Zack Polanski and the guillotine

AIBU to be sceptical that much will be done about Zack Polanski's tweet of an image of man wearing a t-shirt depicting a guillotine and the words "making plans for Nigel"?

Now I am not in favour of prosecuting people for words, and I don't want ZP sent to prison. But I would like to see this level of hate stop.

And I am finding the left to be extremely hypocritical with the violent rhetoric while simultaneously celebrating the arrest of Lucy Connelly and Graham Linehan?

Oh it was an error- she made a mistake in choosing October 7th as a deadline. Yeah, just like Polanksi and his BS with the guillotine. They are a Jewish hating party.

NellieJean · 30/07/2026 13:09

Two lots of idiots. I wouldn’t waste the headspace on either.

Sure Jan, just a little boo boo there.

If ever that meme was needed!

This is why I don’t buy Polanski saying it was a “mistake” either. It strikes me as very typical hide in plain sight dupers delight style gloating that I’ve seen many times from activists.

I think some people on his side in the Greens and elsewhere realise this, there were criticisms the other day that he was “terminally online” and maybe he should take a step back and allow others to manage his social media.

So many “mistakes” - how careless. You would think that date would kinda stick in the mind wouldn’t you.

Eventually people will realise how toxic and hateful the Green party has become. Events like this help raise awareness, so it's good in a way. His smug avoidance of any apology when interviewed on the BBC showed how that they believe their extreme ideological beliefs are the right beliefs and not open to challenge. He has positioned the Greens as you are either with us with our extreme idealogy, or you deserve hate and ridicule. He is just a dangerous as anything on the right of politics. If not more so because they can't even grasp what they have become. And time they changed their name and stopped hijacking an environmental agenda that they disconnected from a long time ago.

Absolutely!

Same here, and I started in the Ecology Party and had a career of 40 years working in Environmental and Climate Change areas in UK and Ireland.

Very much looks similar to Militant Tendency take over of the labour party pre Blaire, to me.

Had a Reform or Tory politician done what Polanski had, the left would be absolutely foaming at the mouth now, threatening all sorts.

The hypocrisy is breath-taking.

In this case the hypocrisy is entirely Nigel's. No need for whataboutery.

I don't like the kind of images posted or support that kind of politics and hate speech, but his party and supporters are the ones who endlessly go on about free speech and what snowflakes people are when they use hate speech all the time, and support people who have actually committed a criminal offence in inciting violence and destruction by posting incorrect information or inflammatory hyperbole.

Well, the boot is on the other foot here. They don't like it up 'em.

Goatsarebest · 30/07/2026 14:04

His Party Policy is very clear. Shared content is the individual's responsibility.

I couldn't agree more OP and I'm fairly left wing.

It was also good to see that Kemi Badenoch has tempered her horrible aggressive attacks during PM questions time recently. There is no need for nastiness.

Politicians of all persuasions need to be more professional and stop with the hate.

They reported that Lucy Connelly had been badly advised by her defence. There's nothing wrong with pointing out an error of judgement. One of their party speakers has just been murdered, as you know. Some clever arse decided it would be funny to depict Farage being beheaded. You can say what you want about this but it's the hard left who always go too far. Hope not Hate have also been used to print misinformation to stir up trouble.

DeftGoldHedgehog · 30/07/2026 14:11

Perhaps a positive thing to come out of this will be that Reform and Restore and their supporters will now be more careful about what they post online and realise that freedom of speech comes with responsibility, and stop calling people snowflakes.

Personally though, I'm not holding my breath.

SerendipityJane · 30/07/2026 14:11

The clarion whine of everyone ever found guilty. She should have sued.

LuckyHazelFox · 30/07/2026 14:15

There is definitely a positive to come out of this. Green party and its supporters have been confirmed as hiding their hate behind caricatures of murder.

BIossomtoes · 30/07/2026 14:15

Some clever arse decided it would be funny to depict Farage being beheaded.

They didn’t actually. The whole thing was implied by the juxtaposition of words and an image. No image of Farage was involved. Try googling the image.

Oh please what? The T-shirt had a cartoon guillotine and a song title. Your description is factually incorrect.

The Greens are a disgrace. Just when you think they can't sink any lower.

I've got to say that's actually one sick bitch and I don't normally call women that. Fucked up beyond belief she is. I wouldn't want to be anywhere near her.

If it was so innocent, why are thousands celebrating its release on social media?

It's completely true that it's not antisemitic to criticise Israel or to be on the Gazan side of this. So I do have to wonder why so many of them can't manage to do it without being antisemitic. To be honest, the more they show themselves up, the more I think the Jewish state really needs to exist.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 30/07/2026 14:23

As I’ve said, the disingenuousness is part of the problem on all sides.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 30/07/2026 14:24

And again, it doesn’t always work. “Innocent face” didn’t work for Sally Bercow.

I didn’t say it was innocent. I said your description of it was incorrect.
