Waiting for CVS results

Is anyone else waiting for CVS results? Our baby has a raised NT of 4.7 and we had NIPT done privately which came back clear for the 3 trisomies. I'm finding it difficult not to think about the possible outcomes all the time.

We haven't told many people about the pregnancy yet because of the worry that something is wrong, but I'm feeling more and more pregnant as time goes on. Planning on telling my boss on Monday but will ask to WFH until we get the results as I just can't face colleagues congratulating me when they notice my bump.

After horrendous sickness in the first trimester and then the NT concerns this has been an extremely difficult pregnancy so far. Hoping to hear from anyone who has experienced similar or is going through the same right now for some hand holding.

Thanks💐

@SarPea93 Fingers crossed your baby is ok. If something is wrong I hope it’s minor and manageable. Because our NIPT returned high risk for T21, the likelihood of us getting a different result is very unlikely. Your hospital sound very on it which is good. Kings are the same which I’m grateful for. Although the sonogorapher when asked said everything was fine which green lighted us to share our news with people. Two hours later he explained the findings from the scan which found several soft markers which I wasn’t pleased about upon reflection. If I had known this prior, I wouldn’t have shared the news’s.

Thank you that is what we’re praying for at this point. It’s absolutely killing me waiting for this call today.
im really sorry to hear that, no matter what the result I’m sure you’ll get through it. It does just seem really unfair doesn’t it.
wow that’s awful, did they call you back in after 2 hours then? That shouldn’t have happened 😔

PurpleRayne89 · 10/12/2024 10:26

@SarPea93 I do think you’ll get some good news today or tomorrow. I have sort of made peace with things now, well I think I have. At kings they complete the report after the scan and send you away with me. We waited for some time and then they called to discuss the report which is when they offered me the NIPT. He clearly saw something wasn’t right during so I wish he gave me a heads up.

I really hope so. Like you though we have kind of prepared ourselves that the news will more than likely not be what we wanted.
hopefully if the result does come back as positive for DS you will be offered some counselling etc to help process it. Not sure how it works
ah okay that’s frustrating 😞 we could see ourselves on that scan that it didn’t look right so I knew she was going to say something before she did x

But I’m very much hoping your NIPT was wrong and you get a clear result x

PurpleRayne89 · 10/12/2024 12:20

@SarPea93 It would be nice to have some good news but I don’t want to set myself up for anymore disappointment. I just cannot believe the comments my mother made yesterday, I really didn’t need that.

Thank you, here’s to hoping 🥂

@SarPea93 Hospital called, CVS confirmed T21. She said I can continue with the pregnancy and they can perform a heart scan at 16-20 weeks or I can opt for a TFMR and explained the two options. I wasn’t shocked and I am not shocked as this was to be expected.

Oh I’m so sorry to hear that. You will make whatever decision is right for you and your family, even though you expected it it’s still going to be painful. Take care of yourself xx

we unfortunately didn’t find out today despite chasing it so more waiting 😢

PurpleRayne89 · 10/12/2024 18:11

@SarPea93 Thank you. Hopefully no news means good news 😊 I have my fingers and toes crossed for you!!!!

Hi @Peaches1906 yea I'm ok thanks, it's been such a rollercoaster but we're glad to have a clear diagnosis and that it's mild and treatable. The wait between scans feels so long! Our next one is in 7 weeks. I'm going to try and enjoy the pregnancy in the meantime and start yoga.

I hope your scan tomorrow is reassuring xx

Any updates OP? currently going through this xx

@GirlMumxx Did you have a CVS?

@GirlMumxx Did you have a CVS?

I've got a CVS test tomorrow !

PurpleRayne89 · 15/01/2025 11:58

@GirlMumxx Have you been told what to expect? My CVs was awful and I passed out. However, I have anxiety at the best of time so perhaps I made it worse building up to it.

what’s the reason for you to have a CVS? I’m sorry you’re having to experience this.

I have really bad anxiety so i think I'll pass out too! & no they've not really said much. I'm having a CVS due to my NT being 4.7mm and 1-3 chance DS and 1-13 Edwards/Pataus. Why did you have it done?

PurpleRayne89 · 15/01/2025 12:11

@GirlMumxx I am sorry to hear that. We had a high risk NIPT for Down’s syndrome. They offered the CVS to confirm the result which happened very quickly. 3 days later they confirmed trisomy 21. We were heartbroken but it wasn’t the end we of the world. We decided to continue the pregnancy as long as there were no significant health concerns. 17 week unfortunately showed part of the brain hadn’t developed and some heart issues. We also found out we were having a girl. We knew then we couldn’t continue despite wanting to. We loved her already. I TFMR Sunday 5th Jan and her funeral will be 24th Jan.

im sorry you’re having to experience this. I pray your CVS result comes back clear.

So sorry to hear about that, hope you're okay!! 🩷 Did you have a high NT?

SarPea93 · 15/01/2025 13:05

Mine also came back as positive for Patau syndrome despite only having a 1 in 30 chance. But we had a measurement of 8.5mm so we knew there was something. Hope the CVS goes well, I had a lot of cramping after so just make sure you rest the rest of the day. Really hope yours is clear x

PurpleRayne89 · 15/01/2025 16:16

@GirlMumxx my NT at 12 weeks was 2.5 and then a week later 3.5 or something similar. There were also soft markers for DS on my scan. Your situation sounds a lot different to mine so I believe things will be different for you. @SarPea93 is correct about the cramping. It is best to rest after as you can feel a little delicate.

@GirlMumxx
cant log in under my old username of Choux bun,
the CVS was done at Southampton (specialist hospital comparable to my local) re did the nuchal and could not find the high reading. They did the CVS and whilst the wait was agonising - it came back all ‘normal’ and I now have a very happy healthy 4 month old daughter.
it’s frightening waiting but you might be one of the lucky ones!
the CVS was not pleasant but just don’t watch, I did have to lie on the floor after feeling queezy but well worth the hassle.
good luck xx

thank you i am so scared. what was your NT measurement? and chances ? xx

tatattataa · 15/01/2025 16:36

@GirlMumxx the first nuchal was 5.5 with a 1/4 chance. If you have any questions please do ask. I really do hope everything is ok. X

Sorry for all the questions haha! Did they ever find out in the end what the high NT was caused by? Xx

tatattataa · 15/01/2025 16:44

@GirlMumxx when I went to
Southampton, they re checked the measurements and did a re scan - they couldn’t find the 5.5mm nuchal - it dropped down to 3.7mm but went ahead with the CVS
