To cringe when people call their husband/partner ‘my king’?

There seems to have been a trend going for quite a while now where people post on social media calling their husband/partner ‘my king’ likewise men calling their partners ‘my queen’.

I think it’s so cringe. Especially when it’s someone they’ve only been with 5 minutes.

Edited to add it’s usually done as a performative caption under a photo or video.

The dh of a close friend of my DM called his wife ‘my queen’.
All long gone now (DM born 1918) so hardly a new thing.

My younger sister called her dh ‘Warthog’. 😂

Never heard or seen a woman call her husband/partner ‘my king’ but have seen and heard the ‘my Queen’ thing usually by men who are philandering bastards!

My initial thought on reading this is why would someone's name for their partner bother you. After voting, it seems i am in the minority!

I've seen this online a bit. For some reason seems to be prevalent amongst couples who subscribe to quite traditional views of gender roles and "keeping your man/woman happy".

I have never ever heard of anyone saying this.

years ago mothers calling themselves Mommabear used to really drive me up the wall.

It’s not people I follow but when I’m scrolling I tend to get loads of things pop up and this seems to be one of them atm.

I think I just need to stop scrolling because there are so many trends that are getting on my nerves at the minute.

The one where people keep saying ‘kinda chic’, followed by some boring mundane thing.

I privately call DH my queen cause I’m the god damn king.

I’ve only seen it when they’ve talked about a short king!

I say it sometimes to my DH as a joke but he calls me Chairman Meow (my name is cat so it makes sense) when I’m being bossy. If he’s being a bit of a dick I’ll say something like “yes my liege of course” and tbh I think it’s a good way to indicate he’s pissing me off without saying “oi wind your fucking neck in bruv” in front of the kids.

I have never seen this in real life. I thought this was just a thing incel Tate-fan creeps suggested women should call their partners?

But, yanbu, it's beyond weird and creepy! Not remotely a normal way for equal partners to speak.
