aibu to wear Men’s Sure Maximum Protection roll-on deodorant?

It is so lovely - the scent reminds me of DH in his Sporty Era (dh for some reason switched brands and no longer smells delicious).

It started last year when I was hospitalised and bedbound unexpectedly in the middle of the summer and instead of bringing in my own toiletries Dh just decided to bring me his own 🤷 and now I’m hooked.

dh doesn’t seem to care, and I don’t wear it on “sex days” and apparently hasn’t therefore noticed/ commented that I no longer smell like “cotton” or spring flowers or whatever.

To me this seems perfectly reasonable but I wondered, in a committed relationship, if it’s some sort of faux pas to adopt the scent of your dh as your own…

I wear the same thing. It’s very effective, and that’s pretty much all I care about

I have swapped deodorants about 8 times over the last few years due to increasing sensitivity. No one has ever noticed or mentioned the scent apart from DH once when I specifically asked him about a natural deodorant that wasn’t cutting it!

Absolute faux pas in committed relationship. You will grow back hair, start grunting as answers, your dh will find some soft flower smelling like cotton. He will not want to be with someone who faintly smells like him. Obvs.

If he ever notices I'd be stunned. For what it's worth, "fragrance" which is having a moment is having a unisex moment, so you're bang on trend.

This is so weird. Did he bring you a bag full of his clothes? It's not even just a male/female thing; it's about people being individuals.

Is his name Homer and did he once give you a personalised bowling ball for your birthday...?

I always use ‘man’ Right Guard. Oddly there are far more different smells in the manly black can than in the feeble female white ones.

I always thought that Diesel was just the brand; not the actual smell.

Wearing “men’s” deodorant as a woman isn’t particularly unusual. The “faux pas” bit is where you’re in hospital and your DH brings you his toiletries instead of your own. That is frankly weird.

Men have multiple varieties and timbres of farts and deep sweat to cover up.

As we all know, women never fart or sweat; so deodorant is just a formality, really: nothing more than a frivolous excuse to display a delightfully pretty can on the bathroom shelf.

I wear man roll on deodorant, husband usually gets it in toiletries at Christmas he hates it so i use it . Sex days though so many questions ! Does your deodorant.make you feel manly does your husband need you to smell more lady like ?

I prefer men’s deodorant as I prefer sharper less floral scents. DH bulk buys deodorant at Costco and DH, me and the 2 DS grab one each.

With 3 blokes in the house (the DS are adult) I have a wide array of aftershaves to choose from too 😂

For some reason (maybe the 'being in hospital' theme), that reminded me of an old MN thread about ridiculous things that customers/service users have said to you in your workplace.

One poster worked in a hospital and a grown man came in and said "I've been told that Grandad has been brought in - can I visit him, please?". When she asked what the patient's name was, to find the right ward, he looked at her like she was utterly stupid and said "I already told you: his name is Grandad!!"

Where did you get "clothes" from?

When people are taken into hospital unexpectedly, they don't have things like clothes and toiletries with them, so a family member will usually take a bag in for them.

Traditionally, the family member will pack items belonging to/appropriate for the patient; but if OP's DH took her his toiletries, I was wondering if he'd also taken her a bag of his clothes too?!

I am aware of the process. I wondered why toiletries became clothes. Still wondering. I am assuming that he did not bring her his toothbrush, so merely picked up deodorant that was his.

They didn't; you would normally need both toiletries and clothes.

OP just said that he brought her his toiletries 'instead of' her own, so I've no idea if that meant everything or just one or two items?! She didn't say that he brought her own toiletries but also popped in his own deo as well.
