To think that Cambridge University’s reputation has been shot to pieces by the revelations about ex-professor Jason Arday?

No, sorry evidence is needed. In this case if all his silly tall stories were true and he'd been denied a job that would be racist. That didn't happen though.

I wasn’t referring to you specifically. But we all need to think about the impact of our words before claiming that they’re not racist. For example, years ago I said something to a black acquaintance in all innocence that absolutely horrifies me now. If anyone had asked me back then if I was racist I would have said emphatically not. I know more about racism now and realise that my comment was unacceptable. I do believe we all need to keep doing that work of better understanding the impact of our words and the ways in which racism functions. There are people on here who have talked about ‘playing the race card’ and ‘DEI hires’. It’s really offensive and they need to think about that.

Yes I would. Ive spent countless time supporting Lucy letby on here, with people saying 'well, if she was a minority, would you support her' 🙄

You quoted me specifically and you said "This whole exchange is a classic example of people treating accusations of racism as worse than racism." (i.e. the exchange where I was being accused of racism).

So yeah, it's entirely reasonable for me to conclude that you were referring to me and suggesting that I should consider why someone was accusing me of racism.

And I have, and my conclusion is that the accusation is a bunch of crap from a poster who has given me no reason to value their opinion.

So please don't lump me in with the other people you're referring to.

Who is the eugenicist who wanted him out? The story was first broken by a Times Higher Education Journalist doing his job who was threatened by the police and a lawsuit to shut the story down. Is this democracy? Journalists being threatened by the police and solicitors?
