AIBU to feel embarrassed after queefing during sex with a new partner

Have posted in the sex thread but also here for traffic.
Absolutely mortified to be writing this but maybe need some perspective.
I'm 44 and haven't had sex for 3 years, I've been dating someone new for a month and last week things progressed to our first time having sex. We hadn't even properly began and he just put the tip of his penis in and my vagina made a queef sound, mortified! He tried again straight away and it happened again. I totally freaked and started to make a big deal of it (totally not mature I know) after a couple of minutes we tried again and yep it happened a third time! I get that it be quite normal but after going down a google rabbit hole its more common in doggy or after thrusting and moving position or at the end. This started off as standard missionary and he'd only just put the tip in. Not normal is it? This also hasn't happened to me since my 20s, I've had 4 sexual partners since then and it didn't happen with them.
So now I'm feeling completely embarrassed and wondering why the fuck I had so much air there right at the start and why, it's totally put me off, a brand new partner and this happens first time I try and sleep with him, I don't think I can bring myself to try again with him.
Am I over reacting? Would love to know if a guy is secretly put off by this and just doesn't say. I'm cringing just thinking about it.

Can you do a strategic cough to cover it? 😂

YANBU OP I’d be mortified too - everyone telling you to chill - it was the first time with someone new!! Wld’ve been much less embarrassing if you’d been together a while - I remember it happening with a relatively new partner and being mortified - but what everyone is saying is definitely true - men aren’t grossed out or anything by it. Mine said it was actually a turn on because that’s what he’d made me do??!! Seems anything to do with that part of the anatomy they’re ok with!! So don’t panic too much. It won’t put him off you that’s for sure.

Yes exactly! First time and that had to happen 🤦🏼‍♀️

It’s just an air pocket. It’s pretty normal and anyone who’s had sex more than once will likely be acquainted and not give a shit. I’ve yet to meet anyone who’s cared. I think we sometimes judge and scrutinise ourselves more harshly than anyone else.

be nice to yourself, you are a loving breathing human not a sex toy. And that’s a good thing.

sex is sweaty and sticky and weird and wonderful if we really think about it.

Pieceofpurplesky · 23/07/2026 23:42

Did you carry on? I am sure he didn't care at all

Fajdutcja · 24/07/2026 00:07

Im with you OP I would have been absolutely mortified

EmeraldShamrock000 · 24/07/2026 00:20

It hasnt happened to me in years. I think I’d laugh if it happened with a new partner, hopefully next time is quieter down below. 🤣

Fajdutcja · 24/07/2026 00:22

And I don’t think it’s as common as people say it’s only happened to me once or twice and im late 30s so yes I would be honestly mortified

McGregor33 · 24/07/2026 01:04

What I have learned, is if you laugh, it’s gonna keep happening 😂😂 I burst out laughing after doggy and yup, it was like they just kept on coming 🙈

I do keep hearing it's common and normal but it hasn't happened to me in years and as normal as everyone says it is it's absolutely embarrassing with a new partner for the first time.

presumably you continued and that was that. non issue

Sartre · 24/07/2026 07:34

Happens to everyone and is totally natural and normal. Only an immature idiot would laugh or mock, grown men really don’t care or bat an eyelid. Very very common in doggy.

TrishM80 · 24/07/2026 08:58

I guess it's only women that are allowed to get "the ick" then?!

You think men get the ick from it then?

Bless you OP, i wont go to yoga in public because downward facing dog always makes mine go off without fail 🙈
Maybe try that and a few other positions to deflate before you try again...

Esmeraldathe3rd · 24/07/2026 11:03

Literally completely normal. It's just what's going to happen when you push something in a hole. It happens quite a lot for us, it happens more the more lubricated, excited you are, moving around into different positions, pulling all the way out before going back in. It's not a big deal at all.

He would probably be more turned off by your behaviour than the actual sound tbh.

You know it's not actually a fart right?

ohlookimoneofthose · 24/07/2026 18:19

It happened the first time with my Husband, just after we'd done the deed, and he clocked my look of mortification, and just reassured me by saying: 'You can blow me kisses whenever you like!' We both fell about laughing then, and realised the ice was broken well and truly!

No. Not at all. If anything he’ll think he’s unique and has magic superpowers. I doubt it will happen again. It happened to me early in my relationship, he’s still here 20 years later.

HolyMoly24 · 24/07/2026 18:38

It happens to me if I’m on my back and my knees are pushed back towards my chest.

It’s just one of those things. I very much doubt a man is put off by it. Probably just find it mildly amusing if anything.

ChangedforObviousReasons2024 · 24/07/2026 18:42

This happened the first time with my OH, it was a rather energetic session with position changing, he said, sorry that's my fault and we carried on.. 3 years later we aren't quite so energetic 😂

Crochetandtea · 24/07/2026 18:45

If this embarrasses you then you’re having sex too soon. Sex should be with someone you trust.

Pedallleur · 24/07/2026 18:47

Just play to his ego. You have such a girthy cock it's forcing the air out around it. Can guarantee he isn't going to stop and get dressed or start sulking

Go off without fail 🤣🤣. Sorry that made me laugh too much. OP, someone you want to have sex with should be someone you can laugh with. See him again or not based on what his reaction was, not your feeling of embarrassment.

KitsyWitsy · 24/07/2026 19:51

I always get this when taken from behind. One of the reasons why that is a relationship only position for me! I hate it.

FFSItsTooHot · 24/07/2026 21:34

Oh dear I'm sorry OP but I had to laugh! This has happened to me a few times over the years and I just laughed and made a joke of it! Believe me,if a man likes you enough to be in bed with you,he's not going to be the slightest bit bothered about it!
