Popping to the shop - which makes more sense?

Am I going insane??

Two adults.

One is cycling in to the local high street for a coffee with child. Coffee spot literally across the street from M&S.

One is driving in to the same town centre to drop off a child at the library, will not be getting out of the car, but because of the layout of the road will have to drive past the back of the same M&S.

one adult suggests to the other that they pop in and pick up some rolls and cold cuts for lunch, as they will be feet away from the shop, bikes already chained up.

the cycling adult says they think the other adult should do it, they are driving right past it. Driving adult explains they have no intention of getting out of the car, so it would add on a car parking space faff/fee.

they’ve reached an impasse, as both adults think it makes more sense for the other to go.

thoughts please?

As you would have to pay for parking it could not be more obvious that the person on foot outside the shop should get the very small amount of shopping. Is your husband always this un-bothered about unnecessary spending?

car person should not park up and faff.

Out of principle car person should drive tk Aldi, park directly there and get lesser cold cuts tk track cycling a lesson, whilst also saving multiple pounds in the process.

I also say cold cuts now and then.

In this scenario either could do it, id be happy to do it in either scenario, its not that hard to walk across the road or to park the car so its as broad as it is long really. I guess if I was always the one 'popping' id expect the other to pull their weight. In a lightheaded 'argument' like this we would probably 'rock, paper, scissors' it 🤣

Car person briefly considered doing all the faff, but decided it defo wasn’t worth it when the car park situation was as bad as anticipated.

They went home and had marmite on toast.

Cyclist ended up getting a petrol station pasty on the way to somewhere else later in the afternoon, and said it was gross, the worst pasty they’ve ever had.

Driver felt smug. 😊😂😂

But why park the car and pay when going in on foot is free?! Not equal.

But on the flipside if you are buying cold food on a hot day its gonna be home and in the fridge faster than on the bike, plus its harder to carry shopping on a bike. Its not just the cost, its as broad as it is long all things considered. Imo, you of course are welcome to yours

In our town it's way faster to cycle with shopping in the panniers!

super speedy cycle home, never had a timed race but I don’t think there would be much, or anything, in it, especially with Saturday traffic
