To Want More Money?

SWMBO · 05/12/2009 22:11

Hello

my DH is a lawyer and earns quite a bit. we have separate bank accounts and he pays for all the bills, food etc. and everything DS and DD need.
he gives me £750 per month for me to pamper myself and to buy my own things as i don't work.
but i'm finding that this isn't enough, a few spa visits and shopping trips and it all goes.

AIBU to want more? DH says I'm spoilt but I honestly think I need maybe an extra £500 a month. its no like DH can't afford it...

Endangered Species that is Genius. We definitely need a "I'm bored come and talk shit" topic

MikeStand · 05/12/2009 22:29

I'm amazed that on that amount you manage spa visits blah di blah.
Are you a bit sad and need bolstering. Otherwise I do not get you (and your small budget). Tell hubbey to try harder! Ironic emotico required.

SWMBO · 05/12/2009 22:29

monika takes care of DCs essentials and does the shopping

Shineynewthings · 05/12/2009 22:32

Primark! Do you even know what that is? Like I said, let's swap days!

Ronaldinhio · 05/12/2009 22:33

yanbu

it he truly can easily afford it

Put it to him as a payrise...work out your current monthly hours and what you are given for the work you perform
Show it is less than minimum wage
he will relent and pay more into your bank account

or foresake the spa and get a job, earn your own money

hard one

MillyR · 05/12/2009 22:34

So take some of the food and clothes allowance from Monika and spend it on going out. You are saving money on household food bills by eating lunch out so can justify using some of the housekeeping money.

MollieO · 05/12/2009 22:34

Gosh I don't know how you could be expected to manage on £750/month. I think an increase of £500 is more than reasonable. It is so hard to go out for lunch these days and spend less than £50. As for spa days where can one go that costs less than £200?

SWMBO · 05/12/2009 22:34

Primark? I am guessing it is a shop, is it like Aldi?

I'm sorry but all these people on benefits moaning at me you or your DP should just try harder in life

Ronaldinhio's idea is rather good. Also, you could think of other things DH could pay for so you don't have to pay for it out of your pin money - could the gym membership come out as a direct debit from his account?

fledtoscotland · 05/12/2009 22:42

I think you are a troll (or have a death wish) posting this here. Your "pocket money" is more than my basic salary a month. I work as a part time nurse 3 evenings a week so its not like I'm on minimum wage.

You really need to get a grip and/or a reality check.

also, why on earth do you expect your husband to pay you to pamper yourself? do you not have any self respect? Get a job if you want additional luxuries

scottishmummy · 05/12/2009 22:43

yes!see physio and urologist.private of course

you dont know your arse from elbow
and you talk shite

mellifluouscauliflower · 05/12/2009 22:44

Why do you have separate bank accounts? The daft sums involved cloud the issue here, I think.

I never get why people are happy to pool their lives, their genes, their hearts, their bodies, their youth, their future...but somehow not their money? It just smacks of a hollow centre, a lack of true commitment..

(OK..just kill me now everyone :-))

SWMBO - I wasn't going to post on this thread as I suspect it is a wind up - but in case it isn't .......

You're actually not very nice are you. You must realise why this post would be irksome to some, especially as Christmas is coming and lots of people are finding it hard to make ends meet.

Using it as an excuse to insult people on benefits or those who didn't manage to marry quite so well is just a little bit common now isn't it sweetheart.

BitOfFun · 05/12/2009 22:46

I get weary of spa days- I am like a prune from it, and have to resort to burning fifty pound notes to warm up afterwards.

EndangeredSpecies · 05/12/2009 22:46

OK?

said the troll to the littlest billy goat gruff.

I can talk shit all evening.

SWMBO · 05/12/2009 22:46

it's just always been that way.

fledtoscotland, you're only a nurse, if you wanted a better life perhaps you should have been a doctor or married one.
