Does removing the coil hurt?

I had it put in under general anaesthetic and hear conflicting theories on removal . I want mine taken out but im scared!

I had it removed at the sexual health clinic. I found the insertion quite difficult and painful but removal much easier, she told me to cough and it was over in a couple of seconds, felt like taking out a dryish tampon so a pulling uncomfortable sensation but not really pain

I had to have a GA for a hysteroscopy as two nurses couldn’t get through my cervix.
I politely declined the opportunity to have a coil inserted, mainly for fear of how hard it’d be to get it out again if it didn’t agree with me.

sbery time I’ve had one removed it’s been straightforward and not much different from removing a tampon.

UK. Inserting a coil is standard practice (obviously, with patients consent) after some procedures while you are still under GA. Some women also find removal painful to the point where it is impossible to perform it. These women can be and are offered sedation options.
You can even request (insist, if you will) GA for dental treatments. Also, in the UK.
