To cringe when people call their husband/partner ‘my king’?

There seems to have been a trend going for quite a while now where people post on social media calling their husband/partner ‘my king’ likewise men calling their partners ‘my queen’.

I think it’s so cringe. Especially when it’s someone they’ve only been with 5 minutes.

Edited to add it’s usually done as a performative caption under a photo or video.

I've only ever seen this in one ethnic group, that isn't mine. It's not something I'd do but if it's usual in their circles it probably doesn't seem as odd to them.

I thought it waa just my dd that did this, but she is in her teens! Can't imagine adults being so silly.

Totally agree. The AI makes it almost unbearable.

I hate all the 'my queen' stuff. People say it on here about certain women they admire.

It's makes me cringe. Can't say I've ever seen 'my king' though.

Only two reasons this would be reasonable:

1. You are actually addressing your cat. In which case My King, My Queen, My Most Supreme and Most Excellent Majesty are all acceptable forms of address.
2. You are taking the piss.

A woman at work used to call her husband ‘my king’ I can’t remember his name but it was something like Steve, he wasn’t what I imagined before meeting him.

If I see anyone online say ‘my king’ I think of them!

I'm Irish and we don't have royals so I'm going to have to refer to my husband as my President or maybe my Taoiseach.

A sort of lame flex.

I’ve never heard it but in the 60s in Liverpool I often heard men address any woman as Queen. A bit like saying love or duck or hen or any other affectionate name. But it was never My Queen

I thought that Queen is a Liverpool expression. I’ve not heard of King though, it’s silly.

I have never referred to my husband as my king. I think that is cringey. I have once in a while addressed him as My Lord but that's just a nod to my love of history.

I just asked my H if he had heard of this. He said he’d be sleeping with one eye open if I tried this. He’d be wondering if his food was poisoned or if he was going to lose his head.

It’s funny after the fact but when I’m in the middle of being bossy I think I’m being totally reasonable and then later I’ll just realise I was being a total dictator - normally over something genuinely inconsequential as well
