To think that Labour’s/Andy Burnham’s tariffs on Jewish Settlers and their statement on Palestine is a well timed publicity stunt to divert attention from their complete lack of inaction regarding illegal migrants arriving by boat.

I don’t meant to be cynical but I think Labour have done this to carry favour with those who want to ditch Labour for the Green Party. We all know Labour isn’t run by its leader, instead by their back benchers!

What the Settlers are doing on the West Bank is horrific, however Labour were not being so vocal a few weeks ago when the rest of the world was. It feels a ‘well-timed’ publicity stunt to take away attention from their complete inaction about the amount of illegal immigrants arriving in this country. I was appalled by the protests over the weekend. And as a woman with a daughter, these thugs do not protest in my name. However, the government MUST address the fact that we have thousands of undocumented male immigrants coming into the UK free to go wherever they want. Andy Burnham is happy to house them in their thousands wherever he sees fit and I have not heard him OR his government talk about women’s safety once. Burnham can make as many cosy ‘I’m just a man who goes to Greggs and likes a pint.’ Videos as he wants but until he acknowledges how undocumented men pose a great risk to women’s safety, I won’t be supporting him or his party.

Please do not come up with facts and stats about white British males, I am acutely aware of the violence they also inflict against women and equally appalled by the Government’s inaction over this. But I find it horrific that if you have no documents and the government have no idea who you are you’re free to roam. This should not be allowed.

I feel so ignored as a woman in the UK our safety and wellbeing is way down the governments’ long list of priorities. I’m sick of the back benchers and those swaying to the far left or far right being given so much air time, whilst those of us in the middle are ignored day in and day out I voted for Labour in the last election but never again!

We are meant to belive there is a significant reduction, to keep us quiet. I will continue to be concerned at every single boat crossing.

It is intellectually possible to see the facts of the figures - significant reduction undoubtedly. And to be concerned, for many reasons.

No I think just think antisemitism is deep rooted in the Labour Party so bubbles to the top of policy easily. The whole policy is pointless, can't even be monitored effectively anyway so can't be implemented in the real world, and has undermined our relationship with key allies.

One of Burnham's first actions was to readmit Diane Abbott so the direction of travel within the party is pretty clear.

Which key allies would those be?

(FWIW - I do agree antisemitism is a problem in the Labour party, but not that the recent sanctions are a manifestation of it).

@Chocolatefreakwhilst I totally agree with you about home grown violence against women and girls in this country. There also is a problem of abuse from migrants, this isn’t sensationalism it is facts. They make up a smaller proportion of the population but are also responsible for around 16% of the crimes. I am a child of immigrants and I believe that there is a lot of education that needs to be done in this country towards ALL males about misogynistic, violent and outdated cultural views towards women.

However, I am concerned that undocumented males arriving in the UK are not being monitored - there is a problem and I do believe the government need to do more to reassure women in the UK.

It's difficult for the government to reassure women in the UK when there is constant misrepresentation of facts.

It is perfectly true that a small proportion of migrants arriving in this country will be violent against women. Just as some white British men are. And no, the police will not be monitoring them, just as the police do not routinely monitor any man until they are reported for a crime. My point is again, violence against women from this section of society pales into insignificance when compared with the violence from white British men, and from all the other institutional violence women are subjected to.

What's your source for the claim that 16% of crimes are committed by migrants?

And, assuming that your claim is correct, can you clarify why you think that figure is out of line with what we might reasonably expect, given that data from the last census suggests that around 16.2% of the UK population was born overseas?

I don't believe boat crossings are down. There is no reason for them to be. It would be ridiculous to believe they would be.

They're not down compared to when Labour first came to power. The numbers make for grim reading, especially when combined with the recent UNHCR audit findings revealing the rapid decline in standards of dealing with asylum applications under the current Labour government. Andy Burnham has a lot of work to do to reverse the damage caused by Keir Starmer in the face of growing public anger.

It is not anti semitic to criticise the actions of the Israeli government. The Board of Deputies are not saying the policy is anti semitic - what they are fearful about, is that deteriorating relations with Israel, and a rise in anti Israel feeling, may embolden anti semites in this country. That’s a legitimate fear. But using that real fear to point score against the Labour government is dangerous and divisive.

People blindly ignoring the very changes taking place around them. My local area has changed beyond recognition and we are fully aware that the people here now running businesses (Afghan and Albanian here locally) have such a grip on the local community (trafficking, drugs, brothels, money laundering all openly operating in plain view) and the NCA unable to tackle it. It may or may not have happened in your area yet, but don’t worry it will. The rise in crime alongside that on my formerly lovely area (stabbings, assaults, robberies, sexual violence, shoplifting) is happening everywhere. Most of these are not reported. Or in my case, they are reported and the police do follow up (three times…) yes. I do link it with the arrival of undocumented young men, it’s a global business and we are politely fiddling whilst Rome burns!

Interesting that not a single poster has replied to your post.
I’m surprised someone hasn’t come along and called you a liar.
That appears to be the standard reply to shut people up about the realities of what certain areas are already facing.

bluespotsandztarz · 09/09/2026 09:59

@MrsBennetsPoorNervesAreBackMy point isn’t that immigrants as a whole are criminals. It’s that foreign nationals are disproportionately represented in convictions for some sexual offences against women. Ministry of Justice data found foreign nationals accounted for around 15% of sexual offence convictions in 2024, and 28.5% of convictions for sexual assault against a female where nationality was known. So saying 16% of the population are migrants doesn’t really disprove my point. That figure is based on people born outside the UK, whereas the crime figures are based on foreign nationals, so they’re not the same thing.

@IsEveryUserNameBloodyTakenI do really hate the fact that as women, we are being told by other women what our own realities are! Just because some people live in a bubble where issues don’t directly affect them doesn’t mean this isn’t happening. It also doesn’t mean everyone from a certain religion or culture acts the same!

Well we were being told we should attend protests with men the other day. If we don't, it's because we fear we are going to be attacked. Then we can't question illegal immigration without being called racist. It's as though as women, we are meant to get in line with other schools of thought.

Can we start putting on chartered jets for the Calais lot, so I can go a day without hearing about the fucking boats?

So fucking tedious.

I know .. every local story on Facebook;

”new house” first comment “for boat people”
“New Doctors surgery” first comment “for boat people”
“New school” first comment “for boat people”
”Crime” first comment “for boat people”

It’s tedious nonesense.

..and “boat people” is a horrible term to use for Human Beings - dehumanises them.

RealBecca · 09/09/2026 10:08

Can I just say that I am so sick of the term "Violence Against Women and Girls". VAWG

It should be: "Violence By Men"

The former sounds like Violence is just something that happens to happen to females. But actually it MEN committing moat of that Violence.

Because when we talk about VAWG, we don't usually mean Violence by women against women.

It's Male Violence as a whole that is the problem. If we simply stopped Violence against women and gorls there would still be vast amounts of violent crime because men are still fucking committing it.

Not all men. Of course. But everyone is affected by male fucking Violence.

Please clarify what exactly is antisemitic about the government's actions?

Do you think it is possible to criticise the Israeli government without being antisemitic?

Do you think it is antisemitic to be concerned about the actions of the Israeli settlers?

Is there a way in which the UK government could have taken action on these issues without you concluding that they were antisemitic? What do you think they should have done differently?

I thought Ed Miliband chose his words very carefully yesterday and that he tried to make the distinctions very clear. I am very interested in understanding what exactly you perceived to be antisemitic.

Yep.

some Muslims commit crime- all Muslims are bad

some Jews commit crime- condemn them and you’re antisemitic.

Jewish people can do bad things, just as Muslims and Christians can.

in fact I believe the most dangerous religion at the moment is the rise of the fundamental Christians, and their use of religion to condemn anyone who doesn’t fall in line. The politics of the USA is increasingly influential in this country, and that poses more danger than people think.

but you think there's a bit too much focus on the violence levied against Palestinians?

Which area is this?

most areas with high knife crime are inner cities. I’ve had a quick google and those places where it’s on the increase are those with high deprivation and poverty.

Nothing that fits with a “formerly lovely” area now being a high crime area.

I can’t speak to why other posters didn’t engage with this post - the reason I didn’t reply was because it’s hard to engage in a good faith, facts based discussion starting from this kind of post. I absolutely don’t deny the poster’s concerns and anxieties about their own area, but the idea that undocumented young men are causing a universal, unmanageable surge in violent crime everywhere across the country just isn’t backed to by national crime data.

It’s also irrelevant really, to this discussion, because - even if we do accept those claims to be true - then they would be issues that the Home Office should be dealing with. A functioning, competent government should be able to deal with many issues at once, and domestic issues needing to be dealt with should not stop the Foreign Secretary from doing his job, which is to protect and speak up for British interests and British values through our foreign policy.

Is there a “most dangerous religion”?

would MI5 work from the principle that x religion is dangerous? Do you really think they categorise risk based on faith?

no particular religion is dangerous. Extremism and crimes committed in the name of any religion is dangerous.

No they work on culture, which can be interweaved with religion. Are you denying the evidence that Islamic extremism remains the biggest threat?
