Once. I still think about it now. It was years ago and we are still married. He knows how bad it was has never happened again.

MamaToABeautifulBoy · 22/07/2026 06:40

No.

I would be pretty repulsed if he did.

Not that I don’t think the word has its place, it does and can be quite funny when used sparingly and appropriately. Some people are huge ones.

AquaWhichIsFrenchForWater · 22/07/2026 06:52

We use it in jest quite a lot (“here’s the gorgeous cunt!” when he returns from work for example), but never swear at each other if we have a heated discussion.

IronEverything · 22/07/2026 06:57

In some places it's really not a big deal. I don't understand why it's seen as some sort of Voldemort word and ultimate insult to be honest.

Around here you'll hear dumb cunt/silly cunt and all sorts of other "__cunt". It's no different to any other swear word.

Sometimeswinning · 22/07/2026 07:10

He wouldn’t. I use the word though so…

Error404FucksNotFound · 22/07/2026 07:17

Good god, no!

User0311 · 22/07/2026 07:18

He’d be my ex husband if he had!

Disasterclass · 22/07/2026 07:22

I wonder if all the people who use it jokingly are Scottish?

I don’t have an issue with the word as such, it’s how it’s used. If DP called me any names to try to upset me or in anger I’d not be happy, but that could just as easily be words like bitch. So far (25 years) that hasn’t happened

BauhausOfEliott · 22/07/2026 07:30

No, he’s never called me a cunt. We’ve never called each other any names in anger, really.

We both swear a lot and certainly refer to other people as cunts, though.

Jinxy1 · 22/07/2026 07:31

Yes but not in malice, just in jest. I’ve even called myself a stupid cunt. Where I live it’s normal and no one gets offended. Those who are better not come to Glasgow!

TheMarriageOfAirAndFrock · 22/07/2026 07:35

This is an open forum, @3Sheetstothewind - people can reply as they choose.

And you can use the word cunt here.

Buy I’m sorry if it’s been used to upset or abuse you at home.

RabbitRunRabbit · 22/07/2026 07:35

1st ExH used to call me all sorts of nasty names, but never that.

2nd ExH and I used to call each other it often, but it was meant with love and affection! If it had been used in an abusive/nasty way that would have been a different story.

My Australian friend taught me to calm down about the word cunt. It’s always said in such a good way that it lost whatever taboo (I assume because it’s connected to women) it has.

Start using it more. It becomes nothing!

Sounds like we’re from the same place 😂

Never - and if I was he would not be my significant other.

“here’s the gorgeous cunt!”

This is fabulous.

I’m Welsh and we use it jokingly all the time.

Cooshawn · 22/07/2026 13:39

My husband has never called me by any derogatory term in the 25 years of knowing him.

We use it jokingly but never in anger.
NE Scotland.

KojaksLollipop · 22/07/2026 13:43

Never. Even when I had a bloody awful rant at him when he was leaving me. I told him exactly what I hated about him, that he was weak and self centred etc. I held nothing back. I was being a c**t and no qualms about it, he still didn’t call me it.

BoredZelda · 22/07/2026 13:44

Never. But I don’t live in Glasgow…..

Not my experience of NE Scotland. Definitely my experience in Glasgow.

You haven't been to our house,we don't use it outside.

Shatteredallthetimelately · 22/07/2026 13:47

That to me is an awful word.

But no, in all our 46 years together DH has never used any swear words, openly, at me.

Dr13Hadley · 22/07/2026 14:02

No and he knows I hate that word. He does say it to inanimate IT devices and DIY objects though! In fact I don’t think he’s ever called me any sort of name apart from my own…..but we don’t have big shouty arguments more like frustrated rants 😂
