I can't get into the old thread so I think we filled it up! I hope everyone finds the new one.

So nice, shiny new thread, nice shiny new AIBU.

AIBU to be jealous of my DH's correspondence with a stranger?

Pogle, I feel I ought to know yours but I'm not getting anywhere.

Maria, this isn't ringing bells at all now. Doh!

MoominMymbleandMy · 03/06/2009 00:48

Hmm, Bring Out the Banners?

Yes, I think the exile is going to keep me awake...and I have to be up early!

...Poor cat. It does look thin...

Night all!

OP posts:
CJCregg · 03/06/2009 18:09

I know this cat one, I just know I do ...

Presumably the landlady is going to find out at some point and turn nasty?

No, not Bring Out the Banners. The little demonstration at the theatre was only meant to be a bit of a joke, but it started to go wrong ...

Pogleswood · 03/06/2009 19:17

Hello all!
No,I am not feline and forgetful - been there, done that..,And I'm not even slightly pony related.I am,however, unusual and first class..
Hmm,need more clues on both of yours, please!

Pogleswood · 03/06/2009 19:22

And I see that while I was posting you've provided them!(actually think I missed a page...ooops..)
Completely stymied by the sort of suffragette,
Is some of your help likely to be of the dwarvish persuasion,CJ? That's for the throne one..

MoominMymbleandMy · 03/06/2009 19:41

Evening all!

Ah but Pogle, if we rule out books we've already done we lose half the fun! I'm relieved you're not a pony but still completely baffled. Another clue, please.

CJ, the suffragette one sounds sort of familiar but I can't place it, so a bit more help too, please.

Now, is your exile human?

...The DD is very upset. The landlady insists the cat has to go. I'm so sorry because it isn't going to be much of a holiday for the DD and the cat would have been company...

OP posts:
MoominMymbleandMy · 03/06/2009 19:46

And CJ, have you set your alarm for later tonight?

OP posts:
Pogleswood · 03/06/2009 19:48

Actually Moomin,maybe I should try being a pony.(for a later AIBU,not now)
And you're right about losing out if we rule out books we've done!

MoominMymbleandMy · 03/06/2009 21:23

Are you a pig then, Pogle?

...It isn't going to be much of a holiday for the DD because we can't afford to go away and I'll be working for most of it...

OP posts:
CJCregg · 03/06/2009 22:38

Moomin, this is driving me mad - I know this one, I know I do. I can almost smell it ... but I can't get any closer!

Ok - suffragette first. I didn't really want to do it, but my best friend - she's a bit of an unusual character, a bit odd but I think she's great - had the idea and it was all going to be a bit of a joke. But the policemen who came to arrest us weren't actors, after all - they were for real!

Reclaiming my Kingdom - I'm going to need some help from a couple of children, a bad-tempered old witch and a magic rocking chair.

Enough clues?!

And WHO do you think is the proud soon-to-be-owner of a nearly-new, vgc copy of Five Dolls in a House?! Tra la ...

MoominMymbleandMy · 03/06/2009 22:47

CJ, you surely have to be Carbonel!

And well done on Five Dolls - did you have a last minute tussle?

I'm so stumped on the suffragette who isn't. But it is vaguely familiar. If no one gets it I shall have to beg you for the title and hope it isn't out of print.

OP posts:
MoominMymbleandMy · 04/06/2009 00:11

....The landlady's changed her mind! Her kitchen has been invaded by mice...

Night all!

OP posts:
CJCregg · 04/06/2009 00:15

Yes, I'm Carbonel. Could have strung that out for a bit longer, couldn't I? But I'm all give, me.

Didn't have a tussle over Five Dolls, and in fact I lost another bid, but did rather gloriously pip someone who tried to outbid me with 45 seconds to go. Dodgy strategy, though - I put on a huge maximum bid! But as you predicted, it was cheaper than the one I lost out on the other day, so all's well that ends well. And I got a fine pair of Boden trousers for DD, as well. My romance with ebay can continue.

I still can't get yours, though!

CJCregg · 04/06/2009 00:21

Grrr ... I KNOW THIS ONE. I KNOW I DO.

Sorry to shout, but it's so FRUSTRATING. I know it, I know it, I know it ... pleeeeeeeaaaaaase give me a clue that will actually nudge me in the right direction!

Night!

Poledra · 04/06/2009 00:25

Ohhhhh, The Children of the Green Knowe - how long is it since I thought about that book! Thanks for the reminder

MoominMymbleandMy · 04/06/2009 15:57

Afternoon all!

Poledra, I'd start buying them now!

Now, I am still completely and utterly stumped on the suffragette who wasn't. I'm not doing much better on Pogle's beastie either. If you aren't a pig, Pogle, are you a goose?

And CJ, yes, you do know this!

...So we put the cat in the landlady's kitchen and when we went back a few minutes later they had all vanished. It was like magic...

OP posts:
Pogleswood · 04/06/2009 17:03

Afternoon!
CJ may know it,but I am still stuck - and on the suffragette one too, more clues please...

I am furry, and live with my extended family - my gold medal has a picture of me on it!

MoominMymbleandMy · 04/06/2009 17:28

Aaaargh! For one wonderful moment I thought you were Jip, Pogle (as in Dr Doolittle, not as in annoying pet of even more annoying Dickens' heroine). Then I remembered Jip had a gold collar, not a medal.

So...are you a dog then?

...I'm delighted the DD can keep the cat. But she is behaving rather oddly. She keeps carting a tatty garden broom around with her...

OP posts:
Pogleswood · 04/06/2009 17:39

It's another beekeeper, isn't it?!I get to travel a lot and have lots of adventures, but my relatives stay at home - how can they bear it?They do get to lie on their backs and drink more condensed milk though..

MoominMymbleandMy · 04/06/2009 19:54

Oh, light dawns ... but it may well be a false dawn. Pogle, do you come from Switzerland?

OP posts:
CJCregg · 04/06/2009 20:21

No way!! Moomin, you are Rosemary's mother, the one who did all the sewing at Mrs Pendlebury Parker's ... that's the funniest thing I've ever heard. No wonder I was sure I knew it ... you can tell I haven't read it for a while, can't you?!

MoominMymbleandMy · 04/06/2009 20:33

Yes, CJ, I am! I was very surprised when I realised you had to be Carbonel, especially after Pogle and the Ardens!

Great minds...

But I am going nowhere with your one!

AIBU to think my neighbours are very peculiar?

OP posts:
MoominMymbleandMy · 04/06/2009 20:43

Pogle! I have to go and vote. Please tell me if you're Mary Plain or not.

OP posts:
pollywobbledoodle · 04/06/2009 21:18

hello all, nice to be back from lovely sunny wales

pogle are you a ballerina?

as for the others , i shall just go and hmm for a bit....

Pogleswood · 04/06/2009 22:16

Hello Polly,so did you have a good holiday?
I am not a ballerina,I am an unusual, first class bear from the bear pits at Berne, and I have a white rosette and a gold medal with a picture of myself on it!
Well done,Moomin!(sorry not to reply earlier - DS off on school trip tomorrow, was rushing around!)
Why exactly do you think you neighbours are peculiar??

MoominMymbleandMy · 04/06/2009 22:43

Hi Polly, hope the holiday matched up to the weather.

Pogle, phew! That really was reaching decades back because we seem to have missed Mary Plain this time round.
Isn't the quantity of stuff they're required to bring on these trips amazing? You would think they were emigrating.

...They seem to be very reclusive. And whenever they do go out they are muffled up in hats, gloves, scarves and glasses, even in high summer...
