I'm genuinly interested in why you object to homosexuality, and everytime I ask on the other thread it gets lost in the general hubbub.

So - name change if you want, but please tell me what your objections are?

If it's because it's not natural or against biology, please expand your answer to include why you care about that.

Show your working for extra credit.

n.b. Don't bother if it's a religous justification, you'll need to find someone who believes in that kind of stuff to debate with as I'll just dismiss that out of hand. If you are a homopohbic religous person with a secular objection then please go ahead.

Mention of the Ancient Greeks and their gay ways reminded me of this joke:

A Greek and an Italian were sitting in a coffee-shop one day discussing who had the superior culture.

Over their triple lattes the Greek guy says, "Well, we have the Parthenon."

Arching his eyebrows, the Italian replies, "We have the Coliseum."

The Greek retorts, "We Greeks gave birth to advanced mathematics."

The Italian, nodding agreement, says, "But we built the Roman Empire."

And so on and so on, until the Greek comes up with what he thinks will end the discussion.

With a flourish of finality he says, "We invented sex!"

The Italian replies, "That is true - but it was the Italians who introduced it to women!"

DP - lots of straight men like anal sex with dildos, y'know - I believe it's called pegging

The reason HIV is being transmitted rapidly through the heterosexual population is because it is a microscopic virus which doesn't care what the sex, sexuality or location of mucous membrane of the human being it gets through, just as long as it gets through.

ooojimaflip · 10/12/2009 23:36

Notanamechanger - do you object to heterosexuals who are promiscuous and casual sex with strangers?

OP posts:
Notanamechanger · 10/12/2009 23:37

Men are naturally promiscuous, women are not.

They need each other for balance.

2 blokes = lots of random sex with strangers

2 women = lots of possessive, hysterical, hormone induced arguments.

And I have observed both scenarios in gay couples who have been my friends.

standandeliver · 10/12/2009 23:38

"because there is no function for homosexuals in a population from biological point of view.

Or the one in five women who choose not to have children I presume?

"And because a very high proprtion of my gay friends had been sexually abused or had violent parents of the opposite sex."

Ah well - you have an axe to grind. I have gay friends and none of them come from families that are any more dysfunctional than the norm.

TBH I find the comments on this thread about homosexual sex really horrible, weird and distasteful. Such an obsession with anal sex. My gay friends are in stable, deeply loving relationships - their relationships are complex and involved, just like your are, and are about far more than just sex.

ooojimaflip · 10/12/2009 23:38

Notanamechanger - would you agree that you object to promiscuity and anal sex, and that therefore you disagree with the behaviour of some gay men rather than with homosexuality?

OP posts:
almay292 · 10/12/2009 23:41

Surely the problem with homophobes is that they are obsessed with sex?

ooojimaflip · 10/12/2009 23:42

What are your objections to anal sex and promiscuity though? How do these effect you?

OP posts:
Notanamechanger · 10/12/2009 23:42

ooji - I don't object to any consenting adults having sex with strangers. After many years of marriage I would probably be up for it myself

But I don't believe homosexuality is a natural or innate behaviour, and I wouldn't wish it for my dc as I have seen, first hand, the emotional and physical problems it brings.

And yes, I know straight people get those problems too, but not to the same degree and, well, a penis was kind of designed to fit into a vagina, tbh. You can't deny that.

Blu · 10/12/2009 23:42

"because there is no function for homosexuals in a population from biological point of view."

If DP and I get run over by a simultaneous buses, my lesbian best friend, and DS's 'good mother' will bring him up - a v important child-rearing function, and bloody good she will be at it too.

Notanamechanger · 10/12/2009 23:43

Standanddeliver -what do you find distasteful? My graphic but completely accurate description of my friend having sex?

Notanamechanger · 10/12/2009 23:45

Blu - am sure there are many straight people who could perform that funsction.

If we were all gay what would happen? Oh yes, forgot - we'd die out in a generation.

What a clever gene that is!

ooojimaflip · 10/12/2009 23:46

Namechanger - why does it make a difference if something is innate or not?

gonaenodaethat · 10/12/2009 23:46

Homophobes always seem so ANGRY about homosexuality.
Makes me wonder if they're envious of the individuals who have had the courage and opportunity to admit who they really are.
(i.e. homophobe = suppressed homosexual)

Just wondering..

daftpunk · 10/12/2009 23:46

oooji;

i think you'll have to accept that to lots of people homosexuality is seen as wrong. mumsnet has only a tiny percentage of views and opinions...sure most posters on MN are very liberal and accepting....but in RL it's a bit different....

ooojimaflip · 10/12/2009 23:47

Name, I think if we were all gay, we would probably come up with some kind of rota for reproducaiton in order to produce enough people to look after us in out dotage.

OP posts:
daftpunk · 10/12/2009 23:49

i'm not angry about homosexuality...they can do what they fucking like..

what pisses me off is people telling me i have to accept it, and that my 9 yr old has to be exposed to it....

Notanamechanger · 10/12/2009 23:49

Ooji - I'm sorry but you won't succeed in cornering me into saying it's wrong or that I disapprove. Nice tries though

This thread gave me the perfect opportunity to vent my views which - let's face it - would get me sooooooo flamed on any other thread, and under my real name.

I suggest you go after Mamma now -she is likely to prove much more fruitful than me.

Oh, but what about the butch lesbians eh?

Night all!

daftpunk · 10/12/2009 23:51

isn't it sad that posters feel they have to name change....

so wrong..

ooojimaflip · 10/12/2009 23:52

daftpunk - yes I know lot's of people think homosexuality is wrong, but I still don't understand why. For somepeople there is an 'ick' factor. Fair enough, we don't all have to like everything everyone else does, but that doesn't mean we necesserily say we should stop them doing it.

OP posts:
NotanOtter · 10/12/2009 23:53

your recent threads scare me somewhat daftpunk - bit of a theme?

Notanamechanger · 10/12/2009 23:53

dp - exactly.

MN is full of homophobe-phobes

Was that your thread about your dc at school. dp?

100% behind you - but was too scared to say so at the time.

Sorry for not supporting you.

ooojimaflip · 10/12/2009 23:59

CarmenSanDiego - sounds like a mid-life crisis.
