AIBU to think hotel breakfast in pyjamas is not acceptable?

AIBU yo think that adults should not arrive at the hotel breakfast in their pyjamas?

we’re staying in a city centre hotel. Nice place- nothing fancy, with breakfast included.

thus morning, 2 young women (prob early 20’s) came down to breakfast wearing short pyjamas, barefoot- clearly just out of bed. They were loud, and not overly polite to the staff either- “where are the plates” etc. just brash and abrupt.

Im generally not a fussy person but this sort of thing feels like a lowering of standards to me. I don’t think we saw stuff like this 10-15 years ago.

This must be the case! To get so worked up about it, we've had posters calling people dirty rats fgs. Definitely not much going on for these people.

That’s a tad strong! Most people on the thread have similar views on this. I guess it stands out because most people wear day clothes in a public space. If we’ve all made the effort to do the same, it does stand out as “can’t be arsed”.

I’m a fairly relaxed person but I think this completely unacceptable. Why would anyone think it’s ok to do this?

I can't bring myself to care what other people wear. Especially on holiday.

Yep. Terrible behaviour. I experienced similar once. It was a nice hotel. A married couple. He was dressed. She looked in her PJs. She then had her mum loud on speaker phone all breakfast and we could all hear her conversation 🙄. The staff should have asked her to take her loud phone call elsewhere.

Sorry, this cracked me up. As a natural, born Scouser. Obviously, the pyjamas will he 10 billion times fancier than the pyjamas worn by the rest of the population. Even with the rollers in the hair, the Liverpudlian women will look absolutely stunning.

You keep asking people what they do, wear etc. It’s weird.

I love scouse women and their rollers! We had a group on my train all with immaculate makeup, nails and rolllers… all wearing matching satin pyjamas! They were having a ball.

Because there must be so much more going on for lazy fuckers who couldn’t be arsed to even get dressed 👍🏻

If anything there would be a lot less going on, if they are so slow they have to sleep in and not have time to shower or get ready even when not in your own house. A lazy, slow life.

I think it is fine to slow things down and be lazy when you are on holiday.

Not something I would do, but the outfits wouldn't bother me. It's being loud and rude to staff that would piss me off.

It absolutely is, I agree. But I mean seriously just get dressed before going for breakfast
with other people. It’s not that difficult, is it. It’s kind of worrying if it is, if you are that exhausted perhaps you should just stay at home.

It’s a public place. It’s manners to be dressed in a public place. Your room is private - wear what you want there - but if you want to use the public areas, get dressed. Those who are saying ‘but people wear pyjamas in the supermarket’: also a public place. Wear clothes. Or even pretend to wear clothes. Fling on leggings and a hoodie. Pretend decency is respectable.

Aye, there's a kind of a morbid turn on seeing these chavvy middens in all their classless, trashy glory... You see the exact same in Glasgow except you hear an even worse accent. 😆

I was, I hadn't had anything to eat since breakfast the day before. I was in London for a gig while there was massive travel disruption.

I think you will find making coffee in your own kitchen, and going to have breakfast In A hotel restaurant is not the same and certainly not something Dolly Parton would have done in her pyjamas.

so what if other people can’t be arsed to get dressed though? It has no effect on you. Let them be lazy slobs if that’s what makes them happy.
