Would I be unreasonable to eat the pringles?

We were in a supermarket car park today and as we got back to the car a Pringle packer rolled down the pavement.
We picked it up to save it rolling across the car park creating litter. We realised it was a brand new, in date, completely sealed pack. We looked around but no one was looking for them. Would you have eaten them??

Which flavour?

SusanJJ · 10/08/2026 14:36

Were they sour cream and chive or the plain ones?

DriveMeCrazy1974 · 10/08/2026 14:37

I wouldn't eat them because I think Pringles are horrible nowadays! Now, if it had been an opened box of Ferrero Rocher, it'd be another matter altogether!

TallSturdyGirls · 10/08/2026 14:38

I once saw a car drive off leaving a whole shopping bag on the ground. I shouted and
Tried to go after them, but they drove off.
i had a lovely roast dinner that night and thanked them for it. Was properly skint st the time so was a great blessing.

SandwichSuperstar · 10/08/2026 14:39

I'd see if I could find out who dropped them first.

You didn't hand it into the shop, knowing that's the first place they'd look?

Sour cream and chive. I like that flavour makes the difference here!

😂 important questions if it was BBQ i would let it roll on.

venmor · 10/08/2026 14:45

Absolutely not but I have OCD so perhaps the idea that they may have been tampered with is not real.

We did look round the car park but no one was obviously looking. Not sure how else I would find them?

To be honest, I would have but I had just done a big food ahop with 3 kids under the age of 5 It was in a massive Asda car park, and there was no way I was going to get all my kids out the car, walk back to the shop find someone to hand it to on the off chance that they would come back when they hadnt even bothered to stop when I waved them down!

Any rational human would eat the sour cream and chive ones, also most dogs.

A modern-day manna from heaven moment. I wouldn't have questioned it. Pay it forward somehow at some point.

Still not on really that you took someone else's lost food and ate it just because you were skint.

They could've been far more skint.

Or if you'd left it alone, they could've come back a few minutes later.

TalonOfDuty · 10/08/2026 14:51

I wouldn't eat food that I had found on the floor! If I wanted some Pringles that badly I would buy some. They're not exactly expensive!

Well they were brand new and sealed so the fact they'd rolled on the floor is irrelevant. If you had bought some and dropped them walking up your garden path would you throw them away and buy new ones?

Sour cream and chive? Did you even have to ask? If you don't want them I'll eat them.

DonnyDoris · 10/08/2026 15:09

I got out the car in the supermarket car park yesterday and there was a whole, undented tin of Heinz beans just sitting in the space next to me - I took them home

I would know that I had dropped them though. I have no idea what has been done to the pringles in the car park. I guess it comes down to not being that desperate to eat pringles that I had found on the floor just because I could have them for free. I don't care that you would eat them, I'm just saying I wouldn't!

5128gap · 10/08/2026 15:19

I'd have waited in the car park for several hours asking every shopper to check if they 'had anything missing'. If no joy I'd have gone into the store and asked to see their CCTV. If still no luck, I'd have handed them in to the police. After a fortnight I'd follow up to see if they'd been claimed and if not I'd collect them and donate to the local foodbank.
Anything less is theft. Pure and simple.

LoyalGoldMentor · 10/08/2026 15:21

I'd have left the Pringles. If it was a tub of Twiglets, now ... they'd have been eaten!
