as you were ladies.

OP posts:
MoominMymbleandMy · 19/04/2009 12:13

Hardcore or confirmed timewasters? I think the climate will be a big improvement Mrs D. Are you fond of grapes?

MrsDanversAteMyIpod · 19/04/2009 12:16

Yes Moomin, it has to be better than these dust storms!

I do like grapes, but I just have a feeling there are great trials ahead of us.

MoominMymbleandMy · 19/04/2009 12:20

Franctically racking brain for hair sacrificers. The only one I can think of had three sisters, one of whom went off with the gorgeous, wealthy bloke next door, after our heroine was stupid enough to turn him down.

As for my dead DD, how the girl found a tree out there is beyond me.

MrsDanversAteMyIpod · 19/04/2009 12:37

I could only think of er..small females for the hair sacrifice too.

Stumped at yours Moomin.

BestLaidPlans · 19/04/2009 12:38

Oh dear llandb you may want to rethink the watch chain if you are who I think you are...

TheScatterGunApproach · 19/04/2009 12:38

Grapes of Wrath?

TheScatterGunApproach · 19/04/2009 12:39

this thread moves fast!!

salome64 · 19/04/2009 12:42

Morning(ish) ladies! all n ice a nd busy!

did no one want a pop at mine???sob sob? . Another clue, its not even the whose book, more like the first page. Actually more like the first line, which is one of the best first lines ever.....

MrsDanversAteMyIpod · 19/04/2009 12:46

Yes Scatter

TheScatterGunApproach · 19/04/2009 12:47

I'm starting to feel pretty redundant in my job so I'm trying to re-recruit an old workmate. To be honest, I always quite fancied her.

MoominMymbleandMy · 19/04/2009 13:18

More clues please. I am baffled by all of them.
Now, my dead DD, it wasn't a 'bonzer' day when we got the news.

salome64 · 19/04/2009 13:33

Clarification on mine...AIBU to resent being interrupted during a rumpy pumpy session with my same sex toy boy by the archbishop?

BestLaidPlans · 19/04/2009 13:43

Salome64, YANBatallU, if you can still enjoy that at 81, no Earthly Powers should be able to stop you.

TheScatterGunApproach · 19/04/2009 13:44

More clues on the redundnat in my job:

My new boss is an American and we don't really get eachother. He has sent me on holiday and I'm going to catch up with an old colleague.

My last boss had some right-wing sympathies but I try not to notice that sort of thing.
Discretion is part of my job.

TheScatterGunApproach · 19/04/2009 13:45

Salome whatever yours is, I want to read it!

salome64 · 19/04/2009 13:46

Gold Star to Best! Earthly Powers by Anthony Burgess it is!

BestLaidPlans · 19/04/2009 13:50

Gold Star for Googling, unfortunately, but agree with Scatter that it might make it onto the library list!

salome64 · 19/04/2009 13:50

And just because I think its one of the best first lines ever here is the original

?It was the afternoon of my eighty-first birthday, and I was in bed with my catamite when Ali announced that the archbishop had come to see me.?

Swoon with literary jealousy!

salome64 · 19/04/2009 13:51

I think Googling shows initiative! have done a couple myself when totally stumped! a bit like a get out of jail free card.

TheScatterGunApproach · 19/04/2009 13:57

Here's another one:

I am engaged to a lovely man. All was going swimmingly till my tart of a cousin turned up with her mysterious-sounding name and shady past.

Now it seems my fiance has taken an interest in her! Surely nothing can come of it as she is DIVORCED and therefore not fit for polite society.

Should I remain silent and hope that he will come round? Or warn the slag off?

salome64 · 19/04/2009 13:58

AIBU to think the new teacher is a wee bit odd? She swans around telling the girls they are at their peak of intelligence and not to waste it. but then encourages them to hang out with the decidedly pervy art master? Should I tell the head, or trust her professional judgement?

salome64 · 19/04/2009 13:58

I suppose it depends on how innocent she is? surely til proved guilty?

TheScatterGunApproach · 19/04/2009 13:59

NIce one Salome!!

salome64 · 19/04/2009 14:01
MoominMymbleandMy · 19/04/2009 14:04

Ooh Salome, you can't be too careful. These girls are the creme de la creme.
