To be annoyed with childminder for giving DS ready made pasta?

The freshly stuffed type you buy from M&S? We had an agreement that all meals would be freshly cooked. I take ages making each meal for him from scratch and have never given him pre-prepared or convenience food and bit annoyed she has.

OP posts:

pmsl @ this fab thread!!!

snippets - take them chips off thy shoulder and feed them to yer kids FFS!

PinkTulips · 21/05/2009 15:36

i use molasses in my tomatoe sauce [ducks and runs]

bella39 · 21/05/2009 16:11

I suggest you hire Blondeshavemorefun.

Not only is she a qualified nanny, she feeds her dog organic pork

Blondeshavemorefun · 21/05/2009 16:30

i am a fab nanny and obv a modest one

though no money would lure me from my current family, i love them dearly

the dog STOLE the pork!!!!

bella39 · 21/05/2009 16:50

She's being modest, you know.

I am certain that pork was chosen specially for her hound.

And you would not believe the lengths she goes to for her hamster

I am currently compiling Bella's Top 10 Pet Owners, and let's just say Blondie is pretty high on my list.

So, have you fired that miscreant of a childminder yet, OP?

KingCanuteIAm · 21/05/2009 17:53

Bet I don't make it to your top ten Bella - what with my evil treatment of my dog and all - I make him eat dog food and he has to sleep on the floor

Oh, and hands of Blondes, I have given myself first refusal on her services should she become available

Blondeshavemorefun · 21/05/2009 21:01

hamster yes get pampered, dogs no

but i like the fact im in your top 10

and yes king, you have 1st refusal

so snippets are you saying that your nanny spent her money/kitty money on this dreadful item of food?

Snippets, I hope you come back to this thread, it's one of the best I've seen. I would love to be given M&S food - especially fresh pasta out of a packet (hang on that doesn't sound right?). all I can say how lucky is your ds!! Try to stay away from findus crispy pancakes - cheese & ham.

"because the nanny probably wasn't going to inject the child with passata"
ROFL

I know it's quite a few posts back, so apologies for that, but i've just got back after a couple of ridiculously long shifts and it made me laugh - a lot. Thanks Milly R.

KingCanuteIam, don't bother, Isenhart doesn't have a sense of humour

KingCanuteIAm · 22/05/2009 12:54

No sense of humour? But she is a MNer... How can you be a MNer with no sense of humour?

thumbwitch · 23/05/2009 01:18

KCIA, I am sure I have come across a couple of MNers whose sense of humour was left at the door before now (present company obviously excepted! )

Portofino · 23/05/2009 05:58

I fancy some cripy pancakes now! . Which, as it is 7am, is very sad.

bella39 · 23/05/2009 07:56

Fray Bentos pie going in the oven here...

cbmummy · 23/05/2009 07:56

Beyond ridiculous

bella39 · 23/05/2009 10:35
Portofino · 23/05/2009 10:48

There is nothing ridiculous about Fray Bentos. As expats we have them for a treat!

JenniPenni · 23/05/2009 11:03

I have (very!) briefly read this thread... and yes, think a nanny should feed a child what the parents are paying her to feed him. BUT maybe she was a tad rushed and wasn't able to? Were they are an outing/at the park or something, time ran short and she popped into M&S on the way home? It has superb food anyhow, so I wouldn't complain about that myself.

And just one more thing... childminders get a heck of a lot of flack already... in future please give the correct facts from the start.

Blondeshavemorefun · 23/05/2009 14:14

see if snippets had be truthful at the start ie a nanny and not cm - half of the posts wouldnt have been said, ie be grateful a cm uses her money to buy nice M&S patsa

and if she said that the pasta wasnt in her fridge and that the nanny brought it herself, then she would have had a lot more support

yes i think her nanny is a lazy toadrag not to cook one meal a day when looking after one child

asi said before, i have 3 under 6.5 and i manage to cook every day as that is what my mb is paying me for

im proxy parenting this weekend, and baby and 3.5 are asleep and i have just made a shepherds pie

isenhart7 · 23/05/2009 15:56

Speaking of halos, I make about twenty meals a day plus pet food with no salary to the specifications of five individuals, two dogs, one cat, one fish, and a bird so I figure said paid nanny could make one meal per day to the satisfaction of one mum and babe.

Horton · 23/05/2009 16:35

I don't think it's unreasonable for the nanny to stick to whatever the rules are, either. But I suspect the root of the problem is that the rules aren't clear enough. I mean, I would personally count stuffed pasta with a homemade sauce as fresh food. It wouldn't occur to me to class it as the same as a ready meal or whatever. And I probably wouldn't have given stuffed pasta to a 13 month old as I would have worried about the salt but I give it to my 2.8 year old once or twice a week because it's quick, convenient and we both like it. It's unreasonable to expect a nanny to know what the rules really are unless they've been properly explained.

isenhart7 · 23/05/2009 17:38

Horton-no homemade sauce in this case as I recall-but I recalled this child's age incorrectly-is 14 months-so could be wrong. Do agree about there needing to be an agreement as to what constitutes "fresh".

bella39 · 23/05/2009 23:02

That Spam didn't fill me up much.

Chuck us some shepherd's pie, Blondie. Organic , I trust?

tigerdriver · 23/05/2009 23:22

crikey do they still make Fray Bentos
