To cringe when people call their husband/partner ‘my king’?

There seems to have been a trend going for quite a while now where people post on social media calling their husband/partner ‘my king’ likewise men calling their partners ‘my queen’.

I think it’s so cringe. Especially when it’s someone they’ve only been with 5 minutes.

Edited to add it’s usually done as a performative caption under a photo or video.

I'm pretty sure that Ricky Tomlinson in Brookside used to call Sheila his wife, Queen.

I'm going back quite a lot of years to remember Brookside.

I've heard "alright queen?" on tv dramas. Never heard "my queen" or "my king" ever thankfully. DP would ring for the men in white coats if I tried.

I tell you, it's really useful when you've forgotten their actual name though.

Yes I was going to say, King, Prince, Queen, its more prevalent in black culture from my own experience. Im talking about the UK anyway as I dont know any 'influencers'!

I’ve heard if men calling women their queen but not the other way around. Not on SM much though and neither are my friends. And anyway they’ve all been with their partners for so long it’s more likely rather less enthusiastic titles…

It’s awful. In fact “my man” is irritating too. There’s just something a bit smug about it, and the implication of ownership that grates on me.

The family matriarch would commonly be known as 'The Duchess' as a more respectful term than 'The Old Woman' We just called her Nana😂

Yes - my ex husband’s new partner calls him My King when she posts about their spa weekends and it genuinely makes me laugh. I’m like, just you wait 😉
