NHS and ARMED FORCES

maturestudentlikegoodwine · 24/07/2009 21:27

am I being unreasonable to suggest the government gives money to the NHS and to our forces who are both in need of equipment, rather than hand out money to immigrants and assylum seekers?
I have just come out of hospital, it wasnt the cleanest of places, and there only seemed to be one nurse on the whole ward!!! with other care assistants, but the care I received was second to none and the girls did a sterling job as do our boys fighting in substandard kit.
It annoys me at all the handouts our government gives in benefits to people who come to our country looking for a better life. Also we are told the country will take 5 years to recover from the recession, so why for the love of God did we ever agree to hold the olypics here???????

Qally you are being anal for the sake of being anal. You Know damn well that I am not sneering at genuine benefit claimers nor looking down my nose at honest hard working people who pay their taxes and NI contributions bla bla bla.I am sneering at those that abuse the system and are genuine scroungers, for whom benefit cheating is a way of life, and who are wasting resources that could otherwise be spent elsewhere on worthwhile causes.and your bigotted too in your opinions rather than see the bigger picture, you focus on a mere pixel!

OP posts:
corkyOrorky · 24/07/2009 22:38

Could you explain the difference between a genuine benefit claimant and a genuine scrounger please?

Qally · 24/07/2009 22:38

Of course it's disgusting. They had every right to live here. Unfortunately the hysteria in certain quarters about immigration meant the government got nervous about hundreds of thousands of people - foreign people, and not white either - being given that right. See where I'm going, here?

Frankly I think a big part of the problem is that we couldn't afford to go into Iraq on the scale we did in the first place, and we are making our forces pay for that with inadequate kit and sub-par support when injured. It's outrageous, I agree. Though how exactly you imagine we could equip and pay for all our population to serve, when we can't the army we already have, I don't know. Better a small, highly skilled and well equipped army, no? And isn't there a certain contradiction in on the one hand applauding the troops for protecting and defending our human rights, and on the other saying "to hell with human rights"?

Frankly I have concerns about the costs of sending everyone to university. That's a considerable burden for the state, and not everyone will be able to benefit.

I also think the Daily Mail has a lot to answer for. Though perhaps it reflects, rather than moulds, prejudices. Depressing, either way.

maturestudentlikegoodwine · 24/07/2009 22:38

Forensic Science and Criminology actually!!!!!!!!!
What do you do Vulpusinawilfsuit and Qally? Claim benefits? seeing as you are so quick defend? or do you work in the benefits office? good job that will never be made redundant!

OP posts:
VulpusinaWilfsuit · 24/07/2009 22:41

Jesus. Where?

Criminology?! Then especially shame on you for your poisonous ill-informed views.

Have you done any of the required reading on your course?

corkyOrorky · 24/07/2009 22:42

Criminology? There's plenty of crime about too according to the Daily mail. Good career move.

MitchyInge · 24/07/2009 22:45

trollology

nobody could really be that bigoted, this is like a caricature of the daily mail

Qally · 24/07/2009 22:45

No, I'm not being "anal for the sake of it". I'm disagreeing with you because I think you are spouting crap out of your arse. I think you are talking total wank, and when it comes to much of your info (benefits/housing entitlements for asylum seekers; state support for students) I happen to know that you are flat out wrong. Saying so is my prerogative, just as said spouting of crap is yours.

Attacking me on a personal level because you are incapable of debating on any other simply weakens your position further. If possible, which tbh I rather doubt.

maturestudentlikegoodwine · 24/07/2009 22:48

Well put Qally I like your reasoning.

I am not saying send the kids off into a war zone however, I am saying national service would do non of our teenagers any harm, society would have far more respect, people would learn to appreciate what they have, I seriously think society will destroy itself eventually,

Human rights has been taken too far, I am not going to go into that one as thats a whole new can af worms amd I am a coward at heart and am being shot down in flames here but I enjoy a good debate even when it gets heated, and mud gets slung, thats why I came on here, so thanks to all those who chewed it over with me x

Well here is what I think of this, for what it is fucking worth.

I have had extensive experience of the NHS. It is fucking brilliant. Ok I had to do some cleaning but usually because people are bloody pigs and leave the wards, bathrooms etc in a state for someone else to clean. But my daughter's treatment cost hundreds of thousands of pounds. I didnt have to worry for one second about how much it was costing or make any choices regarding which drugs etc based on insurance.

Many, many of the wonderful nurses and doctors who treated my DD with care and compassion were immigrants! OMFG I let them near my child. And they all spoke perfect English and didnt try to convert any of us to Islam or any other immigrant religon - can you believe it?

The NHS has always struggled. Even at its conception it found it near impossible to keep up with demand. This has never changed and never will. It is a bottomless money pit and the better it is, the more it costs.

I am constantly amazed at how short people's memories are and how limited their knowledge of history is. Since when have the 'ordinary' troops been treated with the respect they deserve. During which conflict exactly did they have all the gear they needed and the best quality supplies they deserved? The last Gulf - nope, WWII - nope WWI - nope. Infact the poor bastards have always had to put up with substandard kit and feck all when they get home at the end of it. I dont recall reading anything about an influx of eastern europeans in 1914 or 1939 so I am pretty sure they were not the cause then anymore than they are now.

My OH is the son of immigrants. He fought for this county and paid dearly for it. He now has to claim some benefits and has to use the NHS a fair bit. How does he fit in your benefits, nhs, soldier, immigrant equation?

Frankly your OP reads like a letter to the News of the World. Have you thought about sharing your peircing commentry on life in the UK with them?

maturestudentlikegoodwine · 24/07/2009 22:51

This thread has also reminded me of a 'joke' that was popular in the 80s (when I worked for the NHS)

wouldnt it be great if the Government had to hold jumble sales to buy guns and ammunition and we didnt have to to buy beds?

Qally · 24/07/2009 22:53

Troll troll troll! Your persona is all over the place. (Not a bad troll as they go, I have to admit. .)

Thunderduck · 24/07/2009 22:53

You're like a Daily Mail on legs OP.

I'm tired of people saying that human rights have gone too far.
They'd be the first to kick and scream if their human rights were taken from them.

VulpusinaWilfsuit · 24/07/2009 22:53
MitchyInge · 24/07/2009 22:57

scary to think someone could gain a first and not know how to spell scary

corkyOrorky · 24/07/2009 22:58

Bad job DP, must try harder.

maturestudentlikegoodwine · 24/07/2009 22:59

ffs... is everyone taking this totally out of context... no one is decrying assylum seekers ( I have appologised for that )i am talking about people who come over here smuggled in lorries with fake ID etc. because it is an easy way of life. It is easy come on some one admit that our benefit system is rubbish. Chegirl what is the rant about the NHS for, I have already said what a wonderful service they have given under the circumstances. did you not read my post about the Gurkas being allowed to live here bla bla bla. so that should answer you about immigrants soldiers nhs bits.

OP posts:
Thunderduck · 24/07/2009 22:59

Which of these human rights would you like to remove from the list OP?
Which of those would you care to live without?

maturestudentlikegoodwine · 24/07/2009 23:03

Yeah it is scarey, but my fingers are flying so fast my brain isnt connecting. Why is everyone being so hostile to me and calling me a troll?? at the end of the day its kept the entertainment going for the evening
and we all must be mighty saaaddd to be on here. I know Im bored and lonely after massive op last week and Im not allowed to drive for 6 weeks

OP posts:
clemette · 24/07/2009 23:04

What do you plan to do with your degree? Please, please don't say you plan to join the police force.

Can you not see the idiocy irony of saying that people go through the horror of being smuggled in unventilated lorries for an "easy" life?

chegirl · 24/07/2009 23:05

The 'rant' about the NHS (as you put it) is because the NHS is not crumbling as you imply and its not falling apart because of the hoards of scrounging immigrants flocking to our shores.

Its the sort of emotive claptrap used by anyone who wants an excuse to blap on about asylum seekers and immigrants. Ditto 'our boys'. You will be talking about sick kiddies and pensioners next.

How can human rights be takent 'too far'?

And do you really believe the majority of immigrants come over here for a cushy life on benefits? How do you know that? How do you know that the NHS is falling apart because of them and that our Soldiers dont have helicopters because of them?

Where did you find that out?

maturestudentlikegoodwine · 24/07/2009 23:06

thunderduck I have already said Im not going into human rights malarky

OP posts:
clemette · 24/07/2009 23:07

I just wish "mature students" would concentrate more on their spelling, capitalisation and punctuation and less on their condemnation of people they know nothing about... sigh.
