AIBU to question no hosepipe ban exemption for people on benefits?

No hosepipe ban for people on benefits .

No hosepipe ban in my area, but we're hoping there will be because my 85 year old Dad is exempt, and we're going to hire him & his hosepipe out to the neighbours to make some extra cash...

A lady I work with is on the water sure scheme as her son has hayfever…..

She has just had her garden hose running full pelt for around 36hours filling a 9500 litre pool

It's because carrying a watering can is usually heavy work and involves a lot more moving around. Good grief I'd give anything to have my old self back. Jealousy and bitterness is rife online. What a horrible world I live in now.

Report report report. I have it on good authority that the only people allowed to use hose pipes are idle scroungers on benefits. Your lady WORKS. So is clearly fraudulently filling.

I am exempt so my plan was to show off to all the neighbours by just spraying the hose around extravagantly in our weed strewn garden

Sadly I am back in hospital so will have to postpone the fun

Try reading the criteria (rather than just spewing more hatred at the perceived lower classes).

It's people on a WaterSure tariff, not just anyone on benefits. And they can't use it for watering the garden via hosepipe anyway (as part of the WaterSure conditions that always apply). Which presumably is what most people want it for.

Why would being on benefit give you an exemption. An exemption should only be for those who have a need for water due to a condition or other appropriate reason

because there's a shortage of water.... your kids having fun is completely irrelevant and totally unimportant

This explains what 'people on benefits' exemption actually entails. It is for 'people on benefits' who need more water than usual ie health conditions etc. Also, these exemptions are allowed on the understanding that the recipients don't waste water.
So - it's not all 'people on benefits'!

you're a grandmother, not some dense child. Try actually looking up your Water company and seeing what their restrictions and exemptions are and abiding by them to keep water flowing into everyone's taps.

All of the Water companies have their own restrictions and make their own exemptions

I haven't read all of them, but I have read mine and several other others. None of the ones I have read so far off for exemptions simply for people on any kind of benefit or with three children. They all give exemptions for health reasons and safety reasons which mainly apply to people on disability benefits and on their companies own version of 'vulnerable priority people'

They all also request using any water carefully and considerately.

It is nothing to do with money. It is is about some disabled people not being able to use watering cans, so they are still allowed to use their hosepipe.

This is quite incorrect, a lie being perpetrated by ignorant and foolish people who can’t be bothered to fact check even though it would take a few seconds.

Reality: there are some specific instances where BLUE BADGE holders can apply for exemptions to the hosepipe ban.

oh and BTW for everyone fussing about their garden - put in a dripper system, they are allowed, even to fools who spread lies about people on benefits.

Disabled daughter has baby with health issues. Carrying watering cans to water a garden (which is what hosepipe ban refers to) would do her in completely.

Is that justification enough?

No reference to paddling pools. Anyone can have one.
