as you were ladies.

OP posts:
CJCregg · 17/04/2009 19:52

Yes, but not always!

MoominMymbleandMy · 17/04/2009 19:53

The Cure is to waste a bit more time reading.

CJCregg · 17/04/2009 19:54

Moomin, your memory is much clearer than mine. Something about marbles in a glass of water, too, and a monkey puzzle tree ...

Salome, don't give up on me. Or I'll ping that rubber band right back at you.

salome64 · 17/04/2009 19:55

monkey puzzle tree? marbles in water? yes!

CJCregg · 17/04/2009 19:57

I knew you wouldn't let me down.

MariaCC · 17/04/2009 19:57

Oh no! I don't know!

CJCregg · 17/04/2009 20:00

I love the way it's the smaller details (like monkey puzzle tree) rather than the broad plot sweeps that can trigger memories.

salome64 · 17/04/2009 20:01

Ringing bells. Def read it, but can't remember anymore (tree was in front of house, wasn't it?)

salome64 · 17/04/2009 20:05

Just because I am an orphan doesn't mean I can't have a perfectly satisfactory life. There's a couple of weedy blond kids here who look totally dazed and confused, and to be honest, don't know if they'll make it. Me, on the other hand, I'm bound to have loads of great adventures, find their real family, hang out with canal barge folk and generally land on my feet. AIBU in not wanting to be tarred with the same brush as all the other useless orphans?

MoominMymbleandMy · 17/04/2009 20:07

I'm sure you have far to go Salome64

salome64 · 17/04/2009 20:07

And on a bit of a riff.

AIBU in resenting being dragged around the world in my talented brother's wake?

salome64 · 17/04/2009 20:08

Thank you Moomin! was that a bit too easy? or are you just very very clever?

salome64 · 17/04/2009 20:09

but CJ, still in dark as to monkey puzzle and marble title!

MoominMymbleandMy · 17/04/2009 20:12

I am the headmistress of an exclusive girls' boarding school. I am very concerned about the next-door neighbour's child. He is cruel to animals and is said to be building a guillotine.
AIBU to wonder if he may be a serial killer in the making?

....still baffled by the flying tortoise...?

CJCregg · 17/04/2009 20:14

I sometimes have a sister called Emily ...

Salome, need clues for your talented brother!

salome64 · 17/04/2009 20:15

I thought I had read all boarding school books. CLEARLY NOT! my life is a sham.

MoominMymbleandMy · 17/04/2009 20:15

Salome64, not a bit clever, just read far too much and the state of my house proves it.

And I think you should all go home to Apple Bough.

cory · 17/04/2009 20:17

Oooh, I am so excited!! Since the death of poor dear Papa, life has been very difficult, what with no money for spending and the creditors being most unpleasant

But this is all going to change!!! we are leaving for London where our dear uncle is going to look after us and find my poor brother a suitable means of making his way in the world. I am so happy to think that we will find a father figure in our last remaining relative and I can't wait to start soothing his declining years with those little touches that only a feminine hand can add.

Would I BVU to hope that our dear uncle might introduce me to some nice young men?

And that our dear Mama might find some suitor of riper years? Perhaps somebody with an interest in vegetable growing? (healthy eating is so important to the elderly)

salome64 · 17/04/2009 20:17

You live in my house, don't? when I go out? if you pitched up at dunroamin with your sibs what would be top of your shopping list?

CJCregg · 17/04/2009 20:18

Grrr, Moomin beat me to it. I suppose it would be pointless to ask if IABU to resent my untalented, stroppy younger sister somehow landing a part in a Hollywood film?!

salome64 · 17/04/2009 20:19

CJ, he's very nifty with his fingers. And very musical. Possibly both at the same time. I refer you to Moomin.

TotalChaos · 17/04/2009 20:21

AIBU? I'm a teenage girl, and I failed my school leaving exams. I'm with my dad and his partner for the summer holidays on the coast - whilst they enjoy themself, his partner is making me stay in and study for the retakes. I want to try and get my dad to dump his partner for another woman, as I'm fed up with boring studying. AIBU?

salome64 · 17/04/2009 20:21

Ah, the fossil follow up. It was a bit rubbish, wasn't it?

And moomin, or anyone else for that matter, Dunroamin question? If I throw in an earthquake in Turkey does it make it clearer?

CJCregg · 17/04/2009 20:21

Cory, is your brother called Nicholas?
