I can't get into the old thread so I think we filled it up! I hope everyone finds the new one.

So nice, shiny new thread, nice shiny new AIBU.

AIBU to be jealous of my DH's correspondence with a stranger?

Pogle, I feel I ought to know yours but I'm not getting anywhere.

Maria, this isn't ringing bells at all now. Doh!

pollywobbledoodle · 14/05/2009 14:50

moomin and pogle eggsellent guesses!

Pogleswood · 14/05/2009 19:21

OK,llandb,who are you then? Please?
Think I'll give up on first AIBU!( name not skeletal in any way - welsh in fact.Owain Glyndwr eat your heart out!)
If I survive the parents,Stalag 14, AKA school, etc I may get to be the girlfriend of a luurve god...
(Perhaps I shouldn't be admitting to having read this...)

MoominMymbleandMy · 14/05/2009 19:43

Pogle, are you into snogging of the full frontal kind?

Great titles, what did you think of them, and for what age DD, would you say?

I am so stumped on the Welsh schoolboy! Grrr!

OP posts:
CJCregg · 14/05/2009 19:50

Moomin, will you give us a fecking teeny clue on the false teeth etc, please? Is it anything to do with Angela Carter?!

Pogleswood · 14/05/2009 19:57

Yep,'fraid so !I thought the early ones at least were pretty funny(not deep in any way though!)Probably for teenage DD's - all about boys, snogging etc ,but jokey.it would also depend on your DD and family - we are all late developers here!(Strangely when they were published in the USA 'That's when it fell off in my hand...' was changed to 'Away laughing on a fast camel...'!!??)
So,do you give up on my schoolboy? He didn't want to be the Beekeeper...

CJCregg · 14/05/2009 20:18

llandb, can you tell me who the fair lady was?

MoominMymbleandMy · 14/05/2009 21:29

Pogle, I'll bear the nuddy pants and furry shorts in mind for later then (the DD is only 10) - but they are cracking titles.

I don't want to give in on the Beekeeper, dammit! But it is ringing no bells at all so I'm hoping someone else can help out - sounds intriguing anyway.

Further clue...what a good thing my deceased DH had our own generator installed. But, as he appears to have been part of this conspiracy to end civilisation as we know it, I suppose it's not surprising...

I know you know this author, CJ!

OP posts:
MoominMymbleandMy · 14/05/2009 21:31

Oops, sorry, and it's not Angela Carter!

OP posts:
CJCregg · 14/05/2009 21:45

I don't know!

MoominMymbleandMy · 14/05/2009 22:38

CJ, please don't bash your poor head! It is a bit obscure but it is the one I've most enjoyed by this author, even though her others are far better known.

Anyway, this author (whom you do know definitely) said her most notable characteristic was "arrested development", because she had her first novel published when she was an OAP.

CJCregg · 14/05/2009 22:59

Thank you, Moomin. I had no bloody idea MW wrote apocalyptic fiction! Is it any good? Sounds quite creepy.

Still, quite impressed I managed to drag Angela Carter up from the depths of my memory, even if it was wrong!

Still stuck on Pogle's reluctant beekeeper/schoolboy/Welsh whatever ...

MoominMymbleandMy · 15/05/2009 01:35

Oh, it has taken forever to get back in tonight!

CJ, I thought MW made life post-Apocalypse rather dangerously attractive. It was definitely the most cheerful of its type I've read.

Pogle, sorry, is it possible to cough up any more clues without giving the entire plot away?!

AIBU to want to contact the nearest British consulate? My weird cousins and their even more peculiar friends have practically kidnapped me.

Night all!

Worldsworstmummy · 15/05/2009 01:42

Can I come back and play?please? had a strange couple of weeks. not much of an excuse. But kinda lost the will to live....

CJCregg · 15/05/2009 10:02

WWM, of course you can! Sorry you've been having a bad time. We are all totally stuck on Pogle's latest, so any ideas most welcome.

I gave up on MN last night, it was hopeless. Unfortunately this didn't lead to much inspiration either ...

AIBU to suspect that the house we are looking after might be haunted?

Pogleswood · 15/05/2009 10:32

Well, that all depends CJ! More clues?
Hi WWM!

Pogleswood · 15/05/2009 10:37

Moomin,are you in south America?
(I'm trying to think of more clues for mine - I think if you'd read it you'd know by now though! Actually this is the perfect month for this one!)

CJCregg · 15/05/2009 10:44

Oh Pogle, I'm going to have to give up on this one. Will definitely read it, though, when all is revealed!

This house is old and run down, and we're not quite sure how we got to be living here, but it was a real life-saver as we're completely broke.

MoominMymbleandMy · 15/05/2009 11:01

Morning all! Hi WWM!

OK, Pogle, I give in. I am never, ever going to get this one. But I would like to read it.

CJ, do you have a DD and twin DS's?

...I don't know where I am! We're at sea on a potty little tub that is going to sink any minute now, I'm sure of it. And I've been sooo seasick...

OP posts:
pollywobbledoodle · 15/05/2009 11:10

pogle, vague stirrings in back of my mind, is your story elementary?

pollywobbledoodle · 15/05/2009 11:11

cj are your children scared of the dark?

CJCregg · 15/05/2009 11:17

There's just me and my brother, the baby and our widowed mother.

pollywobbledoodle · 15/05/2009 11:18

cj is it the rest of them that are the problem?

CJCregg · 15/05/2009 11:20

No one's afraid of the dark!

pollywobbledoodle · 15/05/2009 11:22

ok woof woof at completely wrong tree!

llandb · 15/05/2009 13:04

Sorry, tried to reveal name of lady lady last night but MN was down (or my service provider - I'll blame MN )

No idea how to do clever linkies, but the name of the lady and a piccy of the octopus are revealed here:
