Husband has ruined dinner

I’m been upstairs packing for a holiday so asked husband to cook dinner, all of the ingredients for a shepards pie are in the fridge/cupboard.
Came down and thought.. That smells nothing like shepards pie. He has poured an entire jar of Passata and half a jar of parsley into the meat.
Im going to beans on toast. My AIBU is this..
YABU.. Sounds fine to me.
YANBU.. He has made bolognese with mash potatoes and gravy.

That sounds horrible.
I wouldn't fancy eating it either.

You could do some pasta and turn it into bolognese.

id whack some cheese in the mash and throw it all in the oven

I always put tinned tomatoes in shepherd's pie. It sweetens it all up. It'll be fine

I mean, it’s probably not going to be inedible is it. I’d eat it, tell him he’s a bit weird, and look forward to some nice meals out on holiday.

Doesn't sound great with all the parsley but arent you curious? Id have to give it a taste just to see.

Dried parsley comes in a little jar. Its in the herbs and spices section of supermarkets

Aside from the large amount of parsley, it doesn’t sound ruined particularly. It’s not shepherds pie, but I’ll happily eat leftover bolognese sauce on a jacket potato, so putting cheesy mash on it isn’t that different.

I don't really see the problem, passata and parsley can hardly have ruined shepherd's pie.
I think opting for beans on toast is childish in the extreme and just to make a point because he didn't follow your usual recipe.

He’s eating it and so is DS, DS said it tastes nothing like shepards pie but is nice. I’m not touching it, grim.

Never seen parsley in a jar, am sure you can get it but it feels wrong.

It will probably would be quite nice with pasta to be fair.

Either way, don't try to fix it for him. Let him eat as it is. He will do better next time.

Edit: just seen that he is eating it. You could suggest it's done the way you like it next time? Or accept you both cook differently.

I’m not making a point, beans on toast is nicer, why would I eat a dinner that in my opinion tastes disgusting.
