Would I be unreasonable to eat the pringles?

We were in a supermarket car park today and as we got back to the car a Pringle packer rolled down the pavement.
We picked it up to save it rolling across the car park creating litter. We realised it was a brand new, in date, completely sealed pack. We looked around but no one was looking for them. Would you have eaten them??

pringles could roll on by cos I hate them - but my 'snack of choice' can get in ma belly

SailingYachty · 10/08/2026 15:30

Gross no, Pringles are so processed they’re barely food!!

I'd have waited in the car park for several hours asking every shopper to check if they 'had anything missing'. If no joy I'd have gone into the store and asked to see their CCTV. If still no luck, I'd have handed them in to the police. After a fortnight I'd follow up to see if they'd been claimed and if not I'd collect them and donate to the local foodbank.
Anything less is theft. Pure and simple.

Brilliant, only this response would satisfy some pearl clutchers 🤣

You forgot to call 101 , and maybe pop it on the local facebook page!

PurpleCoo · 10/08/2026 15:52

I wouldn't eat them because they are horrible UPF!

MyDarlingRose · 10/08/2026 15:54

Timeforachange26 · 10/08/2026 14:54

Well they were brand new and sealed so the fact they'd rolled on the floor is irrelevant. If you had bought some and dropped them walking up your garden path would you throw them away and buy new ones?

It could be a false Pringles covered in Novichok…

Still not on really that you took someone else's lost food and ate it just because you were skint.

They could've been far more skint.

Or if you'd left it alone, they could've come back a few minutes later.

There's always one fun sponge

I couldn't have called 101. You're forgetting I'd picked them up off the ground. I'm assuming in the heat of the moment I'd done this without protective gloves, so obviously wouldn't be able to touch my phone afterwards. The local FB page is a possibility. But how would I be sure the rightful owner claimed them? I wouldn't want to be complicit in a deception.

OP has confirmed it was sour cream and chives , those bad boys wouldn’t have made it home , once you pop and all that !!

Well finders keepers 😀

AllaMova · 10/08/2026 16:14

Of course, you should put up posters stating that you have found the tube of Pringles first, then you could circulate it over social media. If no-one comes forward, then you can eat the Pringles. 🙂

Enjoy them, OP!

Theresalittlebitofwitchinyou · 10/08/2026 16:18

Sour cream and chive you say <mumbles with mouth full of found Pringles>

Boiledbeetle · 10/08/2026 14:57

Sour cream and chive? Did you even have to ask? If you don't want them I'll eat them.

This

DriveMeCrazy1974 · 10/08/2026 14:37

I wouldn't eat them because I think Pringles are horrible nowadays! Now, if it had been an opened box of Ferrero Rocher, it'd be another matter altogether!

Yeah, they've messed with the flavour of the sour cream ones and I don't like the new flavour so I'd have left them in the car park for someone else to snag.

Craftyrose · 10/08/2026 16:27

In a shocking revelation, we realised that they are actually sour cream and ONION not chives as I thought! Has this always been the case or have they changed flavour??

You didn't hand it into the shop, knowing that's the first place they'd look?

As if someone’s going to go back to a shop and ask if a packet of Pringles has been handed in 😂

Honestly this place is proper bonkers sometimes

What's bonkers is that you didn't read the post I was replying to, which had nothing to do with Pringles...

The internet says only the UK had chives. It appears we've been brought into line with everywhere else.

LauderSyme · 10/08/2026 16:36

There have long been two separate flavours of sour cream and chive / sour cream and onion, but you don't often find the latter for sale, cos they are definitely not as good as the former.

Whichever flavour, I would have snaffled them and eaten them all up. Yeah I'm cheap.

Even the salted ones are horrible now! Pringles used to be one of our favourite snacks, but they really are gross now! I don't know why companies think they need to 'improve' on stuff that's already popular! Makes no sense to me.

Gowlett · 10/08/2026 16:39

I’d eat them. The gods were smiling on you!

Kimmers4334 · 10/08/2026 17:10

I once ate some (sealed packaging, still cold) steak I found on the floor of a bus. It was under the chair in front, only one person around so asked if it was hers or did she want it. She missed out on a blinder of a dinner, I ate both steaks that night to be sure they were safe. So no, I’d have no problem with sealed floor Pringles!
