It’s a house buying one (with listings)

Posting in AIBU for traffic.

DH and I are going to view two houses on the same road but are already at odds on which we each prefer.

Please can you give your views on each - ignoring the price, as this isn’t an issue for the right house. It’s us + DS with no plans for any more kids. We both WFH, but on different days.

House 1

Note with house 2, the second sitting room is on a sort of middle/split level, it’s not on the same floor as the bedrooms. We would likely use that as a main living room, and look to eventually knock through the kitchen into the lounge (thoughts welcome on that plan too!)

House 2 100%
House one is too squished
House 2- i like the rooms its light and airy

Two is much nicer and cheaper

The second needs a touch of modernising but it has a roomier feel and I really prefer it.

House 2.

House 1 looks really cramped in every aspect and the layout upstairs is batshit.

Buy house 2 for less money and use the extra £50k on making it amazing,

House 2 for the potential. I do like house 1 but what the hell with all the hotel esque shots, it's far too try hard.

😬 Sorry I don’t love either of them at all. Not to my taste, but the first one is particularly off putting. What is that long room with the green thing? Is that a bed? I can’t even work it out.

Two is better, if I had to choose. But totally would depend on neighbours and what’s immediately around it.

I suppose it depends how important the outside space is to you.

Bar the obvious painting etc, is there anything you (and others) would suggest in terms of modernising/improvements? I would want to get a bath put in, that’s an obvious one.

I don’t understand what is going on with house 1. House 2 far better. But maybe it would be different in real life, especially considering the pricing.

House 1, a lot of the bedrooms look small. The PP who said the house was squished is spot on.

Looks like a massage bed, maybe they run their own therapy business from home? Could be a versatile space but looks quite narrow.

You would need to put more work into 2 if budget allows.

Another vote for house no 2 . It just needs updating in paint, furniture and decor and will then look great. I prefer having a separate living room to the kitchen, and not all open plan.

House one could have problems because of the foliage growing up the outside.
I prefer house two with some modernisation it could be fab.
And yes, what is the weird utility area in picture 11 house 1?

I think no 2 is MUCH nicer. The first house has been ruined by having so much if the ground floor open plan. If that’s a giant climbing plant up the front of the house, you will probably have huge problems with it having caused damage to the brickwork and mortar. I think the long room in no 1 is really weird.

Redecorating would make a big impact.
Im a bit perplexed but the sink location but if you're planning to have the main reception in the 2nd reception id redo the kitchen using the full space and maybe have a small breakfast corner.
I'd use the room next door as a family/ dining room but id definitely live there for a couple of years before knocking the wall down to make the GF open plan - as it is uou have space for teens & yourself

I'm going against the majority... I would go with house 1 UNLESS I wanted/needed 4 bedrooms.

House 1 for me, I think it’s much nicer,

House 2 has no bath, and that shower room is hideous
