No, what some people on MN see is the is the bigger picture beyond the few billion that the wealth taxes might bring.

The can see the damage to the housing market, the investment desirability of the country and the killing of any entrepreneurial aspirations.

Has London fallen? Hollywood, investors and professionals say no

Reports of the capital’s demise are greatly exaggerated as top talent continue to choose the city above others worldwide

Still, eh? Thank fuck for that.

I don’t need an article to tell me what I see in London.

I live there.

Quite.
There are also heaps of charities crying out for donations

Eg.
Environmental charities
Almshouse charities
School PTAs
Medical charities (especially for rare or less talked about conditions)

I think you’ll find facts trump anecdote. They’re so inconvenient, aren’t they?

SakuraTea · 24/07/2026 12:54

There doesnt seem to be a huge fashion for philanthropy in this country at the moment. It can actually make a huge difference. Many of our great parks, museums, schools hospitals and libraries were founded by philanthropists

What part of living, working and seeing with your own eyes don’t you understand?

Actually, I know which one it is.

What part of objective facts don’t you understand?

I trust the experience I have in my work, which is very difficult for you to understand.

And I’m not clicking on dodgy links.

I live in London too. And have a different view. The house prices need to come down they are beyond stupid and have been for years...it's ok if you're wealthy or have money from the bank of mum and dad..the rest of us are living a nightmare in terms of high rents and houses that are out of reach even when they are suppose to be affordable...and anyone who says just move out needs to give their head a wobble as it's not that simple.

It’s still The Times. If you refuse to consider the evidence provided by others it’s little wonder your posts have little credibility.

Misinformation? It is fact that he took steps, over a long period of time, to reduce his tax liabilities. And now he's trying to say he'd like to pay more?

More misinformation
its how many people operate, not just in entertainment but in construction.

its hardly taking steps to avoid tax

RodneyKitten · 24/07/2026 13:32

Yep, always what's trotted out, every time.

Oh well, let's see what Burnham does and let's see whether Lineker & his pals' ideas gain any traction.
