I have suffered the last three days in the South East. It is 30 degrees where I am today. I'm suffering! And its been in the high twenties all week. I haven't slept with fans on.

However looking at the weather forecast, its dropping to a lovely 21 degrees next week. Is that the end of it?

I don’t think it’s been as bad as this summer’s previous ones. Less soupy and humid.

i love summer and warm weather compared to rain and chill. However, wishing for weather that you or I might like best doesn’t make any difference to the day to day reality.

in my experience August is usually a bit wetter and cooler than June and July but we shall see

No it isn't 'the coolest summer we'll have!'. Next summer will probably be cool and damp and then everyone will moan about that.

Well I'm bloody loving it. Long live global warming!

Early morning walks under a warm blue sky, lunch in the garden under the shade of the cherry tree, then evenings at the beach playing with the kids in the sea.

Feel sorry for the city folk though!

Well bully for you!

Anyone finding it’s cooled down but still somehow so humid!? I only have to get up from a chair and I’m sweaty!!

FFSItsTooHot · 14/08/2026 17:44

I bloody well hope so. I've had enough of this shit.

Where are you?
In London it's been way worse than previous summers.

Lauren Bacall! That has briefly distracted me.

Are you suggesting that people who live in poor housing and work in poor working conditions have chosen this? It’s way more complex than that, unfortunately, and I’d suggest you do some reading. Unless I’ve misunderstood your tone/post - apologies if so.

Have bus drivers and nurses chosen their lives so it's ok if they collapse in 38 C?

ApplePieCinamon · 14/08/2026 17:54

I pray it does. I have never felt more sick and miserable than this year. Ironically I grew up in a country FAR hotter than this but this heat is truly something else. Homes are also not equipped, so you have a rotten sleep and
just miserable throughout the day. Both my kids were sick with heat exhaustion and refused to be out much. So it’s been miserable stuck inside as well. Almost all
activities require you to be roasting outside. I absolutely cannot wait for it to be over

Fatiguedwithlife · 14/08/2026 17:57

I’m enjoying it! No need for foreign holidays in the summer now. Don’t need to carry cardis and jackets everywhere. Warm enough to lie on the beach with a book. (And yes I have also been working in it.) maybe I’m just a lizard 🦎

cowasballerina · 15/08/2026 10:09

Dull, overcast and breezy here. Currently 19c, rising to 24c tops later. Much more comfortable. Just need lots of steady rain still.

icepopsincoming · 16/08/2026 22:12

Still bloody hot and humid in the south east. There is no air flow whatsoever.

and not a drop of rain for months 😞
