Yes, but only in jest. I’m not remotely offended by the word and we quite often greet each other with silly names. It would be very different if he said it in an argument though.

DramaAlpaca · 21/07/2026 21:56

No, never. In any relationship, including my current one of 38 years.

mohammedchungus · 21/07/2026 21:57

Probably and I’ve used it too along the lines of “ugh, stop being a cunt” and said with a smile/roll of the eyes 🤷‍♀️ I don’t think it holds the same level of hate here, my friends will often say they’re being a bit cunty if they’re having a moan or it can just be used quite neutrally.

Soontobe60 · 21/07/2026 21:59

I have been married twice. Neither husband has called me any names.

CatInTheRhombus · 21/07/2026 22:00

Never. My husband has never called me a name or said anything in an argument solely with the intent of hurting my feelings. That would be a dealbreaker to me, whether it was cunt or something “milder”.

Poshjock · 21/07/2026 22:01

All the time, and I have similarly called him it too. But not in an angry hateful way. We are a very sweary couple and it's pretty much normal conversation around here. Where I live and grew up it is a very common word and is probably more often used as a filler word or a modifier but not necessarily as a "bad" word. DH is ex military and his communication with friends is littered with a wide variety of swears, and insults are considered a mark of friendship/kinship.

My username comes from a nickname years ago, because I don't have as thick (rough) an accent as my peers, and pronunciate a little more, an English work colleague thought it was hilarious that I "swore politely" and coined the nickname.

CocSoc · 21/07/2026 22:01

No. But get it called a lot in work!… I’ve become desensitised to it but would still be offended if dh called me it

britespark1 · 21/07/2026 22:04

Yes once and never ever again after I absolutely lost my shit and told him I would divorce him next time.

No occasionally dh starts to use f word in an argument if he is getting frustrated (because he’s losing) he gets told in no uncertain terms not to swear at me.

Me and DP don't swear at each other in arguments (we do at other times when it's funny)

But I really thing I'd struggle to say "Don't swear at me" without adding an f-bomb to it.

It would defeat the entire point of what you're saying but it just improves the cadence of the sentence immensely, and the irony would just be delightful.

YourAquaLion · 21/07/2026 22:06

Once my husband called me a selfish egotistical cunt after we’d both been drinking and had an argument. I found it really funny for some reason! Probably cos he was really worked up and I just didn’t care if he thought that cos I was pissed! This was many years ago now, and I probably was to be fair. I’m a good friend but struggled with intimate relationships. I’ve done a lot of work on myself and we are in a good place these days. I don’t dwell on it and it still makes me chuckle when I think about it. Maybe I’m a total psychopath or something! 😂😂😂

MissyB1 · 21/07/2026 22:25

I wouldn’t be with a man who used that word.

Yeah we swear in normal conversations too. I think it sounds agressive when you’re angry. According to dh when I tell him not to swear at me I sound like a teacher disciplining him.

Buggeroffboss · 21/07/2026 22:33

Not in the context you mean.

Name calling our relationship is only ever in jest/ jokingly/ in good humour etc. Never in anger or a fight. Never when one of us is in a bad mood or upset. One of us might say ooh your being a cunty chops or stop twatting about.

JLou08 · 21/07/2026 22:33

Yes. I've called him a cunt too. The word doesn't really carry much meaning to me, it's similar to me saying he's annoying. Personal insults are what I would find hurtful.

ThingsCouldBeEasier · 21/07/2026 22:42

My husband has never called me names or sworn at me.

TheWonderhorse · 21/07/2026 23:50

Yes! But not seriously. We do swear when we argue but we rarely argue and neither of us are bothered by the words we use more than the sentiment behind it. You can hurt feelings just as easily with acceptable vocabulary.

DP and I find it hysterical when one of us wilfully overreacts to something minor. So if he bumps into me accidentally he might get called all manner of colourful filth. He does the same sort of thing with me.

donotgettheangst · 22/07/2026 06:10

Hell, no!

FerryConfused · 22/07/2026 06:12

Yes, by both exhs.

allaboardthetram · 22/07/2026 06:16

Yes but then we both like the word haha

LiveLuvLaugh · 22/07/2026 06:18

Never

Same here. It’s almost a term of endearment where we live.

JuliettaCaeser · 22/07/2026 06:31

Hell would freeze over. But I married a decent lovely man.

It’s a hateful ugly word. I have only ever been called it as a term of abuse by evil misogynistic men when younger for daring to exist in the world..I think immediately think less of anyone who uses it even in jest and I don’t care if it’s ok in Scotland or something. It’s not ok

Munchyseeds2 · 22/07/2026 06:34

Never
We don't shout and swear at each other

OwlBeThere · 22/07/2026 06:35

loads of times and vice versa. but not in anger, ita almost a term of endearment in our house.

Wores like stupid or ugly are banned in my house though.

lookatmylife · 22/07/2026 06:36

Yes, and I’ve called him a cunt. We don’t tend to have angry arguments but day to day we’re quite sweary and jokey with each other.

It would be different if it was said in anger or to hurt me.
