AIBU to feel embarrassed after queefing during sex with a new partner

Have posted in the sex thread but also here for traffic.
Absolutely mortified to be writing this but maybe need some perspective.
I'm 44 and haven't had sex for 3 years, I've been dating someone new for a month and last week things progressed to our first time having sex. We hadn't even properly began and he just put the tip of his penis in and my vagina made a queef sound, mortified! He tried again straight away and it happened again. I totally freaked and started to make a big deal of it (totally not mature I know) after a couple of minutes we tried again and yep it happened a third time! I get that it be quite normal but after going down a google rabbit hole its more common in doggy or after thrusting and moving position or at the end. This started off as standard missionary and he'd only just put the tip in. Not normal is it? This also hasn't happened to me since my 20s, I've had 4 sexual partners since then and it didn't happen with them.
So now I'm feeling completely embarrassed and wondering why the fuck I had so much air there right at the start and why, it's totally put me off, a brand new partner and this happens first time I try and sleep with him, I don't think I can bring myself to try again with him.
Am I over reacting? Would love to know if a guy is secretly put off by this and just doesn't say. I'm cringing just thinking about it.

YABVU

I bet he didn't bat an eyelid.
Did you enjoy it? Then go back for more.
Men don't give a shit about this type thing.

GrantMyWishes · 23/07/2026 20:00

I hate to say it OP, but if you're so uncomfortable about this happening, are you sure you're ready to have sex with him? To me, sex shouldn't happen until you feel comfortable enough to deal with stuff like this, so I think maybe you need to get more comfortable with him before you try again.

Whenever something like that has happened to me, I've always ended up having a fit of the giggles, and we've laughed and talked until the urge once again took over.

NCForOneNightOnly · 23/07/2026 20:04

I’ve yet to find a man that actually gave a hoot about this or a woman that never experienced it. You’re being unreasonable to be so mortified. Just enjoy the sex and ignore the unexpected sound effects.

Littlebitpsycho · 23/07/2026 20:05

Hahaha this happened to me a couple of months in with my partner. He mentioned it in a jokey way afterwards and I told him 'well if you'd filled me up with cock instead of air we wouldn't have that problem'

Then we practically rolled on the floor with laughter and it was never mentioned again. Don't worry about it, perfectly normal and blokes are usually so excited to be getting it they wouldn't even think to mention it 🤷‍♀️

SnapAndFartAllDayLong · 23/07/2026 20:11

My DH always makes me do this when in doggy and he apologies to me 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 I mean, it is his fault for putting the air in there in the first place 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

SilverPink · 23/07/2026 20:17

This is the second thread I’ve read about queefing in 2 weeks. Didn’t know what it meant before, I certainly do now 😐

Thatpastalife · 23/07/2026 20:20

Happens all the time with my husband and I but we like to do multiple positions so lots of movement and opportunity for air. I’ve never not chuckled, not a big deal at all. I mean a proper bum fart may be harder to laugh off with a new partner…

ChickenBananaBanana · 23/07/2026 20:21

I doubt he cared op. It always makes my husband and I laugh when it happens to me.

clearlyy · 23/07/2026 20:22

It’s so normal! YABU.

I mean it's in the title if you didn't want to read further?

Unexpectedlysinglemum · 23/07/2026 20:27

I remember this happening abd the man saying ‘I’ll take that as a compliment’ 😂

BCBird · 23/07/2026 20:31

When this happened the first time I was embarrassed after that it was a source of amusement for us both.

Lsquiggles · 23/07/2026 20:33

What do you have to feel embarrassed about? You didn't fill yourself with air on purpose 😂

What did he say at the time? I really can't imagine any man really caring about it!

The sex equivalent of compliments to the chef.

Tableforjoan · 23/07/2026 20:37

You needed to play it off.

More dick less air please.

It doesn’t happen often to me but if I laugh at the end of doggy it will I tell dh I’m giving him his cum back and then I laugh more so then it’s louder and prouder 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Phoenix1Arisen · 23/07/2026 20:39

We always called them fanny farts.

Oh no, come on! Not everyone has the same sense of humour

hugasaurus · 23/07/2026 20:44

I remember this happened with now DH early in our relationship. I was mortified but he didn’t even seem to notice, I think generally they’re just so excited to be in that region in the first place takes a lot to put them off. It’s happened on and off during the many years of sex together and it’s just laughed off now and we carry on!

Yes and the older you get you don't have them anymore. Well I don't anyway in my 50s.awful things when you're younger.

Dustydolly · 23/07/2026 20:53

Thanks for all your messages of reassurance.
It was the very first time, brand new partner! I mean come on why did it have to happen straight away

Tableforjoan · 23/07/2026 20:56

It’s a test from your vagina to his sense of humour.

Bakeittillyoumakeit · 23/07/2026 21:00

You just gotta laugh OP. Sex is quite undignified in all manner of ways.

PinotPony · 23/07/2026 21:01

If he was only putting the tip in and out, that sounds like the perfect recipe for a lot of air going in too.

It’s perfectly normal and nothing to be embarrassed about. If you can’t bring yourself to crack a joke, at least just acknowledge it with an eye roll and a smile.

Blummingorgeous · 23/07/2026 21:17

YANBU OP I’d be mortified too - everyone telling you to chill - it was the first time with someone new!! Wld’ve been much less embarrassing if you’d been together a while - I remember it happening with a relatively new partner and being mortified - but what everyone is saying is definitely true - men aren’t grossed out or anything by it. Mine said it was actually a turn on because that’s what he’d made me do??!! Seems anything to do with that part of the anatomy they’re ok with!! So don’t panic too much. It won’t put him off you that’s for sure.
