Trying to cover all bases.

I’m not talking the “oh yeah I whack a teabag in my baggage”, i’m talking the type of stuff most people would never dream of taking.

Me too - its so handy!

I take a decent feather pillow and a good-sized bone china mug (have one in a sturdy box just for travel) with me most places, along with my preferred teabags, milk sticks and herbal teabags - but frankly I’m sounding like a lightweight in the quirky packing stakes.

(If my pillows are due for renewing, I replace them before I go and abandon the old one there.)

I will point the next person who rolls their eyes at me towards this thread … 🤣

We take several extension cables with us. So useful to only need a couple of adaptors but can charge multiple devices and plug in things like hairdryers and dhs cpap

We take a bottle of blue caracao and grenadine for cocktails as you cant always find them abroad. This year we also took a travel smoothie maker (also for cocktails and ds's smoothies).

We take some marinades and seasonings for the BBQ. Clothes pegs and line, washing/dishwasher pods, cloth, sponge, rubber gloves, knives, meat probe and a whole host of other things. Usually in a villa and can't be sure how much is provided.

We do too. So much easier than having multiple adapters!

I have a packing list saved and update it each year with thing we used/didnt use/should have taken, etc

On abroad trips I take:

• a four gang extension - everything can be charged with only one adaptor
• a tube of super glue - has repaired many things over the years
• a roll of sellotape
• a pair of kitchen scissors
• a collapsible travel kettle
• coffee bags (in individual foil sachets) and tea bags
• Savlon, Anthisan cream, Hydrocortisone 1% cream

On UK trips I take:

• Nespresso pixie, kept specifically for this purpose
• One extra pair of shoes per person - in case of wet shoes

Because the plane wouldn't take off if I took those extra five sheets .

I have bought some silk/satin pillowcases from Amazon. Take up very little space and, as well as being mine they are much gentler on sun frazzled hair

Also take sellotape and scissors. We also use bubblewrap on the glass bottles of blue curaçao/grenadine to keep them from breaking in the case

Ds takes his weighted blanket. Good thing we don't fly!
Dd2 had a couple of years where I had to check she was taking things other than books and soft toys/dolls. She felt they would be far more use than, for example, a change of clothes.

Where did you buy one at £5 i can't see it.

I like the idea of the emergency seatbelt cutter and window smasher. Not so much for a holiday but to keep in the car.

We fly with a weighted blanket.
ds gets a additional medical allowance. They just ask how much is needed. He usually gets an extra 15kg though. We have had an extra 25kg though in the past.

Common sense! I take one too.

A silk pillowcase, which makes me seem very la di da but even excellent cotton ones now leave me looking like Miracle Max in the morning.

An eye mask.

When the children were little I also used to bring a very long roll of tin foil and masking tape for windows at night and any night lights which might make the children question where they were/ disorientate them if they woke up. Not worth going on holiday and getting even less sleep than normal!

Oh, is that weird?! We only go on UK holidays in the car, but we always pack several extension leads. Holiday cottages & AirBnBs can be very hit and miss about having enough sockets and in the right place.

Why not take your own pillow cases?

I always pack an extension lead! Then you need one adapter and you can use multiple plugs. Or charge more than one phone when delayed at the airport
