Hi, i an new on here i am currently 13 weeks this is baby number 3 im just 37.
So back story had some spotting/ light bleeding at 6 weeks emergency scan at 7 weeks was told i had a subchorionic heamotoma baby's heartbeat was seen. Bleeding stopped at 9 weeks! Yay! Then the wait for the scan which was last week my hurt sunk as the sonographer said i have a higher nuchal measurement 4mm 😰.
My hcg was 1.5 my papp a was 0.8 and of course my age is against me so i was told 11.1% chance of downs, 1 in 9 so high risk. I have had a CVS today do i now have the agonising wait. Just wondered ladies out comes with similar results? Thank you

Hi OP. I'm sorry you're going through an anxious time. I haven't been in a similar position, but didn't want to read and run. I have seen many threads on here with posters with similar results, and reading through them, it seems more often than not, everything turns out fine. If you scroll through the posts in this section, you'll find a few. Although it's a worrying time, remember that 8 out of 9 people with your results will have a normal outcome. Wishing you all the best x

Thank you so much for taking the time to reply it means a lot. I am so up and down my hands and feet are sweating. I keep imagining the lab looking at the sample.
I have read a few and more positive than negative, then you read a sad one and my heart sinks.
I hope by me recording what I'm going through i help someone else who feels so terrified at the moment.
Thank you again for reading qnd replying. Xx

It is absolutely horrible having to wait. Have they let you know how long you'll have to wait for the results?

Somethingsnappy · 14/07/2020 17:10

Also, from what I've read, a nuchal measurement of 4 mm is only very marginally above the usual range. Keeping my fingers tightly crossed for you x

Fefefe · 14/07/2020 18:50

I've genuinely my fingers crossed for you lady 😘 I came back today as 1/66 and I am 39. My midwife is gonna do my 20 week scan a few weeks earlier and if we see any soft markers we will do needle test there and then.

Daleyrb · 15/07/2020 11:09

You just have to wait one more day now. I wonder if it's worth calling them first thing in the morning, just in case the results are there but they haven't had a chance to call you yet? To minimise your waiting. Will be thinking of you tomorrow and have my fingers tightly crossed for you. X

Hi op, I've been in the same situation I'm 37 I had a nt of 3.6 and a 1 in 15 chance of DS also, I'm not sure of the other figures you mentioned.
I was referred to fetel medicine after my scan at 13 weeks showed the nt a little higher but luckily at week 14 scan the fluid had disappeared, I've been having regular scans every 2 to 4 weeks throughout this pregnancy, I was also offered the NIPT free in Wales in the Nhs and this came back low risk, I choose not to have the amino unless I had other markers on the scans etc, I had a higher chance of baby having heart problems, but so far all looks normal and as good as any other baby, I was higher risk for miscarriage up to 20 weeks, today I'm 33 weeks with baby 💙 I've panicked and worried throughout the whole pregnancy, google is not your friend whilst you go through this, this site has been a blessing reading other people's stories, I never ever knew about these kinds of problems associated with pregnancy before as my other pregnancies have all been normal, but best of luck with yours I'm sure all will be ok, I'm still hoping mine will be ok but now what will be will be but I totally understand what your going though x

Daleyrb · 16/07/2020 07:51

Thank you, its awful as you can't celebrate the pregnancy. You hear of these things and dont think about it happening to you.
Today is the day i should get first results back. I keep going hot and cold those few words will change my whole life. 💔❤💔

Any news yet, OP? Thinking of you x

4mmnuchal · 16/07/2020 12:39

Fingers crossed for all clear CVS results for you OP.

I've posted on a few of these threads before as our daughter had a 4mm NT as well. We had CVS microarray which was clear, fetal echocardiograms and an extra anomaly scan which was all clear. I was worried though for the rest of the pregnancy.

As it happens she was born with a couple of defects which probably either contributed to the high NT, or there was another cause of the high NT that contributed to her problems if that makes sense (so probably connected). However, they are operable and luckily we don't think they will affect her much at all. She's a really happy, healthy, active, chatty toddler who hit all of her milestones early and nobody has a clue anything is different unless we tell them.

I know the worry is absolutely awful (I'm pregnant again now and hyper alert to measurements at scans and potential risks to pregnancy) but although I felt concerned throughout as the time passed and nothing obviously concerning was found I did start to feel happy and excited again.

Our DD is the most amazing thing that ever happened to us and it's worth every moment of worry.

Daleyrb · 16/07/2020 12:59

I have been in your position where the pregnancy was 1:5 risk of Down syndrome. Unfortunately in my situation the test proved positive and we were faced with some difficult decisions. Keeping my fingers crossed you get good news today, but if you would like to ask any questions then i will try and answer them.

Daleyrb · 16/07/2020 13:34

Thank you. No i still haven't heard makes me feel like there is something wrong the longer its taking! Xx

Its agonising waiting for results. Thinking of you OP x

nchristie · 16/07/2020 16:18

I'm at 13 weeks now and at 11 week scan they got NT reading of 4.5mm. I got my NIPT result back two days ago and came back low risk (i.e. less than 1/10,000). It was a very stressful two weeks between first measurement and NIPT result so I feel for you. I'm now waiting on fetal heart scan.

If you're like me then you'll be info gathering on everything to try and understand it all better so here's all the data I had in case it helps you >> I'm 36. 11 week scan NT 4.5mm, CRL 45.6mm, B-hCG 1.5306 MoM, PAPP-A 1.0683. That all came to 1/33 risk of Down's syndrome and 1/545 for Edwards'/Patau's. 12 week scan NT 5.4mm, CRL 54.6mm, fetal heart rate 173bpm.

I found this website useful, you can put in all the measurements and see the probabilities: fetalmedicine.org/research/assess/trisomies

Daleyrb · 16/07/2020 16:53

Hi nchristie,
Thank you for commenting and telling your story, it is so hard. The specialist lady rold ne to bypass the bloody test and go straight for the CVS which made me panic. I still haven't heard! So now i am feeling even worse to be honest. I wish i had a a crystal 🔮 ball!
I just put my measurements in that table and it came up worse so hope i put something wrong in. I know my age is a major factor. Damn feeling old! Again thank you i qill post as soon as i know 😳🙏

Somethingsnappy · 16/07/2020 16:55

Is it worth calling them OP?

Missy38 · 16/07/2020 17:27

Mine were worse in them charts also😩 but the weight and height calculation was really good, I just have a short baby by the looks of things 😊

nchristie · 16/07/2020 17:42

I think mine came out a little worse based on original measurements, and much much worse when I put in the second NT reading but NIPT still came back clear so there's hope! My consultant also recommended CVS and didn't recommend NIPT. I'd arrived at hospital already convinced I was going to do NIPT and just couldn't change my mind so they let me in the end, although CVS would have given more certainty. The day I was expecting my results I called the hospital in the morning and was told I'd get a call back but didn't get the call until just before 6pm, which was excruciating.

Daleyrb · 16/07/2020 17:51

Im not sure what time they finish this end but I'm telling myself it will be tomorrow now.
Ladies its so agonising. I keep getting spits of rage about people who abuse their bodies and still have a healthy baby how dare they! I'm not the most patient of people at the best of times.
I did email at 2.30 and got a reply nothing in yet. Emotionally exhausted 😪 😴 xxx
