To be annoyed with childminder for giving DS ready made pasta?

The freshly stuffed type you buy from M&S? We had an agreement that all meals would be freshly cooked. I take ages making each meal for him from scratch and have never given him pre-prepared or convenience food and bit annoyed she has.

OP posts:

Can't stop laughing... I love good food and try my hardest to feed my kids the freshest and best I can. Having said that... YAB EXTREMELY U!!

themoon66 · 23/05/2009 23:51

For some reason this thread makes me think of Spam Fritters. A rare school dinner treat!

jabberwocky · 24/05/2009 00:59

Spam

Blondeshavemorefun · 24/05/2009 09:17

BELLA obv organic - the mum brought it fresh from the butchers - there was no crap or fat in it at all!!

tho i must add, that when i leave here, i am going to eat piggy - hog roast bbq at my local pub -sure that wont be organic!!

spicemonster · 24/05/2009 09:22

I'm a bit confused that the nanny only makes one meal a day but the OP doesn't make breakfast or dinner for her DC either.

Anyway, this thread prompted me to look at the ingredients on the spinach and ricotta tortellini that I give my DS on a regular basis and am pleased to report that they are cheese, ricotta and breadcrumbs. So I think my perfect mother halo is intact.

TrinityIsLovingHerLittleRhino · 24/05/2009 09:26

is this still going on lol

bella39 · 24/05/2009 09:28

Thanks for the link, jabberwocky - that's me on the left at the 2005 Spam Ball.

What a night that was! Still have the menu -
Potage de Spam

Fillet of Turbot with a Spam Crust

Roast Spam Dauphinoise

Medley of Spam Terrine, Spam Brulee and Spam Clafoutis with a Spam Coulis

Just brill!

Blondie - as long as you wash it down your usual dozen organic tequila slammers, that's okay

Blondeshavemorefun · 24/05/2009 09:37

trinty - it is still going on, as i want snippets to come back and tell us how the pasta got there, she says it wasnt in her fridge, therefore nanny must have brought it

does that mean that snippets doesnt have things in her fridge/frezer that nanny can use to cook a meal - ie mince, chicken, salmon etc to make a pie/casserole etc

now snippets has given us all the facts - was def an aibu by stealth imho - yes i can understand why she was pissed off that her nanny who looks after one child, cant make a healthy meal

there is nothing wrong with what mums give their children to eat,its their child and their choice even spam but as snippets is paying her nanny to look after her child, she is entitled to be annoyed

bella - i am being good and driving, so no slammers unless you count the coke kind - liquid not powder!!

KingCanuteIAm · 24/05/2009 09:46

Well we are getting close to the magic 1000, Snippets should be along again sometime soon just to make sure it gets there

Morning Bella and Blondes

Inspired by this thread I went out last night and bought a packet of filled fresh pasta (only Sainsbury though, I can't afford M&S) turns out it has no artificial ingredients at all, it did have some salt (but I think pasta has salt in anyway doesn't it?) it had citric acid too but that is fine isn't it? So, it seems, the whole thread has, possibly, been based on s claim that is a lot of hooey in any case

Snippets, if M&S filled pasta is like Sainsbury filled pasta and has no artificial ingredients then YABevenmoreU than I first though

Blondeshavemorefun · 24/05/2009 10:07

morning king

nearly a 1000 - wow!!

KingCanuteIAm · 24/05/2009 10:17

Ooh, decent food, thanks Blondes

spicemonster · 24/05/2009 10:19

I was quite disappointed by the purity of ingredients in my pasta I must say. Then again I feel my DS on houmous, falafel, pesto and have only made my own bread once in my life.

I've been on holiday and was delighted to see this thread when I came back. We haven't had a good PFB thread for ages

Am personally pissed as a fart, having quaffed the rest of the bottle of sparkiling rose after making Delia's summer fruit terrine for tea tonight. Was going to give it to the dc too but realised it contains a lot of (raw) alcohol in it, so thought better of it.

Decided instead to use rest of summer fruits plus gelatine to make a non-alco jelly for the little ones.

But I'm out of juice. So I used (look away now, Blondes etc):

fruit shooooooooooooooooooooooot

Discalimer: do not usually keep them in the house but dd had put in a special request this week. Normally only Innocent Smoothies, honest.

Fruit shoot jelly looks dis - -ooooh , what's the word now god, I am pissed

anyway, cloudy in a bad way.

KC - you eloqwuent person - help me out with the words!

Anyone made a successful fruit shoot jelly?

Blondeshavemorefun · 24/05/2009 17:57

fraid not bella

but have made a good vodka watermelon

KingCanuteIAm · 24/05/2009 18:24

Disgusting?

Are you asleep now in a suuny, drunken haze? We have been out on a bike ride for 4.5 hours

Came back expecting puppy to be spitting chips and sulking to find him sunbathing in the garden. He looked at me with a face that said "if you expect me to move you can bugger off think again. The neighbour said he has only moved to drink water and flop in the shade for a bit then back to sunbathing!

I am going to hit the bottle now, I think I have earned a few alcohol calories this afternoon

bella39 · 24/05/2009 18:44

Fruit shoot jelly a roaring success.

Must share.

Bella's Fruitshoot Jelly

200ml just boiled water
2 x 11g sachets gelatine
1 x 200ml blackcurrant & apple fruitshoot
Approx 300g mixed strawbs/rasps/blueberries

Method:

Whisk gelatine into hot water until fully dissolved. Add fruitshoot, mix well and allow to cool.

Artistically arrange fruit over base of flan tin/jelly mould/empty microwave meal carton (that was you, OP ).

Pour liquid over fruit, cover with clingfilm and weight with suitable combination of plates/tomato tins etc.

Chill for approx 2-3 hrs.

Serve & enjoy.

KingCanuteIAm · 24/05/2009 19:04

Sounds quite nice - although I would be more interested in the alcoholic one right now

bella39 · 24/05/2009 19:29

Substitute 200ml water and 200ml fruitshoot for your choice of alcohol.

YOU LUSH

KingCanuteIAm · 24/05/2009 19:30

Only when the day has a Y in it

bella39 · 24/05/2009 19:33

bella39 · 24/05/2009 19:42

Anyone else for jelly?

KingCanuteIAm · 24/05/2009 22:11

Ooh, me... do you have any more wine to go with it?

76

Horton · 24/05/2009 22:36

I love the sound of the summer fruit thing with wine in it. What a good idea.

bella39 · 24/05/2009 22:53

How are your size 8 feet today, Horton?

74 not out.
