The freshly stuffed type you buy from M&S? We had an agreement that all meals would be freshly cooked. I take ages making each meal for him from scratch and have never given him pre-prepared or convenience food and bit annoyed she has.

variety is the spice of life..

when the kid is old enough he will do as they all do and go down the shops by himself and gorge on crap.. then at about 15 to the pub and get pissed..(presumably organic beer right because Mum says its good for you)

i am sorry but where do some of you women live.. In a paralell bloody universe

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 19/05/2009 20:01

I will repeat my comment from another thread..

children are dying all the time because they don't have enough food or clean water...

makes you think, surely!!

pinkmagic1 · 19/05/2009 20:04

I havn't got anywhere near enough time to read the whole thread but OP, get a grip and get a life!

KingCanuteIAm · 19/05/2009 21:25

Lostinthecitylover, have you pointed out to XnewP that, at some point in the not too distant, the PFB will be in a grotty pub somewhere necking Stella till it comes out of his ears and all her water and milk will have to sing for it at that point?

mummytowillow · 19/05/2009 21:50

Hee hee, I love threads like this!!

My CM gives my daughter sausage rolls!! Oooh the shock and horror of it!! At least she gets her to eat though!!

I lovingly prepared chicken, cheesy pasta that looks practically the same as the 'pre-prepared crap' your going on about and my DD pushes it away and says 'yuk'. She will quite happily wolf down the ready made stuff, who cares at least she's eating!!

Get over yourself and be happy your CM is doing a good job, mine is wonderful so what if she gives her a sausage rolls every now and then, at least she doesn't put it in a Greggs bag!!

piscesmoon · 19/05/2009 21:57

Your whole problem Snippets was your OP-people only read that, so they still think it was a CM!

Sorry Mistlethrush - 'twas me.

There was a tired lady near Ide
who through Mumsnet would eagerly read
Each night in her bed
She eagerly read
All the posts by the rich and in need.

tattifer · 19/05/2009 22:31

Oh, Ide is pronounced Eed.

tattifer · 19/05/2009 22:33

Somebody mentioned citric acid earlier (in passata) junkies use it when they cook up their gear...

kidowner · 19/05/2009 22:52

I've just come across this thread.

I have a question for Snippets and all you other mners...

When your little one was just starting to eat solids and very hungry but no jar of baby food in sight, and watching you eat with great interest, did you ever give him/her some of your own masticated food?

Did you know that by chewing (good) food well you are able to get the exact consistency to feed your baby as well as it being the perfect temperature? (And very convenient with no mess (you transfer food directly from your mouth to baby's)

I wonder a. how many of you have tried it
b. how many of you would like to try it
c. how many think it's gross? (gross Snippet?)

Just wondering as that is how the bulk of the world's population begin to feed their babies, and did so before spoons/bowls were invented.

It's completely natural and to be grossed out would show how far removed we've become from nature.

mistlethrush · 19/05/2009 23:01

Tattifer - you shouldn't have. I spent too long (not very, but still too long) thinking up new ones when I was meant to be working today.

tattifer · 19/05/2009 23:06

Apologies again Mistlethrush

As for mastication!

My father always had a weird expression - instead of watching paint dry, is equivalent to indicate something was time consuming useless was that it was like chewing food the NAAFI ducks?!

tattifer · 19/05/2009 23:08

I once had a very smart duck
Who could only quack but not cluck
He got very upset
When his webbed feet got wet
But the rest of us gave not a f**k

apologies

YABU

thumbwitch · 19/05/2009 23:55

kidowner - yes, done that, with early tastes of meat because he had no teeth with which to chew it. DH has ishoos with it and DS's slobber - I don't (which truly amazes me but just shows how the mother thing really changes your whole outlook - I had massive Ishoos with drool before having him!)

er king canute - we haven't had the pleasure of meeting yet

Cosmosis · 20/05/2009 14:28

"Somebody mentioned citric acid earlier (in passata) junkies use it when they cook up their gear... "

pure evil then obviously. I'd better stop buying passata before I turn into a drug addict.

MillyR · 20/05/2009 14:43

Heroin users have to use pure citric acid rather than citric acid in lemon juice because they are injecting and lemon juice can cause fungal infections. I think passata is probably safe with either form of the acid because the nanny probably wasn't going to inject the child with passata. But who knows what she might have been capable of, as she doesn't make her own pasta.

Blondeshavemorefun · 20/05/2009 14:44

for those who you who havent read the whole thread

the cm was a nanny

the pasta was in the op fridge

king still want to employ me?
