What are you doing this fine Friday night? What general area, life situation, age etc?
Late 40’s here, live abroad, but desperate to return home. Lay on sofa, very hot, listening to my Dd play upstairs with her friend, batting flies off me, night in front of the tele when really should make the effort to go to the beach down the road and make the most of summer.
In a rubbish marriage, challenging child who I adore and trying to keep hope for the future

You?

I'm 48, single and bought a camper van this time last year. I'm currently on the Yorkshire coast between Whitby and Staithes. I'm just contemplating doing some cooking whilst relaxing outside my van with a glass of wine.
Life may not be perfect but it could be worse.

This is my dream!

But currently drinking fizz with DH in garden with 2 DCats while lasagna cooks. Love this point of the weekend when time is all in front of you.

We live in the Scotland, mid 40s all but one child are travelling this summer with their Uni pals, the youngest is flying the nest in September to Uni but they’ve gone out with pals to Glasgow for the weekend so we have an empty. DH is making pizza for dinner and I’m just out of the bath. My friend popped over earlier with some lovely home made sloe gin, I can’t decide whether to have a glass of that later or the elderflower cider I have in the fridge. We watched Kingsman last weekend and we’ve found another of those to watch after dinner. It’ll be early to bed for us anyway as we’ve been up since 4.30 bringing hay in while the weathers good.

cheapskatemum · 24/07/2026 19:46

Mid sixties, adult children. DH & I are at a festival. The Last Dinner Party are about to play & then David Byrne, which I am very excited about! It’s a lovely warm evening, just right for open air gigs.

EllaPaella · 24/07/2026 20:05

@Lelophantsno comedy recommendations but I’m also enjoying ‘I Jack Wright’ on iplayer

Simonjt · 24/07/2026 20:06

Late thirties, married, two children. We’re on a little childfree holiday in our summer house, we’ve done very little today, at the minute my husbands in the bath and I’ll go and join him in a few minutes. We head home tomorrow and our children will be home in the afternoon, I’ve missed them so much, so I’m really excited about tomorrow.

Purplecatshopaholic · 24/07/2026 20:09

Early 50s. Scotland. Just been out with my dogs and boyfriend. Relaxing on the sofa watching True Crime stuff on my iPad and popping in here every so often. It’s been a hard week, so some chilling time is welcome.

Not as good as UK but Ive found I can get into all of them after a few episodes. Often in the first episode I skip a fair bit (like the tasks). Karine has amazing outfits and there have been a few good twists!

I agree, just stick with it! I like the mix of normal people and ex big brother stars etc - not that I recognise any of them !

JuneJuneHannah · 24/07/2026 20:11

Mid 30s, kids out playing with friends and DH and I are chilling watching Gone on ITV. I’m absolutely knackered after a day shopping so will be heading to bed after this. Have an event tomorrow though so need to put some tan on before bed.

IHaveQuestionsLotsOfQuestions · 24/07/2026 20:12

My week has been crazy. I have a very intense job dealing with lots of serious, often quite sad things, so I'm very ready to chill out tonight.

I've cooked a curry, am having a glass of wine in the garden first before I sit down to eat it with DH and the two DC.

After dinner, they'll probably all jump on the playstation together while I go upstairs and watch Love Island in bed. The DC will go to bed around 10, then DH will come and join me and we might have a cheeky shag if I'm still awake!

Tomorrow morning I'll go to the gym. Edit: I'm mid forties.

killerqueen2026 · 24/07/2026 20:13

42, finished work and came home. Went back out to the post office and Aldi. Just got in the bath
planning to make a lasagne bake tomorrow (lasagne but with rigatoni!)

hattie43 · 24/07/2026 20:13

60 here , just taken the dogs to the beach and am now home and going to water my hedge . Even that is dying in this relentless dry spell . Then it’s a peruse of Netflix to find a good thriller and a glass of wine . I’m normally out with friends on a Friday so this feels indulgent.

MakeMineAMilkyTea · 24/07/2026 20:13

Early 40s, watching tv whilst son is upstairs gaming. Stupidly hot as well with fan on yet still drinking tea like it’s going out of fashion. Have mega swollen legs and ankles today so just relaxing and scrolling

palorina · 24/07/2026 20:20

Sitting on my recliner looking out at the trees and the hills. There's a bit of smoke up there in the distance so it might be a gorse fire, nothing on the local news about it. Yet.

Have just finished filling multiple watering cans and carting them up and down the long garden to give the plants a drink. Am wrecked now. But I bought a small festival cart and will put the cans in that from tomorrow, when I assemble it, looks so cute and will save my 65yr old back!

Other than that, I'm here on my own which is great, nothing new there, I live alone. Don't drink so having a decaf with frothy stuff and a Wispa bar. LOL.

mondaytosunday · 24/07/2026 20:41

64, widow, one child (22) lives independently the other (21) would normally be home when not at uni but is in Columbia for an internship currently.
Tonight I’m crocheting a throw for my son’s birthday in his footie team colours while watching ‘I will find you’. I’ve just had dinner and for a sweet treat a Dr Pepper Zero had just been opened (I’m on a diet)! Fan is on as muggy today. It’s all happening at my house 😂 but I’m perfectly content. Just need to get this throw finished!

VictoriaEra · 24/07/2026 20:44

Late fifties, two adult children at home. We've made a Gousto between us and cleared up. Now I'm reading John of John by Douglas Stuart.

Loubissou · 24/07/2026 20:53

Mid 50s. Went for a run, cooked dinner while son and husband were cricket coaching. Older son working in village pub. Now drinking rosé and trying to be bothered to find the TV remote!

Zov · 24/07/2026 20:58

I'm out having a great night with all my friends, and dancing and partying, and eating fine food, and having the time of my life. 😎

I'm lying. 😛I'm sat on my laptop on Mumsnet, with Alexa playing Greatest Hits Radio 1970s, whilst DH snoring in the fecking armchair! Wish he would fuck off to bed. He will claim he's just having a nap, but he is in a deep sleep and snoring like a pig! Just go to BED! At least I can put one of MY programmes on then without him waking up part way through and asking 100 questions about it!

50s loads of kids fending off UTi after trip to GP, dinner will be toast and hummus and I’ll watch some rubbish.

If you aren’t on vaginal oestrogen look into it! It stopped recurrent UTIs for me (and is a thing). Hope you keep it at bay.

50's here. Just got back from running errands, then will go find my nervous cat for her evening walk around the streets (yep), before going to water the flowers at the churchyard I volunteer at. It's behind my house so easy to lend a hand with the garden. Hopefully be back by 10pm and my other half will make me a huge mug of tea :-)

I love a cat that likes a walk. My old boy used to sit on the doorstep and greet passersby, loved women in particular.

Chelsea26 · 24/07/2026 21:23

46 here, sitting in the garden with DP and DMIL drinking wine and listening to the radio.

We both WFH today so had a bit of a lie in and got some jobs done. My boys would normally be here but they are on holiday with their dad so it’s just DP’s kids and DSD’s boyfriend here tonight.

We had Fando’s for dinner and the kids cleared up then disappeared up to their rooms, they did hang out with us earlier bless them.

DMIL will head off shortly and I imagine DP and I will stay here on the outside sofa listening to more music and chatting before bed.

Nothing planned for tomorrow but nice food and a bob in the pool if it gets too hot.

Fridaygin · 24/07/2026 21:23

Early 40s. Worked all day, then picked up DS from my parents as he'd been there a few days so that was a couple of hours of driving. DP is now doing bedtime duties while I doom scroll for a bit with my headphones in.

DesperatelyConfused6 · 24/07/2026 21:45

37, widowed last year. DC at PILs, I'm sat in the garden contemplating an early night & hoping it motivates me to deep clean the house tomorrow to enjoy a restful Sunday before DC return on Monday.

54, sat on the sofa with my sausage dog binge watching 1000lb sisters and eating boiled sweets.
Dd is upstairs with a thick lip- she got smacked in the face by a toolbox at work.
Dh due home from work in half an hour.
Spent an inordinate amount of time this week on my hands and knees scrubbing my kitchen floor and stair carpet so chilling before the decorating continues. tomorrow.

Dweetfidilove · 24/07/2026 21:54

Mid-40s, single.
My teenager is overseas, so I've spent the week in blissful quiet.
Went out after 8pm to watch the sun set. Back now watching a K-drama.
