Just because a migrant says there is a migration problem, that does not mean there is a migration problem.

There is a migration problem. There is an integration problem.

You are deluded and in denial, and this means you re actually doing a massive disservice to all migrants living in the UK.
Because your delusion and stubbornness give no other choice to concerned people, UK-born or foreigners, than veering towards Reform, Restore, racism and riots.

I feel surprised that posters don't recognise that the more we have of this , the more likely a Reform victory at a GE will be.
Plus 17 people. 17! How can that not be seen as ridiculous?
And, if Palestinian refugees are ok, how come Egypt has built a wall so they don't get any?

Well we know the answer to that - we just can't say it.

Implement it via domestic legislation

Leaving ECHR also potentially breaks the already shite Brexit agreement we have and reverts to a hard Brexit...'to terminate or suspend the operation of this Agreement … in whole or in part'.

The ECHR like most EU organisations

It's nothing at all to do with the EU.

I feel like the main reason we have a problem with immigration and the huge numbers we have today (and this was also before Brexit), is because it’s become a money making scheme for human rights lawyers. So if it’s a choice of having hundreds of thousands of illegal migrants entering the Uk (and then being allowed to stay), and I’m talking about the ones who aren’t coming from war torn countries), then yes, I do think we should leave the ECHR, because this level of immigration just isn’t sustainable.

Edited

A money making scheme for human rights lawyers??

Legally aided asylum appeals are remarkably poorly paid. Civil legal aid rates didn't increase from 1996 until the end of last year, in fact there was a 10% cut in 2012. In December 2025 they bunged us an extra thirty quid for new matters opened after that date (and by the time those reach the tribunal it will be 2027 at least). I wonder how you'd feel if your pay had not increased since 1996 and you'd accepted a 10% pay cut in 2012, and whether you'd consider yourself part of a "money making scheme."

Privately paid immigration work is much better paid, not least because much of it comes from companies and universities. However, none of their work will rely on ECHR elements because there is no human right to study or work in the UK.

You can find crime committed by all races in the UK.

Well done. You got the point.

A little more thought and you might be able to see that judging someone because someone in their community is a criminal is nonsensical.

They could try thinking, researching the facts, listening to people who are trying to give them those facts.

Just a thought.

I believe Egypt and Jordan have extensive experience of taking in Palestinians. It's well documented if you'd care to research into it.

The “integration problem” (such that it exists) is a problem of our own making, rather than that of any immigrant. When houses are being fire bombed and people are being attached for the colour of their skin, when right wing newspaper headlines scream about immigrants being crime ridden deplorables and mosques are being targeted, how much do you think that encourages people to integrate? You appear to claim you have integrated, what is it about all those other migrants that you believe they don’t want the same?

How do you know what he earns? I don't think the additional rate of tax is miniscule at all.

I’m a higher rate tax payer. I guarantee my family takes more from the system than I pay in. In the scheme of things, higher rate tax (and I pay even more because I live in Scotland) makes little difference to my income.

Explore the alternative view, listen to people, try to see it from a different perspective ... Why don't you start with yourself?

Just a thought...

As for the UK population, they are not rejecting the idea firsthand out of ignorance, they have been living with it for 20y, this is how they formed their opinion, it's not coming out of thin air or biases, it's not a theoretical discussion, it's their direct experience.

Your pov has been the mantra for most of these years, you have had your fair chance to expose your views, win people over, let facts speak for themselves, etc. And yet, people don't like it as much as you would like them to. It is not a question of needing more time or doing more to convince, it is a question of you not accepting you have lost this debate. That's the denial.

All the stuff we want can be kept with domestic legislation.

Which we already have anyway

I was giving you my answer. The ME conflict gets heated, hence why it's pointless trying to talk about the negative experiences that other countries have faced.

Not wrong. The UK should have never gone the way of multiculturalism regarding integration.

I wouldn’t back Labour over them it’s too hypocritical.

Burnham saying he will go back to Labour values whilst voting for Mahmood’s policies.

That’s a quick move from refugees welcome to now we are very hardline and pretending nothing’s changed. Maybe they’ll get some voters but it’s pretty dishonest.

That is not what I asked.

I know you would never back Labour, I asked if those immigration policies align more with your views.

You already know that I disagree with those policies as do many other Labour voters/lefites.
