i can add beads & stuff to it.

Im going to see a supplier next week so will have a look....didnt really want to stock too many jewellery making bits....the card making stuff is piling high...DH would go mad if I started on jewellery stuff to!!!!
My friend uses lots of silver...I ask her where she gets her bits from

Whizzz · 17/09/2005 19:29

Thankyou !

WOW! The photos look so classy. The sunlight gives them such an edge!! I am wearing a necklace similar to one you have made with a resin circle (the white one with a red squiggle on it) but mine is on a thread of ribbon. Is it difficult to do those sliding knots? Dd wears a piece of greenstone but it would be good to make the knot sliding so that she can take it off for PE etc.

kiwibelle · 17/09/2005 20:45

BTW.... I love the shell bracelet (no 14). You are so clever.

champs · 18/09/2005 13:33

Whizzz -- I would keep that one too! it's lovely.

jayzmummy -- wonderful!! the photo's on stone are beautiful, reminds me of photo's you'd see in a mail order brochure.

Whizzz · 24/09/2005 19:08

A quick question prompted by Jayzmummys comment about earrings for peirced ears. I want to make some & so far have bought some wires that are silver plated & also some gold plated ones.

Whats the difference & pros / cons between silver or gold pated, surgical steel, hypo-allergenic, low nickel etc. It is better pushing the boat out & buying sterling silver ear wires (ie what would more people buy do you reckon ?).

Can you tell I haven't got peirced ears !
TIA all you holey eared people !

OP posts:
champs · 24/09/2005 21:20

hiya! I'd go for the hypo-allergenic type or maybe titanium. I pierce ears and use these or real gold depending on client. I have v. sensitive skin and my ears can't take silver. I've heard of quite a few people who dont tolerate silver.

Which ever way you go, point out which metal is used.

HTH and is not too rambly.

Whizzz · 25/09/2005 09:39

Thanks Champs - there seems to be so many different types to choose from it was just confusing me ! I'll try & find some that state hypo-allergenic & ensure that I mark the ones I've made so far as gold or silver plated.

I've added a couple of more photos ! (a bit more 'professionally staged' !
Hope you like them !
