I have suffered the last three days in the South East. It is 30 degrees where I am today. I'm suffering! And its been in the high twenties all week. I haven't slept with fans on.

However looking at the weather forecast, its dropping to a lovely 21 degrees next week. Is that the end of it?

The temperatures are forecast to go up again next week.
It's still roasting in the SW.

Anothernameretired · 16/07/2026 15:54

No sign of it dropping where I am (although maybe 28/29 is dropping).
But there is some much needed rain coming in.

susiedaisy1912 · 16/07/2026 15:55

SW is still hot. Not 34degrees hot like the other week but still late 20’s hot.

icepopsincoming · 16/07/2026 15:56

21C predicted here from Mon/Tues next week - South coast

I might finally get some outdoor work properly finished 🙏

mindymoo11 · 16/07/2026 15:56

Today it's been the hottest its been all week in my town.

Why cant we have a summer that enjoy its so unfair. So we will have nine months of crap cold rainy weather, and then three months where its too hot to enjoy it

23 predicted here from Sunday and most of next week

kidsbeingloudagain · 16/07/2026 16:09

I’m currently in my bedroom with the air con on. It was cooler yesterday but back to awful today. I agree that it just seems to have gone from complete grey, rain and cold to far too hot with none of the steps in between.

muddyford · 16/07/2026 16:13

Not in the southwest. Hot weather continues. Humidity feels high too.

firstofallimadelight · 16/07/2026 16:15

I’m assuming there will be 6 weeks of rain starting next week ☔️

Because of climate change caused by us humans - we’re reaping the consequences of our actions!

mondaytosunday · 16/07/2026 16:19

It will be cooler next couple weeks. But after that? And long term? I understand that we should expect these warmer temps in summer now.

Patrickpickthepepper · 16/07/2026 16:24

I heard a climate scientist on a podcast yesterday say ‘this will probably be one of the coolest summers in our life time’ 😱

Monty36 · 16/07/2026 16:30

We’ve got August to get through yet.

CraftyGin · 16/07/2026 16:34

Surrey here:

The heatwave definitely isn't over. It will be more seasonal at the weekend (25C), but will then be back up to 29C+. There is also no prospect of rain at all.

The big difference between this week and a fortnight ago, is that the temp drops overnight and it's a slow build up to 29C, not really getting hot until the afternoon.

Lurkingandlearning · 16/07/2026 16:36

BBC news say that Met Office advise this is the new norm. I know you want a link but I can't be arsed because I'm too fucking hot. Find it yourself 😅

PrettyLittleRose · 16/07/2026 16:37

Nah, wishful thinking mate. The heatwave is not going to end anytime soon. Or if it does, there will be another one on the way. It's still July!

LlynTegid · 16/07/2026 16:44

I assume rain once all children are on school holidays.

Screamingabdabz · 16/07/2026 16:48

Of course it bloody is. Schools are about the break up so naturally the weather is going to be shit for exactly 6 weeks, when an ‘Indian summer’ will return just as everyone is back to school again.

I’m term time only and it pisses me off every year. Wish the summer holidays were in June and July.

EmeraldDreams73 · 16/07/2026 17:33

SW here too and it's been between 28⁰ and 31.5⁰ according to the car today. Really muggy too. I'll believe it when I see it - though usually the kids breaking up from school is the catalyst for 6 weeks of rain...

Fiendishandfiery · 16/07/2026 17:36

I’m also in the south east and on the 19th it drops to 24, past that it’s between 27 and 29 each day for the next ten days and rhe forecasters are saying it will hit 36 again. So no. I don’t think it’s over.

DrCoconut · 16/07/2026 17:37

I'm going camping next week. It's bound to rain.

ChocolateCinderToffee · 16/07/2026 17:37

I'm in the southwest and I tried going for a walk today. Big mistake. Huge. I lasted ten minutes before seeking out an ice cream and heading home. 27C here, according to the weather forecast but I would say it's more.

amylou8 · 16/07/2026 17:43

I'm in the SE and it definitely looks like it's cooling off tomorrow and into the weekend. More importantly over night temperatures are going down to the low to mid teens, which allows buildings to lose the heat they've absorbed during the day. Hope it lasts.

NimbleHiker · 16/07/2026 18:33

I am in yorkshire and we have had temperatures between 24 and 27 degrees this week. The nights have cooled down to the low teens though. At least i have been able to get quite a bit done in the morning before it gets too hot.
