to be a bit irked about disabled badge holders using mum and baby spaces

I am not sure why I am irked because clearly having a disabled badge means you have a need to park near a supermarket. But when all the mum and child spaces are gone, and I am struggligng with baby and toddler, and see a man with a blue badge RUN from his car in the pouring rain to Sainsburys whilst I can't get a space I have to admit to feeling P*ssed off. Oh and I also dont understand why totally able bodied senior citizens feel they have the right to park in them either.
Rant over.

oh dear
did your baby melt in the rain
I assume you have xray eyes and could tell what his disability was just by looking at him

ComeOVeneer · 29/10/2008 18:06

Oh surely you know by now this topic will cause a riot on MN!?!?!?

mousemole · 29/10/2008 18:08

YABU

i cannot believe you would feel irked about this - the cheek of the man

BoysAreLikeZombies · 29/10/2008 18:08

Oi

Did you know that some disablilties are Not Visible?

[rolls eyes]

Oh, and P T parking is a privelige, not a right.

WifeandMotherof4 · 29/10/2008 18:09

Tut tut, a lady with a baby or a disabled person........who has the greater need?? Do we really need to ask?

The elderly have greater need too. People with children older than pushchair age wind me up though.

Although when you know it's not the disabled person using the badge it is annoying.

none of your farking business what his disability is and whether he can run or not

this winds me up - my poor FIL has a blue badge and probably looks ok - i bet people judge him

mousemole ask Jimjams/ PC/ fio and all the other sn posters they will enlighten you

WifeandMotherof4 · 29/10/2008 18:11

disclaimer.....I'm talking about the wheelchair user badge on the back of the car and the able bodied person running accross the car park or the people you actually know...................
Although to be fair why do I care? I am not disabled.

mousemole · 29/10/2008 18:11

i agree with lots of your points, hence the AIBU post. Maybe the supermarkets should just do away with the Mother and child spaces altogether as they definitely generate a lot of irritation !

lou33 · 29/10/2008 18:12

oh here we go again

trixiethepixie · 29/10/2008 18:12

yabu.

he probably had to park there because lots of able-bodied poeple have parked in the disabled spaces (my dp does it all the time which I hate)

mousemole · 29/10/2008 18:13

they need to change the 'Disabled' badge from a person in a wheelchair to something else then. I have a chronic autoimmune condition with ME type symptomswhich leaves me exhausted everyday. I would like some kind of badge.
