Ive come back as 1 in 5

Midwife phoned to tell me my results show i am 1 in 5 at risk of T21.

I was taken aback really and wasn't really listening to the results she explained.

She went on and explained about diagnostic testing and to discuss with Hubby.

She said the scan was fine, just the bloods

I have decided to have the amnio test after she explained the risk and % of miscarriage .
Has anyone any advice on this? like does the procedure hurt? how long do results take etc.

Im frightened :(
This is my 1st pregnancy and I'm 39 at the end of the month.

Thank you. It's fantastic news, it is basically that the placenta was carrying extra cells that has the trisomy 21 chromes. But it was only in the placenta not being carried to the baby at all. And that the t21 cells they found in my amniotic fluid had shed from the placenta contaminating it.

Hello ladies! Ahh that's brilliant news Bumblebee, so pleased for you! How are the babies getting on Bumblebee and SweetChiil? I'm 2 months now and getting a tiny bump 😀 Had an early scan and everything seems ok it's the blood test/screening I'm dreading now 😫 Will keep you both posted xxx

Ah coi that's fantastic news and thank you. Try not to worry looking back I'm devastated how much it all affected enjoying my pregnancy I'm sure everything will be just perfect.

Grannyben Thankyou for your words, it weird as we don't know each other from adam, however such events have lead us to follow each others journey. I have lots of close friends however no one i knew had been or have been such things so its been a lovely thing.

Bumblebee84 its so bloody fantastic to know that everything is ok. I have never head of anything like it, but wow such good news. I can only imagine how this took that shine off your pregnancy. the worry and anticipation. Hopefully you are able to move forward . Im sure you will :)

Sweetchilli, it flies by doesn't it. We are a mth old on Sunday and she's growing and changing so much. I've just fed her and watching her constantly wriggle and kick her legs around now I've put her back down just mesmerises me. She's literally 1: million as that's the odds we had of her not having downs million/1.
I look forward to our little catch ups in the future. 😊

Thankyou Grannyben, what a lovely thing to say! We have all been through a pretty rough time and it's so nice that we are getting our happy endings! We will probably still be catching up when our kids are teenagers 😂 Xxx

Everything is good this end, we've had a few rough weeks of her having viral meningitis,so was in hospital for 4 nights but luckily it wasn't the nasty one.Still scary shit though. And now we all just getting over a bug.

Other than that everything is good. Im tired but good :)

Oh god! Poor little thing! And you too, you must have been so worried! Thank goodness she is ok. I was going to pay for a private one but I just had a feeling that this one would be ok so I waited for the NHS one xxx

Hello! Lovely to hear from you and I am so pleased everything is going well! I can't actually believe I've made it this far but I am 28 weeks and everything seems healthy so far! I'm taking early maternity in three weeks time due to a bad back and spd but I don't care, I'm going to enjoy every minute of chill time 😂 The horrible and stressful time seeme like a lifetime ago doesn't it! Xxx

Wow 28 weeks already! Good for you! Enjoy all you can. All the normal trials and tribulations seem so trivial after pregnancies like ours were don't they.

Bumble Glad your LO is thriving, how fast has time gone eh?Them bloody horrible weeks/months this time last year. My LO is 6 month old now , she doing brill. My hands are defo full though with an 18 month (14 month corrected) who into everything!! Funnily enough ,Gin seems to help!! hahah
