AIBU to find the cooler weather surprisingly cold after the heatwave?

Climate change and recurring heatwaves terrify me so I hate to admit this but the recent drop to the high twenties feels unbelievably cold. The overnight temperatures are positively wintry. Tell me I am not the only one!

I used to laugh at family in the Caribbean they they said temperatures in the 20s was chilly.

Not any more. I'm cold! Bring back the heatwave!

My DD went back to UK on Monday after a few weeks with me in Spain.
she said she was under her duvet for two nights.
im well jell!
I have another three weeks out here where night time temps don’t drop below 24.
it’s always my favourite thing about going home to sleep snuggled under a duvet, instead of waking up with a twisted bed sheet tangled at my ankles.
I dream of having a nights sleep where I don’t wake up drenched in sweat!

SJM1988 · 15/07/2026 13:27

My kids have been complaining its cold.
It does feel cooler...but only because we had mid to high 30's for what seemed like weeks with no breeze. If you got rid of the breezer we have today at 26, it wouldn't feel that cold.

TheItalianGame · 15/07/2026 13:35

The dog who has spent the past few weeks sleeping about 20 hours a day, stretched out on the cold floor, is currently curled into a very tight ball in a nest of blankets so it’s definitely not just me!

I remember a recent heatwave near Córdoba one year where temperatures hovered around 30 through the night and were firmly in the 40s during the day. It was tiring.

Yes it has cooled down but it isn't cold. It is pleasantly warm during the day and it is cooling down enough for me to sleep at night. I can finally do my normal activities without becoming a sweaty mess. I want the rest of the summer to stay like this.

Silverbirchleaf · 15/07/2026 13:40

I put trousers on a couple of days ago, and almost put a jumper on. The drop in temperature did feel chilly.

clearlyy · 15/07/2026 13:50

YANBU. I’ve brought a jacket today to work and I’m wearing trousers. I’m cold! The sun has only just come out as I’m typing this so it might be warmer outside now.

Chickydoo · 15/07/2026 13:55

In London. My office is 27 (shade) outside in the sun 31 😎🌞

Propagandalf · 15/07/2026 14:27

I don't acclimatise to the heat and it's still hot now at 26C.

Mid/late-teens around 15-17 in September with Autumn sunshine will be more welcoming than the present.

Userexcuser · 15/07/2026 14:38

Did have to find my slippers last night as my toes were a bit chilly while watching the football. Still a gorgeous 26 and sunny here, this would be my ideal weather for summer - warm enough to be in shorts & t-shirt every day, not so hot that every part of me is sweating.

amylou8 · 15/07/2026 14:38

I'm in the SE so we're still hitting 30. But I've gone from feeling like I'm about to combust, to being just a bit on the warm side. I think we adapt pretty quickly.

DappledThings · 15/07/2026 14:42

Bonkers. I have been enjoying actually using the duvet for 2 nights rather than just a sheet and other than that it's still roasting most of the time.

I had my feet in the sea last night and it was like a warm bath.

DinoLil · 15/07/2026 14:49

Still flipping hot here in the SE. I'm just wearing a pair of knickers atm!

OwnHappiness · 15/07/2026 14:52

Still 30 here now but this morning was cold and I sat under a blanket and had a jumper on outside for my coffee! It was only 20 😂

ThinAir7 · 15/07/2026 15:16

I'm in W Yorkshire and it was really cold this morning, 14C when I took the dog out at 7.30. I had to put my fleece on😮

FrenchandSaunders · 15/07/2026 17:06

I'm in London and it's 27 at the moment .. that's still very hot for me.

Savvysix1984 · 15/07/2026 17:09

Still hot where I am and tomorrow is due to be the hottest of the week. We haven’t have SE temps though. I think we had one day of 30 and the rest mid 20’s so perfect.

DentistWait · 15/07/2026 17:11

My car said 31 today in London!

But yes, I was surprised to feel cooler in the evening yesterday and needing my cardi and socks. Not complaining at all though!

badboss2020 · 15/07/2026 17:14

It’s roasting here on the south coast.

wheresmeaircon · 15/07/2026 17:18

It’s 28 here, I am not cold. I would like to be!

Nannyfannybanny · 15/07/2026 17:43

Must be a lot of people with bad circulation..I'm in East Sussex,it's 33c outside,38c inside. Now got the air conditioner on. DH and I are having difficulty functioning.cant cope past 23c..

KeptWomanSummer · 15/07/2026 17:47

Haha I get what you’re saying.

I can be quite a hot weather hater. However I do get impressed with myself when I acclimatise and then find 27/28 pleasant. As at the start of the year I think of 20 as potentially too warm.

On the flip side with my newfound heat tolerance - we go away to Crete in a couple of weeks and the weather is showing high 20s and I’m here like an idiot worrying that’s not hot enough for pool/beach. 🤣

Wherethedogsits · 15/07/2026 17:50

Still really hot here. Last night was the first night that I struggled to sleep due to the temperature.

JoshLymanSwagger · 15/07/2026 17:51

YABU!

What cooler weather?!

It's bloody boiling here in the southern north or northern midlands depends who you ask...

hahabahbag · 15/07/2026 17:56

It’s still 28 degrees here and 18 at night. More pleasant than last week, definitely not cold. I’m sat in a sundress now and sleeping with no covers
