My kids are genetically flawed, its true
Funny how you picked on the one person who posted in your favour originally though OP isn't it? daft evcven
yes my kids ahve a disorder that is probably genetic, I suspect I understand that better than you as it is what I am studying for my MA. but The ASD is only one aspect of them- ds3, the more severe, is a person who brings joy to all, despite ASD he is loving, happy, incredibly bright and makes a very real difference to many poeple who are lucky enough to know him.
DS1 otoh is a proper little blossoming brainy type, I fully beleive his ASD will make the world a better place through practical application- robots is his big thing, so many applications.
Most of all though they have humanity, and even with their SN they have compassion. Compassion is such an essentialpart of being a human isn't it?
A great many of the worlds advances were made by people who almost certainly had spectrum disorders before the namewas well known (for AS it wasn't common in the UK until the 90's, IIRC 50's for Autism).
My children are perfect tome. I won'tpretend they fir any societalmodel of eprfection (although I have two that do as well). They have brought me much and I am grateful for them. yes my income has been affected but I am not poor- not by any means. I am blessed in a great many ways, in fact. A DH I am in love with and who lovs me; kids we adore; enough money. What else is there? Financial gain was never a big motivator for me- I am Quaker by nature if not attendance- so ewhilst IO could probably ahve used my good degree to earn laods, I am not someone who feels the need.
Dh will again; this is but a blip caused by nobody much. There's amassive shortage of trained people in the industry he is studying 9and he is thriving on his course). That is enough, weareworthwhile, contributing in many ways and I am happy.
