She's just so fracking...ugly.

She can't sing, either.

And she's crap as Mama Ramotswe.

ineedalifelaundry · 23/04/2009 22:12

Wow Hoochie - I just investigated Millie Jackson on youtube ... fabulous but sooo dirty

For example this

I think I need a very cold shower - or something...

Sorry to have kept you hanging on MrsMerryHenry, but my keyboard batteries ran out so couldn't finish the sentence. Mouse was fine though so I pressed 'post message' anyway - to hell with whole sentences. Keep 'em guessing that's what I say! So, where was I? Sassy, real, and - um, can't remember now.

Anyway, we all agree she's lovely even if the genre can be a tad dull. I, along with you and Spokette fail to be moved by new soul and R&B because when compared to Marvin Gaye, Al Green, Otis Redding, Aretha and the Four Tops and (early to mid) Stevie Wonder (WTF happened there, then? One of life's great mysteries) it's all just so...what's the word? Sterile. Yes, that's it. Sterile will do nicely. And R&B for me will always be Bobby Bland, Etta James, Aaron Neville et al, and the black vibe/influence that runs through all early Stones, Van Morrison and The Faces music. Not some silly bootylicious gyrating cardboard cutout of a girl who can't stick to a melody.

Oooh, you guys have inspired me to start listening to my old albums...here's a lovely man and wonderful singer.

who else might i like that i haven't heard of?

Noonki · 06/05/2009 22:26

MrsMerry..I got already for a battle there!

I love Jill Scott seen her a couple of times live and she is so lovely (and beautiful and soulfull....

YANBU in the slightest I can't bear the woman

tiredsville · 06/05/2009 22:32

Floetry are pretty good, but Jil Scott has a fabulous voice and I am often mesmerized with the lyrics in her song.

Technofairy · 06/05/2009 22:33

I'm not familiar with her music - I will go and listen - but she is beautiful. She seems to have this womanly, serene glow about her. It's not fair! I want a womanly, serene glow too...

tiredsville · 06/05/2009 22:41

I love the old Jazz funk, Al Jarreau, Lonnie Lyston Smith..Grovenor....
