My ex brother in law has booked a holiday next week for a week. He is a single Dad to my nephew. He had child care sorter, I thought anyway. This childcare turns out to be a bit flakey so he has asked me if I can do a few days to help. It would mean staying at his house cos of their pets. I work full time and have a 6 day week next week. He didn't give ne any warning just turned up this evening to ask

OP posts:

Guilt, he could lose money. He's not here now. He came yesterday to ask me to do 2 days which I agreed thrn turned up again today without warning asking me to do another 3 days

5 days at short notice and uou are working full time, how is that possible?

And here is the village in action I see. Not OP as such, but the other posters.

There isn't a village anymore. Reading the comments you can see the village has long gone

Well until he asks he doesn’t know if it’s possible and the op has said she could potentially make it work but it’s not easy.

This poor lad! Only 12 and back to school when his Dad is off on his jollies and mother doesn't have anything to do with him. Are there no other relatives eg grandparents? Feel for the young man, he must feel like an absolute nuisance:-(

He’s going on holiday without his child?

Parents are allowed to sometimes go on holiday without their child

Indeed, though choosing a person who you already know to be flaky to be responsible for both child and pet care whilst you take your holiday was probably a poor decision.

His brother is known yo be a bit flakey when it comes to plans so no idea why he thought asking him was a good idea

Because he doesn’t care enough to worry enough about it being a bad idea to prioritise that above him getting a holiday.

It’s not a coincidence.
It’s not just poor decision making.
It’s a direct result of not prioritising his child.

It’s him prioritising his holidays above his child. I know many women who in the same situation would not take the risk with flakey childcare and so simply wouldn’t book the holiday in the first place.

Don’t let selfish uncaring men usurp your time because they care more about their free time than yours.

Edited

Lots of women go on holiday without their children, you see it all the time on here (and there is nothing wrong with it).

We have no idea why he has chosen now but there could be a very good reason. I also don’t think we know if they are in England and it is actually the first week back.

Of course. But this is a child with no actively involved mother, for whom proper care hasn’t been arranged. Seems a bit off to be dumping it with a patchwork of care and going on holiday. Sorry to be judgemental.
