Currently awaiting Amino, been given 1 in 2 chance for DS. NT measurement of 4.3mm and high blood results. I feel like im waiting for the inevitable to be confirmed. Could you tell me your experience, good or bad, if you don't mind sharing? I have a long wait until 2nd January to get the amino and need to stop being so anxious.

Sorry @Lulumamabear I was going to post ages ago to say I fully agree with you. Then came back and tread has moved on and I couldn't delete your username and accidentally posted the above meaningless message!

I am so happy for you OP. Take care of yourself. That feeling of not quite believing it can really stay with you. If you feel like it might help, consider counselling. It's a huge thing you have been through and a lot to process. I also recommend pregnancy yoga. This helped me a great deal when I was dealing with the unknown. I also couldn't quite believe my DS was healthy and for probably six months or more after he was born, I still had a niggling worry that something was wrong. It wasn't and it passed and he is a brilliant and healthy 13 yr old now. But if I had my time again, I would have got counselling.

Update:

Somehow, against the odds, our results have come back clear for DS, Edwards & Pataus.

I am beyond happy and relieved after 3 weeks of hell. We still have to wait for full microarray.

I can't actually believe it.

For anyone reading in the future, even with odds of 1 in 2, things can work out OK.

Thank you to everyone's kind comments, stories, and support. It has really helped.

Great news. My son had a 6.5mm nuchal and a >1:2 risk. We had the cvs and it came back clear.

With that high nuchal there was a chance something else was wrong (eg cardiac issues) so we went on to have some detailed cardiac scans. Nothing found. They kept a close eye on us thorough out the pregnancy but all fine in the end. He's 11 now and the best boy in the world (slightly biased).

Agree it's enormously stressful. I didn't relax until my son was about 5

Yes I agree with you @SummerHouse .

I actually took part in some qualitative research about the impact on a mother who has a high risk result but the test finds there is no syndrome when my DS2 was a couple of years old. Myself and most of the other participants felt abandoned after the test results after a lot of support during the testing process as we found that we started to have questions after the initial euphoria passed but no one was interested. I also kept looking for ‘what was wrong’ - absolutely nothing, he’s a healthy 13 year old, but I wasn’t convinced there wasn’t some as yet unidentified underlying issue or link for a long time. I do wish I’d had some counselling and put all that to bed a lot sooner than I did!

Not to put a dampener on the OPs great news! Just saying that if you do think that way you won’t be the first.

What was your full results in the end? Hoping all good??v

Whatiswrongwithmeffs86 · 19/01/2025 00:22

Micro array came back normal too, thank goodness.

I am back to fetal medicine on Thursday for the heart scan to check if there's any abnormalities, but so far, so good.

I'm praying everything is fine. I was also wondering how I had a 1 in 2 chance if all looks normal on Thursday.....

I had my first set of CVS results come back clear too and i was 1 in 3 for DS🙈 How wrong do they get it nowadays!

muffinlove · 21/01/2025 17:23

I had 1:3 change and had amniocentesis. I only got a letter that chromosomes are ok.

Have you had your second lot of results yet?

muffinlove · 21/01/2025 17:26

@GirlMumxx There wasn't any other tests and dd is 12 with no DS.

Whatiswrongwithmeffs86 · 23/01/2025 19:17

Update for any reading in the future.

I had the fetal echo today, and everything looks normal.

I will update when the baby arrives.

Please don't give up hope. At one point, everything seemed so bleak for us, but somehow, everything now appears to be fine, despite an increased NT, high blood results, and a 1 in 2 chance of a chromosome problem.
