Harmony at FMC

It feels odd to be starting a thread here after all this time!

We lost dd2 to trisomy 18 last year. I'm now pregnant again and as part of our screening we've decided to have the harmony package at the fmc. My viability scan and blood draw is Monday and I'm shitting myself.

I guess I'm just asking for a hand hold and if anyone else has done the package there and what did the think? Was your first scan transvaginal? I had an 8 week tv scan but not sure if it will need to be at 10 weeks?

Sorry for all the questions, I'm normally here trying answer other people's questions 😳

Prett much Gary. I've never been so bloody relieved to be boring and normal.

We find out the sex next mon. They didn't tell us over the phone, I forgot to ask tbh. I'm guessing they probably wouldn't have told us anyway as it wasn't a doc I spoke to.

Kitty that's wonderful news! So glad for you and your DH. Here's to a chronically dull pregnancy from here on out Flowers!

KittyandTeal · 22/02/2016 17:00

Thanks. Iv plucked up the courage to tell dd1 too. We never managed to do that with dd2, there was always a feeling I had to not tell her until after 20 weeks.

She's very excited and keeps wanting to cuddle the baby ie my tummy. Very cute and she's old enough now to understand a basic explaination if anything goes wrong

Diggum · 22/02/2016 17:02

Oh that's so sweet! Long may the excited cuddles continue Smile.

ZombiesAreClammyDodgers · 22/02/2016 17:05

Amazing news, congratulations!!

TimeforaDietCoke · 22/02/2016 17:07

Great news Kitty! What a relief. Grin

ZombiesAreClammyDodgers · 22/02/2016 17:23

Congratulations!!! Amazing news.
By the way the fmc phone line is down so you called just in the nick of time!

ZombiesAreClammyDodgers · 22/02/2016 17:29

...and this is what happens when you think your comment has been chewed up and so you repost and find yourself looking like a twit HmmConfused

KittyandTeal · 22/02/2016 18:03

Not at all zombie.

Funny, I think it went down while I was on the phone, she said they're low risk then the phone went dead! I spent half an hour trying to call back as I could have sworn I heard her say 'low risk but...' As it cut off. Turns out it was 'it's low risk but the doc will give you the full results'

Very stressful for people in my situation trying to get results today. I feel for them all. They really are brilliant there though. Worth every penny imo

ZombiesAreClammyDodgers · 22/02/2016 18:10

Yes, have been trying to call up to book my next scan there and it's been challenging! Line kept cutting out and now completely dead. Probably just as well for me personally as now I know I couldn't call them about harmony results even if I wanted to. So you got yours in a week, right? Maybe I should ring them in a week from the day I gave bloods.

ZombiesAreClammyDodgers · 22/02/2016 18:11

But if today had been my anticipated result day I would've bitten all my nails off!

KittyandTeal · 22/02/2016 18:28

Yeah it was last Monday I did the bloods and I've got the nuchal scan a week today.

I was surprised they had them but I couldn't wait not knowing. When did you do the bloods?

Great news Kitty, I hope you can start to enjoy this pregnancy now and go into your appointment on Wednesday feeling much reassured.

JassyRadlett · 22/02/2016 19:04

Kitty, that's such fantastic news. I'm so pleased and relieved for you.

KittyandTeal · 22/02/2016 19:05

Thanks. I think I'm slowly getting my head around it. I think I'll enjoy weds now.

I'll always have creeping thoughts about things that can and might go wrong but for now it's a positive.

I'm so happy it is good news! I hope the rest of the pregnancy is uneventful Thanks

SummerMonths · 24/02/2016 08:54

Just seen your update Kitty. What fabulous news. I am so pleased for you.

FraterculaArctica · 25/02/2016 15:52

This is your thread Kitty but I'm just coming back to report that I had my first scan at the FMC today and there's a baby of the right size with a heartbeat in there Smile. Now for the two week wait for Harmony test results... We've decided to find out the sex too at this stage. Do you have any hunches which yours is Kitty?

KittyandTeal · 25/02/2016 16:59

Not my thread at all lovely.

That's wonderful news. How great. I would call after a week tbh, they had my results back within 7 days which was great.

We also opted to find out the sex but they won't tell you over the phone, only that you have low risk results so we find out on Monday when we go back for the nuchal.

I'm convicted it's a boy as I feel a bit different to my other 2 who were girls. However, I also thought that with dd2!

Got my NHS screening results today. T13 and t18 less than 1:50 000 which is as low as it gets so brilliant news. T21 was low too but I was less worried about that one :)

OP posts:
FraterculaArctica · 25/02/2016 18:29

Hah, I can't call unless their phone lines start working again (they were down again today).

That's great that your NHS screening results are so low. Interesting you think you're having a boy - I have a hunch this one's a girl as I've felt different than I did with DS (much more sick). But that might just be wishful thinking as insofar as DH and I have a preference I guess we'd like a girl.

Have you told the rest of your family and friends yet?

KittyandTeal · 25/02/2016 18:34

I'm really not fussed either way but it helps be feel a bit more normal to play the 'is it a boy/girl' game.

We started telling people properly yesterday although I told a few of my friends as soon as I found out as I needed the support.

KittyandTeal · 29/02/2016 16:36

Just a quick update; we had our last scan at fmc. All healthy, no anomolies detected so far, a negative screen from the harmony and we found out we're having a boy.

It's about as good as it gets really. I'm starting to feel like I can get a bit more excited now.

OP posts:
FraterculaArctica · 29/02/2016 17:22

I was thinking of you today Kitty, glad to hear your update! You can start thinking of boys' names now Smile.

KittyandTeal · 29/02/2016 17:26

My friends are already helpfully suggesting some corkers😄

Names are really tricky when you're a teacher. Still, it's all the lovely, normal pregnancy stuff now.

How are you getting on? Was it Thursday you had your bloods done?

OP posts:
FraterculaArctica · 29/02/2016 17:33

Yes, Thursday. It still doesn't feel too real even though we've seen the baby on the screen. We're not telling anyone till we know if the blood results and 12 week scan are OK, DF was visiting yesterday and at first I wanted to tell him but I soon kind of forgot about it! I bet the name choice will be hard being a teacher. We only made a very short shortlist for DS, DH dismissed almost everything!
